  1. Generate a unique identifier for each UserVoice idea

In this manner, users would be able to reference other ideas or search by idea number.

For example, I recently opened a new idea as the original search was not successful. When reviewing other ideas to see if I could comment or vote on others, I noticed an idea matching mine had already been posted but none of the words in that idea matched my search. I'd like to be able to close my idea and add a comment referring to the other idea by unique number as well as through a link with that number.

  2. A video hosting platform

YouTube started getting accused of using AI and getting large creators banned. Proton already has a userbase and this is a great opportunity to make one.

  3. Suggestion for a new browser!

Hello to the entire Proton team. My suggestion for the Proton ecosystem is to create a browser entirely focused on privacy, security, and lightness. The goal is to build a browser that outperforms competitors like Brave and Via Browser, combining the best of both: robust privacy/security and a lightweight, fluid experience with advanced ad-blocking. I strongly believe this would attract a large audience, as people seek the practicality and security that are already associated with your brand.

  4. Better onboarding documentation

Two bits of information would have helped me as I onboarded to the Proton ecosystem if they were placed front and center:

    1. Make it obvious that there's a limit to the number of times you can delete an email. As I set up a strategy for myself, I created a number of emails that I then wanted to rename, and hit the limit of deletions. This could be as simple as showing a generic message every time a user tries to delete an email that says "Are you sure you want to delete this email? You are only allowed to…

  5. Identity/Adresse Book Wallet for online shopping and more

    Dear Proton Team,

The massive usage of online shopping causes big issues : we all rely on these platforms to secure personal information, and avoid having them available on dark web (or directly sold to date brokers)

As we can hope (or pray) that's the case for Payment info, we all know that "less valuable" info like mobile phone or postal address are not so protected.
And each day i read in the news about a new site leaked by some hacker group (especially here, in France)

So my idea is : instead of filling mobile and postal adresse on…

It would be cool to have a Proton Drive widget on iOS. We could, for example, see the photos from the Drive.

  7. Phone number

A phone number that allows me to keep my real phone number hidden from potential spam, and/or a system that allows me to use temporary phone numbers connected only to my proton account.

  8. Proton Web

Modern browsers share a major flaw: there’s no way to configure them to automatically reject non‑essential cookies or companies that claim “legitimate interests.” It’s a real pain on the internet to have to click away hundreds of cookie notices. Build a browser that lets you pre‑set a blanket refusal of cookies. If a single, essential website stops working, you can add an exception for that site.
While you’re at it, bundle in a custom search engine—or perhaps DuckDuckGo—and integrate VPN, Pass, Onion routing, Lumo, bookmarks, and so on. That would just be fantastic!

  13. Reproducible builds

    https://www.privacyguides.org/en/desktop/#fn:1
Having reproducible builds for some of Proton's apps would be a great security feature, it can help people verify that the code completely matches the app.

  14. Move away from Electron apps

Many apps that Proton uses are built with Electron, which are much less secure and much more bloated than native apps
    https://www.privacyguides.org/articles/2024/11/30/pwa-vs-iwa/#current-web-based-apps
I think it would be really cool if all of Proton's apps could be native ones.

    Hi Proton Team,
I currently use Firefox, but I feel a browser powered by Lumo could take the browsing experience to a whole new level. Especially now, with the emergence of new AI-powered browsers, I think Proton should consider entering that space. This could be a privacy-first alternative to browsers like ChatGPT Atlas, and Dia.
Along with a Proton Browser, a Lumo-powered search engine could change the game. Both these spaces could be revolutionised by Proton's safe, intuitive and aesthetic UI.
The browser could have new tools like Proton bookmarks and already existing tools like Proton VPN and Proton Pass…

  19. Give user overview/list of their personal data known to Proton

It can improve users confidence/trust and Proton transparency, once Proton gives users in their account an overview page which would be showing all user's non encrypted sensitive data that the Proton is aware about and can share with Swiss authorities.

It is quite complicated to figure out what Proton knows about me and makes user not confident about using Proton.

On that page, user would see for example:

    Recovery email: a@b.c [change/remove]
    Recovery phone: +123456 [change/remove]
IP used in Simplelogin/VPN/ZenDesk/contact forms (if is collected): 1.2.3.4
Financial information used to pay for the service with gateway XY: abcdefg [request delete, delay…

  20. Proton Authenticator is open source?

I see that the Proton Authenticator apps are advertised as open source on Proton's site, but I only see the source published for the iOS, and Android apps. I do not see the source published for the Linux, Mac OS, or Windows apps on the Proton github. Please direct me to the location of the repo's if I've missed them.
