Storage: 1 GB is not enough on the free plan, but as a pensioner I cannot afford expensive plans.
I would be happy for you to automatically delete all emails above my 1GB limit, so that is when my storage starts to fill up.
Can you do this? Keep my stored emails just below 1GB?
I would like to stay with Proton, otherwise I have to go back to Gmail.

For Android FairEmail is a good client. Thunderbird is good. Although I'm not sure you can use Proton via third party apps? On desktop you will need a bridge which is, as far as I know, only available in paid plans, so you would have to use official ProtonMail app.
Please don't go back do gmail. Check other private providers if you have to. I've heard there are some in Germany.

What is the best EMAILER or email software to use with Proton?
I am thinking of "Thunderbird" from Firefox. What do you think?
Presently I am using Blue Mail for Android, which is very good for Android but not so good on a PC/laptop.
Would appreciate your opinion or advice on emailer software.
