1. Feature Suggestion: Automated Personal Data Removal

   I greatly value Proton’s commitment to protecting user privacy through your suite of encrypted services. However, I see an opportunity to enhance the user experience and strengthen Proton’s value proposition even further.

   Currently, users who want to remove their personal information from the internet must manually contact data brokers, websites, and search engines ... a time-consuming and ongoing task. I suggest Proton develop a Personal Information Removal System that would:

   1. Scan and Identify: Automatically detect where a user’s personal data is publicly available or held by data brokers.
   2. Automate Removal Requests: Send verified opt-outs or deletion requests on behalf of users.
   3. Monitor Continuously: Notify users if data reappears and manage ongoing suppression.
   4. Integrate with Proton Services: Seamlessly complement existing Proton tools like VPN, Mail, and Drive.

   This feature would transform Proton from a data protector into an active defender of online identity, giving users a complete privacy solution while differentiating Proton from competitors. It would also increase trust, user engagement, and potential premium subscriptions.

2. All in one desktop app

   I wish instead of having 5 different services all on different platforms, all being separate entities, I wish all of the Proton Services were on one menu and one program I can download. Having to open 3 tabs for Mail, Calendar, Drive, then open an Extension or another Tab for Pass, and then a separate program for the VPN is EXTREMELY F**CKING FRUSTRATING! It's so hard to navigate.

   If all of this was on one program you can download to manage all of this - Life would be miles better.

5. Linux supported equally

   Linux is very popular among privacy concerned users, who make up a large chunk of Proton's userbase. However, Proton fails to provide any solid Linux apps and frequently leaves them unmaintained or released years after the initial product launch. Proton should make Linux a first-class platform, with proper support from day one.

6. Integration with writing tablets

   Privacy concerned users, such as journalists, would benefit from Proton Drive integration in emerging writing tablet devices.

   Would love Proton to collaborate note and book annotation sync features with Amazon, Boox, Kobo, reMarkable, and other prominent writing tablet manufacturers. Too many of these devices vendor lock notes inside proprietary, non-endtoend encrypted services, with only manual export options.

7. Doc outliner to Proton docs

   You can apply "Header 1" the title of the doc and subtitles but they are only visual, i would love to see a doc outliner on the side of the docs to be able to organize and skim through the doc without scrolling all the through 90 pages to what i need (Like google docs)

10. Provide a checksum option to verify data is backed up as expected

    It would be great if we could calculate a SHA512 checksum for files or folders we want to make sure have been backed up with absolutely no corruption. Make the feature on-demand, and not for every file anyone uploads to prevent unnecessary workload.

11. An idea for an advanced Proton Drive ecosystem

    Do you think this would already be a good new beginning? Since the ProtonMail and Proton Calendar apps are being recreated, Proton Drive should probably be next.

    Proton Drive:

    Obviously it should be a File Manager solely for data backup and restore, an advanced service.

    Download and upload folders, automatically with synchronization or manually.

    Have the various one-way synchronization options available, which are essential for backing up or restoring folders.

    Be an advanced File Manager, both offline and online.

    Manage and monitor the "special folders" of other services that are in Drive.

    Proton Photos:

    A Gallery-based application, designed for the management and consumption of media, which are stored on the Proton Drive.

    Have 2 options, one to choose to download the media in a compressed quality and the other in the original quality, a solution to avoid excessive storage consumption. And when you are connected to the internet, temporarily download the media in original quality.

    Automatic upload of media, but keeping the original structure of the folder.

    Option to create more than one "General Gallery", to separate media/albums from work and family media, in case you wanted to access media in public and don't want to expose your professional life to other people. Basically don't display certain albums in a "General Gallery", and display and another.

    Choose whether offline media in original or compressed quality can be displayed in other apps or continue only in Proton Photos.

    Choose whether to download the media, or just consume it online via the internet.

    Advanced editing options, with the option to upload a new edited version of the file or as a new file to Drive.

    Proton Cloud:

    A service that basically serves to organize the current and future services of the Proton ecosystem, as all services use the Cloud, there will have to be a way to organize all of them, and it can be integrated into an operating system with IOS with Apple's opening up to the new EU laws against monopoly, thus replacing iCloud, it can also be done on Android or a Custom Rom.

    Integration with a device's operating system, thus managing all device backups.

    Subscription management.

    Monitoring and Management of Proton services.

    Proton Docs:

    Docs has recently been created on the web, it has not yet reached the app stores.

