Introduction of a Proton Notes app as a secure alternative to Google Notes
Description:
A native note-taking app from Proton would add an important everyday tool to the portfolio while extending Proton's high privacy standards to note management. The app should offer the following core features:
Extensive functionality – text notes, checklists, image and file attachments, formatting (bold, italics, bullet points) – in other words, the same level of performance as Google Notes.
Intuitive user interface – quick creation, editing, and organization of notes via swipe gestures, drag-and-drop, and context-sensitive menus.
Integration of “share” services – Users should be able to transfer content from other apps (e.g., Spotify, YouTube, podcasts) directly into a note using the “share” function.
Example: While listening to an audiobook, the current song/track can be saved in Proton Notes using Spotify's share option. The note automatically displays the album cover as a thumbnail so that you can quickly find the right place later.
End-to-end encryption – All notes are encrypted locally and backed up in Proton Cloud (Drive) so that only the users themselves have access.
Cross-platform synchronization – Available on iOS, Android, and in the web client, so notes are accessible everywhere.
Benefits:
Privacy: No sharing of personal notes with third parties.
Productivity: Seamless integration of media and contextual information (e.g., album covers, podcast titles) directly into the note.
Consistency: Complements the existing Proton ecosystem (Mail, Calendar, Drive, VPN, Pass, etc.) and strengthens brand loyalty.
Such a Proton Notes app would offer users who already trust Proton services a secure and functional alternative to Google Notes.

For example, a user with a dark purple profile could select a hamster image with purple lighting or a dark background. A clean profile could use a simple hamster portrait with minimal editing. Since Discord communities often contain many users, a distinctive hamster face can make an account easier for friends to recognize quickly.

Great idea—and I'd take it one step further. Rather than just a "Proton Notes" clone of Evernote or Google Keep, imagine a full second-brain system built on what Proton already owns: Drive for encrypted storage, Docs for editing, Lumo for AI, and Standard Notes for note-taking DNA. Instead of plain notes in folders, every saved item—notes, web clippings, images, PDFs, even forwarded emails—becomes a card in a searchable, visual grid (similar to MyMind.com, but with zero-knowledge encryption MyMind doesn't offer). No manual folder structures, no endless tagging: Lumo handles auto-tagging, summaries, and semantic search behind the scenes, all with zero-access encryption so even Proton can't read your knowledge base.
The strategic upside for Proton: PKM is the last major productivity category Proton hasn't entered, and privacy-conscious users currently have no good option—Notion harvests your data, Obsidian requires DIY sync hacks, and MyMind's privacy practices are opaque. A "Proton Brain" that unifies the ecosystem would lock in subscribers and finally offer a true private alternative to Big Tech productivity suites. Why not integrate Standard Notes, which Proton has already acquired, cleanly into the Plus subscription?

I'm voting against for now, here is why:
TLDR; this is not a priority.
1. Standard Notes is already part of the Proton company and it's been years that Proton has decided that Standard Notes wouldn't be part of the Proton app ecosystem and would stay independant.
2. Such an app doesn't help the rest of the ecosystem, and the "core" of the proton ecosystem, which i would define by Mail, Calendar, Drive, VPN.
3. Other General Ideas would take more priority. Tasks would finalize (a bit") the calendar ecosystem that's clearly lacking a lot of features rn.

Google Keep is probably the app I use most in the Google family. I would love a Proton variant of this. Stand alone, not tied to Pass or any other service

Proton currently owns a service that is purposed for note-taking, It'd just be a matter of rebranding from Simple notes to Proton notes and adding a bunch of features!

A Proton Note app, it's increadibly hard to find a good apple note alternative (not an apple user).
I mainly need notes and folders for said notes, possibly tags.
With a clean interface.
Synched on a phone app through protondrive (so I do not need to pay hosting with a separate service).
