Family Plan
Visionary is way too much of space, addresses and domains!
Normal family would use not more than 1GB per user and no more than single custom domain.
Main points for improvement:
- Increase the users to 10
- Decrease storage to 5GB total
- Decrease custom domains to 1
- Remove ProtonVPN
And then have price around 10EUR/month to be truly affordable.
Thanks for your feedback! Family plans are available: https://proton.me/support/get-started-proton-family

Is there a family plan available? We are a family of 6. I don't see the visionary plan available. All plans appear to be per user.

As Jerry said below - this one is critical for me/us to be able to sign up/switch. Family of four, doesn't need much storage (could be adjustable/increased along with the needs), nor do we need proton VPN or drive. Just be able to have a single custom domain with a few individual mail addresses, individual calendars and a shared "family" calendar for a reasonable price... and maybe an option to later on add more mail addresses, additional custom domain, drive, VPN etc. if needed? Just like Tutanota if I'm not mistaken...

It would be great if it was possible to add users which just shared the lead accounts resources as a way to reduce costs.

This is the only thing keeping me from signing up right now. I have five family members and don’t want them to have to deal with signing up individually.

I'd like to add to this conversation, too: "The Proton Unlimited plan"with the following features would be ideal:
* 500 GB storage shared across Mail, Calendar, and Drive
* Up to 5 email addresses
* Unlimited folders, labels, and filters
* Support for 2 custom email domains
* Proton VPN with support for 10 devices
* Worldwide support for streaming services (VPN)
* NetShield (Ad-blocker) (VPN)
* 1700+ VPN servers in 60+ countriesI hope that suggestion's useful and something can come of it. Re.costing I'd suggest the same as the single account (£144 for 24 months)
Best wishes and thanks for everything you're doing

Honestly when I compare Business Mail Essential vs Mail Plus - I see no clear benefit.
The standard business (AND family as well!) usecase is: I have a single custom domain and multiple users.
On this, Proton is very expensive comparing to standard Outlook Hosted plan:
https://www.ovhcloud.com/pl/emails/hosted-exchange/and considering the fact it does not provide a native Calendar app for iOS and many other collaboration features Outlook has - it's an overkill.

In looking at my upgrade options, it looks like there isn't a family option anymore. I would really like to look into this. I want to be able to give my family their own accounts but centralize things. I am curious if you just tweak the Business offering a bit downwards and allow us to add family users.

I would like to see a plan that allows to share within a group (household) one e-mail account, one calendar and one Drive-folder aside the private ones for every member. Admin / user privileges could be extremely useful for the shared (ex.: offsprings in read-only, or a parent has to validate any change to the calendar / sending a mail).

I concur with so many. Your business plan is too costly and overkill for the needs of a family unit. We need one custom domain with 5 users. Shared calendar, contacts and drive.

I completely agree with this. The Professional plan isn't really appropriate for a family and the Visionary plan is overkill. With the professional plan only the administrator has access to proton* email addresses and the "tax" to use a custom domain on several accounts seems excessive. Also, in order to add storage a "fake" user needs to be added and not used and 5GB have to be added at a time. It would be nice to be able to add storage in a simpler way. It would be nice to be able to have several Plus accounts grouped together under a single custom domain, or a Family plan where users cost the same as Plus users and storage can be added as for the Plus plan.

Almost 4 years later and with the pending demise of the G Suite legacy free edition, I am searching for a better solution.
I have 6 immediate family members and my parents using the family domain name for email -- no website. 8 x $6.66/mo = $53/mo or $640/yr. That's for providing email for a family with 4 kids and a couple grandparents - a very non-revenue generating, non-profit enterprise.
By comparison, Google Workspace Business Starter pricing is $6/user/mo and provides 30GB of storage space.
If you had the plan listed above, even if it was priced at 15 EUR/month, I'd sign up for it right now.

I'm getting to the point as others are where I should pay for email, however, to bring the whole family on board (of 4) is very expensive based on it's current plan.

The visionary plan is overkill. I'm happy to pay extra for a family option, but cannot such a plan just be a multiple of the individual plan's price? I realise one can buy separate individual accounts, but that wouldn't grant the ability to manage them all from a central or joint account manager. There is definitely a market between the individual and visionary levels (and no, the business option is not quite right).

I use my domain with the Protonmail Plus account and would like to provide two accounts for my kids. Using the Visionary is overkill for my needs

Family Accounts
Need to be able to have one account to manage multiple user accounts.
- One place for billing
- Shared Drive contentCurrently I would have to sign up for 5 separate accounts with different billing. Which would be very expensive

This would be very helpful for household switching over from GMail! Not every family wants a custom domain, we want to use @protonmail.com
One member takes the lead, sets up the billing account, and the rest of the family simply logs in into their new accounts!
I'm sure this may already have been suggested, but if the @protonmail.com can't be the default, could you it as an alias?

Absolutely required. For most companies or families, there is a single domain name that's the company name or the family name. Many times you need to send emails that do not show that name. For example for placing anonymous bids on auction sites.
