Proton Browser
Proton Browser
I would Like to see a Browser like chrome, firefox, or Brave. But without the tracking and also it being based in the same location as protonmail would mean its secure and safe to use.
With companys like google buying up all the alternative browsers I think this a needed program/app. What good is the secure email when Chrome is snap shoting and keylogging your protonmail logins.

I would like to suggest that Proton considers developing a privacy-focused web browser as part of the Proton ecosystem.
A Proton Browser with full support for modern browser extensions would be extremely valuable, especially if it integrates natively with existing Proton services such as Proton Pass, Proton VPN, and Proton Account.
Key points:
Privacy by default (no tracking or telemetry)
Full support for browser extensions
Native integration with Proton Pass (passwords, aliases, passkeys)
Optional Proton VPN integration per site or per tab
Cross-platform support (Android and desktop)
Many Proton users are actively trying to reduce their dependency on Google and other big-tech ecosystems. A Proton Browser would provide a strong private alternative and further strengthen Proton as a complete privacy-first platform. -

I think firefox based browsers are already good. Proton shouldn't expand their ecosystem too much because the more they spread, the easier it will be to introduce vulnerabilities by mistake while at the same time making the company a bigger target for hackers

I find this idea interesting only if it's based on the Firefox engine, we do not need more chromium skins

As long as we will have to wait for a Proton Browser, it would be great to have the services available on a website and/or plugins for more browsers. I use DuckDuckGo and would love to see Proton here - or change to the Proton browser. Thanks for all the great work you do!

As echoed by other users, introducing a privacy‑focused browser would be a highly valuable extension of the Proton ecosystem. While I recognize that resources are limited, exploring strategic collaborations to deliver a privacy‑first browsing experience (whether developed in‑house or through partnerships with Firefox or reputable competitors like Mullvad) would substantially enhance user trust and be greatly appreciated.

Come on Proton! The request is posted 8 years ago, please follow up on this. We, users, would love to have a complete eco system at Proton. Browser, Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Drive, VPN etc that would completely replace the native apps of Apple (macOS and iOS), Android and Windows. It's even save to say that people would pay for it.

I currently use DuckDuckGo! but would love to see them flying under the Proton banner. Perhaps a deal could be struck since DDG is working so hard at keeping the trackers out of our lives.

To challenge the technological monopoly of the browser engine, we are the Global Alliance for Browser Engine Freedom. We call upon Proton AG—a recognized leader in fighting Big Tech—to leverage its influence and resources to structurally support the development and adoption of a third, viable, and truly open-source browser rendering engine, thereby making genuine privacy-by-default on the web a technological reality, not just a policy position.

Hello to the entire Proton team. My suggestion for the Proton ecosystem is to create a browser entirely focused on privacy, security, and lightness. The goal is to build a browser that outperforms competitors like Brave and Via Browser, combining the best of both: robust privacy/security and a lightweight, fluid experience with advanced ad-blocking. I strongly believe this would attract a large audience, as people seek the practicality and security that are already associated with your brand.

Modern browsers share a major flaw: there’s no way to configure them to automatically reject non‑essential cookies or companies that claim “legitimate interests.” It’s a real pain on the internet to have to click away hundreds of cookie notices. Build a browser that lets you pre‑set a blanket refusal of cookies. If a single, essential website stops working, you can add an exception for that site.
While you’re at it, bundle in a custom search engine—or perhaps DuckDuckGo—and integrate VPN, Pass, Onion routing, Lumo, bookmarks, and so on. That would just be fantastic! -

Hi Proton Team,
I currently use Firefox, but I feel a browser powered by Lumo could take the browsing experience to a whole new level. Especially now, with the emergence of new AI-powered browsers, I think Proton should consider entering that space. This could be a privacy-first alternative to browsers like ChatGPT Atlas, and Dia.
Along with a Proton Browser, a Lumo-powered search engine could change the game. Both these spaces could be revolutionised by Proton's safe, intuitive and aesthetic UI.
The browser could have new tools like Proton bookmarks and already existing tools like Proton VPN and Proton Pass pre-installed.
These tools could really change the way people use Proton, so I hope the people at Proton hear me out and add these tools. -

This really feels out of scope of what they are trying to provide. Not saying I don't want a privacy focused browser but they are not really in that space.

Oh yes, well said, no other browser is worth it. Google and its ilk are so powerful that, with millions of dollars at their disposal, they can either buy everything up or implement themselves into a programme that the general public believes to be secure.

I use DuckDuckgo browser, or the plugin in other browsers. But Duckduckgo doesn't accept plugins like Dashlane or Proton Pass.

I would love to see Proton collaborate with Firefox. Proton-enabled Firefox would be a boon for your users, and Proton would be able to provide a nice value-add and income stream for Firefox through new sign-ups.
