Family Plan
Visionary is way too much of space, addresses and domains!
Normal family would use not more than 1GB per user and no more than single custom domain.
Main points for improvement:
- Increase the users to 10
- Decrease storage to 5GB total
- Decrease custom domains to 1
- Remove ProtonVPN
And then have price around 10EUR/month to be truly affordable.

Now that the Visionary plan with it's 6 users is not available anymore I would love to see a family plan option that lets you have a few separate users and a shared storage area.
I know that business options exist but the needs are fundamentally different for families and can be designed to cater to that demographic.
In my opinion a family plan would be quite similar to the Visionary plan.

Must have if I'm going to make Proton my main account. I'd like to be able to share a drive account with my wife. Ideally, I could also manage email accounts for my parents who are technically inept but concerned about privacy. If you can make these things happen, I'm happy to pay a fair price.

For me this is a must have. Both me and my wife have a personal email address and share additional addresses and calendars. We also share calendars with the kids and would like to also move the kids away from gmail, but as both my wife and the kids are not heavy users, I don't want to pay too much them.

The business plans are UNAFFORDABLE for the average family, and completely UNAFFORDABLE for my immediate family of 9 individuals (Business plan minimum $117 per month payment or payment of $2,160 for 24 months). I have had control of an Internet domain for over a decade for my family, and this domain is entrenched in the Google apps system (free legacy account). I would be more than happy to transition this domain to Proton if it was affordable for my immediate family. Furthermore, I would offer these custom Proton accounts to my extended family! I never did offer our custom domain Gmail accounts to extended family members because I just didn't feel comfortable being an admin and have responsibility/liability for the security/privacy of their data. I would definitely offer user accounts to extended family if I could guarantee to them that they have complete privacy and control over their data!

I think 9,99 per month for a "Basic Family Plan" is fair.
- 5 members
- 1 domain.
- no VPN
- 5 GB per user -

Personally, having an affordable option to add a user to may account would be beneficial to get less tech closed family member to get away from less private services.
Something that would benefits individual/families without damaging the expensive business plan (for business).
Like linking a free account to a paid one, and have the option to share/give some of the paid options to the free account (few more GB, 1-2 address, 1-2 vpn connections etc)
---
But for a family (parents + kids) I think it is a must have, to be able to have something specific where the parents account can check and manage the kids accounts when needed.
It's called kids privacy and security 101.

I absolutely support this. I will buy an unlimited plan now for me. But my kids should be able to use protonmail and VPN with their own family account.
As Nathan correctly states, no one needs gazillion e-mail adresses and buying an unlimited plan for five persons is a bit heavy. When they get older and are used to proton, they can buy their own plan.

When comes the family plan with 2 or 3 accounts on the same domain. I would like to join then Proton with a payed account. But business plan is useless for me and an overkill...

As an alternative approach, I for one would appreciate if families could use non-profit pricing. When Google was offering free Workspace for non-profits (up to 10 users...), it was also offered to families....
I'm not advocating for a free tier for families (though maybe something equivalent to the free individual tier, but allowing sharing among the domain would be appropriate...), but paying $20 per month so my wife and I can share a calendar is pretty steep.
There are solutions (eg Cloudflare's email forwarding service) that can get us most of the way there (at least insofar as having a domain shared among users), but at the cost of losing any ability to verify the authenticity of an incoming message. That's a pretty hard tradeoff to swallow -

Any update on where this is in review? I have an unlimited plan and my family has all moved over to free plans, would love to move it all into a family offering.

It would be nice to share my Proton Unlimited plan with my family.
Personally I don't need 500GB per person or 15 email addresses per person, and paying for those features person with a business account at a higher rate than the unlimited plan just doesn't make sense.
It would be nice to be able to enable the Multi User feature for an individual plan and allow them to allocate storage amounts and other resources to individual users as well as manage domain addresses. I could see charging a limited additional user fee for the account of $1 per additional user.
