Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

Mac client is available, the Linux one should follow. Keep fingers crossed...

Hey you really need to release a linux version. For someone of my means, proton is expensive. You make great apps for all your devices in my opinion. but the decision to focus on preferential development spend instead of ensuring that your product can be used anywhere is saddening. Put in some money and overtime and give us something. Also, Mac as well. Jeez

Windows is a privacy nightmare. Forcing people to use Windows to sync with Proton Drive is against the mission of the company. Please support free software and Linux. I see many companies now providing an AppImage (even tax software these days) enabling people to stay safe on Linux. Snap or Flatpack are great options as well. I am a paying customer and I would love to be able to use drive on Linux. Otherwise, it's quite useless to me.

I don't need a desktop client. I would be already very happy with a CLI tool to just sync a directory.

It would really justify me paying for your service

I have subscribed to proton unlimited and thought I would be able to use the drive storage. Unfortunately, with the lack of drive client for Linux, the unlimited offer sounds te be very limited to me since syncing files on drive space would be manual.

This is absolutely the only feature preventing me from signing up for the proton suite. I have Windows and Mac machines in my home, but Linux is my daily driver. I'm willing to lose 75% of my storage capacity (Dropbox = 2TB, Proton = 0.5TB) but proper Linux integration is absolutely paramount to my adoption.

A way to sync to Proton Drive from Linux would save me a lot of time. This is the most important feature request to me.

Big vote from my side. while I understand that Linux is a minority for desktop users, I would have still expected to be a priority for Proton to make a client for Linux, especially before making the one for Mac. As for other users this is a game changer for me to switch to Proton.

Really hope this gets done soon. It will be a huge step forward in the capability of ProtonDrive

It is really sad that there is still no Linux client. Actually something that should be a matter of course in this area. And, like all other apps, it should of course be open source. Proton always advertises its openness and how secure it should be. But these words should also be backed up by deeds, otherwise you appear untrustworthy.

Once I discovered Linux had been sidelined it made me doubt whether I had made the right call in trying to switch. I still fully haven't because I'm not getting the signal that this company cares about me as a demographic.

This is the very missing app that hinders me from moving definitely to Proton Drive.

If nothing else, how about opening up the API so services like rclone can sync like with every other service on the planet. Their first runs are promising , but so slow that I can't use it on a regular basis. And when you have to guess at things, I'm not sure why they even bother.
Like others here, I'm forced to use another service (MEGA) until this gets resolved. I've tried installing the Windows client via WINE and Proton (from Steam), but you've successfully borked that option as well.

It's disappointing to see applications for Windows, Mac and iOS and nothing for linux. You don't even need to support every distro on the planet -- just a flatpack, a bridge with no UI, or some minimal Ubuntu support, the community can take it from there. Or perhaps you're assuming "we'll figure it out", reverse engineering the other apps (because that's how it usually goes). Come on.

I have to pay for another service for this. I shouldn't have to. Even if it's just something I can manually configure using something like rsync I wouldn't care. Otherwise you can keep upping my storage but it's useless to me. I can't sit around uploading gigs and gigs from a web browser. Especially files I always want current in cloud storage.

I use linux daily. ALL of my data are on the Linux box. I'm being forced to use OneDrive for essential (minimal...) sharing until such time as I can use Proton for all my data. I only created the onedrive account because I've been waiting for Proton to do this. I'm happy with the windows app, now we need it for Linux.