    Rely on other services or maintain identity?

    I know that some will mention Google Photos, Ente Photos or iCloud, but the proposal of each of them is totally different from Proton's proposal.

    Ente Photos is basically an online vault that automatically uploads random media, its proposal is to consume media only online.

    Google Photos is literally the Google Drive that displays only media, the popularity is due to the company's name, promotion by hired digital influencers and advertising, and especially the lack of competition in the Android market.

    iCloud uses two-way sync, which is not designed for backup, so the chances of losing all your media are high. And it's also limited to Apple devices only.

    So after analyzing their proposal, it makes no sense to want to take away the identity of Proton in integration with the operating system, even more so now with the opening of IOS to developers, which will facilitate the addition of advanced and integrated functions to the system, probably the same will happen with Android and other operating systems.

    Not to mention that with the future possibility of escaping the 30% mandatory fees of the app stores, the demand for other Galleries will skyrocket in the market, since the prices of iCloud and Google Photos do not stop increasing, and they will not decrease the 30%. And the number of people looking for privacy has been Increasing dramatically lately.

    Do you think this would already be a good new beginning? Since the ProtonMail and Proton Calendar apps are being recreated, Proton Drive should probably be next.

12. Unified Application

    Create a unified application platform to access all Proton features via a multi-OS application (Windows, macOS, Linux [Flatpak]).

    I'm thinking functions like:
    1) Workspace-like application with tabs down the left side for each application (Mail, Contacts, Pass, Drive, VPN, etc..)
    2) Option to toggle individual apps on/off if the user does not want to include specific ones.
    3) Option to pop-out individual apps
    4) Configurable timeout/lock for the app platform. Should include pin, password, biometrics, security keys
    5) Themes
    6) Application-based encryption to protect cached app data

    Take a look at Zoho's Trident application, there are some decent ideas/designs there.

13. Focus on functionality and feature parity on existing products

    Proton should really focus on building with feature parity in mind. Most of their products work differently depending on the OS and that's not a good experience. Plenty of people use different OS (for example both Windows and Mac computers, the wife with Android, the husband with iPhone and the tech kid on Linux.

    STOP overmoderating, STOP spreading thin your resources and FOCUS.

14. A Proton Social Media Platform

    Having an uncensored platform to express ideas would be a game changer in the world of social media. X, (formerly "Twitter"), as well as Gab, Truth Social, Parler, et. al., have moderators who decide what is acceptable. This is NOT free speech. What one person (or moderator), finds offensive, another may find humorous or innocuous or blustering rhetoric. Freedom to express ideas and opinions, even ones that some might find offensive, (i.e. war, race, gender, ethnicity, etc.,) or anything else that might hurt someone's feelings should be absolute. Having filters in place where users can choose whether or not to see certain topics in their feeds would be a way to protect the feelings of users who believe that free speech should exclude anything that the individual considers offensive. When any rules are in place, someone somewhere is having their right to speak freely restricted or prohibited. While most individuals have something that they find offensive, (for me, crossing the line would be anything to do with promoting or advocating child/elderly/animal abuse, human trafficking, stalking, to name a few), protecting everyone's feelings all the time is impossible and impractical. While the idea of an uncensored social media platform will definitely generate push-back, "Free Speech" is just that; FREE. Yes, there will be attention-seeking individuals and trolls that will post content designed solely to illicit a response, it's not my place (or anyone else's), to censor them. For content that others find outlandish, inappropriate or even garish, the solution is simple; don't engage with them. The community as a whole will decide what it finds offensive and that alone will serve as its own form of censorship.

    Hi,
    I hope you are having a blessed day. Recently ran into a conversion issue for heic. I know a lot of customers use iphone's and based on the transfer of pictures it would be amazing if you added support to preview heic within your own amazing email product. This would save a lot of time (maybe even the ability to convert to jpeg when it notices a attachment).

16. A videocall app comparable to MS Teams

    No email ecosystem can nowadays exist without a videocall app.
    Having to rely to external apps means setting up a calendar, copying the url etc.

    It would be easier to have a Proton videocall app.

17. Allow users to purchase additional storage space regardless of plan

    It is currently impossible to purchase additional storage space without changing paid plans.
    Example: I have a proton mail plus plan, and am reaching my storage limit. I would like to purchase additional storage space (either as a 1-off payment or an increased monthly fee) without having to upgrade to an Unlimited plan. I don’t need the 500 GB of the Unlimited plan and have no use for the other additional features from the Unlimited plan).
