1. Improved custom rules for Autofill

   As some of you may have noticed, certain websites simply don't cooperate with Proton Pass's default autofill logic - the fields aren't detected correctly, or the site's structure confuses the autofiller entirely, so it fails to fill in your credentials.

   Bitwarden has recently tackled this exact problem with their "Fill Assist" system, which uses community-submitted custom rules to fix autofill on sites that don't play nicely with standard detection. It would be great if Proton Pass could implement something similar, so we don't have to reinvent the wheel:

2. iCloud Keychain/Apple Passwords native import function

   So when you try to export passwords from the Apple Passwords app, it asks whether you want to export the data directly to a new app. This way the user doesn't have to download and upload the file manually, as the process happens automatically.

   CLI: expose and update "last used" time for items

   The Proton Pass apps (desktop, browser, mobile) all track and show when each item was last used, which makes it easy to spot stale credentials and to sort by what you actually use. The CLI is the only client that ignores this: it never shows a "last used" value and never updates it, even though the API already returns the field.

   I'd love the CLI to match the apps here:

   1. Show "last used" in item list / item view JSON output, alongside the created/modified times that are already there.
   2. Update it when an item is actually used from the CLI — item view, item totp, and especially run / inject, which are how secrets get consumed in scripts and CI.
   3. Optionally, let item list --sort-by last-used order by it.

   Use case: credential hygiene. With this I could audit a vault for credentials nobody uses anymore, and confirm that the secrets my automation depends on are still alive. Right now a login read every hour by a cron job looks completely unused from the CLI's point of view.

   This would bring the CLI in line with the rest of the Proton Pass ecosystem for power users who live in the terminal.

4. Multi-Page Login: Auto-Fill Password on Second Page After Username Entry

   Many websites, like Google, split their login process into two pages: one for the username/email and another for the password. Currently, when using ProtonPass, we need to manually select our login item on both pages, which feels a bit redundant and inconvenient.

   With 1Password, once you select your login on the username/email page, it automatically fills in the password on the subsequent page without any additional input.

   This feature significantly enhances user experience by providing a smoother, quicker login process. It would be fantastic if ProtonPass could implement a similar streamlined multi-page login auto-fill functionality!

6. Further secure access-token-feature for use with AI agents

   The biggest security risk when using the new token access feature for ai agents is, that the agent tries to exfiltrate passwords because of prompt-injection attacks. This in general is hard to prevent. But maybe there is a way to add "honey-pod-passwords" for which there would be no light reason to be accessed. If they are accessed by an agent gone wild, the pass - cli immediately locks and warns the user.

8. A temporary way to access to proton suite

   So there’s have been situations where I can’t use my phone because I’m not allowed to take it with me to work inside for many reasons such as work policies, but I have access to a computer, so it would so convenient if there’s a way to get my own domain and a password that only works for X amount of things for example passwords for only these 4 sites along with TOTP and this file from drive only, but then on break when I have access to my phone it will then show a pop up, and tell me to tap so I can go my account with Face ID and other methods and then the domain automatically self destructs or deletes that copy of all info on it.

   And also to add to this feature we can have a easy to remember password for this side but it’s completely black box contained so anything in this can’t see the whole system but once I’m on my phone I can see what’s in this box so if needed I can copy over files or passcodes and then kill the whole thing off

9. Support autofill on more sites

   Before switching to Proton Pass, I used Bitwarden, and it was extraordinarily rare to find a login form that it couldn't autofill (and on the rare occasions it did happen, it seemed like the site itself was actively preventing autofill). But with Proton Pass, it feels as if around a quarter to a third of forms I try cannot be autofilled -- the Proton Pass button doesn't appear inside the input. The reason for this isn't clear; all of these forms have looked standard, and the input elements seemed to have the expected attributes.

   This lack of autofill support for certain sites is far and away the biggest problem with Proton Pass for me, and it would massively improve my experience if Proton Pass could be improved in this area.

   Below are the sites I have most recently noticed Proton Pass cannot autofill. I will update this post as I discover more.

   Sites where autofill doesn't work:

   https://www.gog.com
   https://archive.org

   To identify sites where Proton Pass has issues, it would be useful if the browser extension included “report site” feature where users can submit reports for sites where autofill doesn't work or where another issue has occurred. This would make it easier to gather data and fill in the gaps in autofill support.

10. Prioritize records of same type

    How many google -acccounts do we each have? But still we only use 1...
    Super simple prio-field in records. Like #1 - #10 and then sort the list of suggestions in this prio order.
    For instance: I have 6 google -accounts in my vault (my own, company, children etc.).
    I go to google.com and I got all of these six as suggestions based on the url. The one with Prio #1 should be at the top and maybe the selected one in the popup in the actual textfield.

11. pass-cli attachment upload

    Basically I would like to have a write version of https://github.com/protonpass/pass-cli/blob/main/pass-cli/src/commands/item/attachment/download.rs similar to the other apps, like android https://github.com/protonpass/android-pass/blob/3570f55f06b9aec7facb36533f2179aa2062cd49/pass/data/impl/src/main/kotlin/proton/android/pass/data/impl/api/PasswordManagerApi.kt#L652

13. Proton Authenticator freezes/crashes on Linux

    Hello! I have no idea where to report this.
    After a recent update on Linux Mint Xfce 22.3, entering my password after opening Proton Authenticator results in it freezing and then crashing.
    I attempted to uninstall and reinstall the app, however it did not resolve the issue.

    It also appears that it's an issue happening across multiple Linux distributions, as reported in the comment section of proton-authenticator-bin package in the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/proton-authenticator-bin

    Please expand the available options for the “Auto-lock after” setting in Proton Pass.

    The current auto-lock duration options are too limited for users who want Proton Pass to stay unlocked longer on trusted personal devices while still keeping automatic locking enabled as a safety mechanism.

    Suggested new options:

    • 1 day
    • 1 week
    • 1 month
    • Custom

    For the Custom option, users should be able to enter a numeric value and select the unit:

    • Minutes
    • Hours
    • Days
    • Weeks
    • Months

    Example custom values:

    • 12 hours
    • 3 days
    • 2 weeks
    • 2 months

    Why this matters:

    Different users have different threat models. On shared or work devices, short auto-lock intervals are appropriate. But on a private, trusted desktop, short lock intervals can create unnecessary friction and make Proton Pass less convenient to use throughout the day.

    Adding longer and customizable auto-lock durations would let users choose the right balance between convenience and security for their own environment.

15. Add a sidebar view to Firefox Add-On

    The sidebar in Firefox would be a handy place to have the saved passwords at hand for the currently open web page.

    The big advantage is, that the sidbar stays open when I click something in a web page, e.g: during login when auto fill fails and one has to resort to copy/pasting from the password manager (copying user name first, then copying password, without the need to open the Proton Pass window again after it closes because of clicking into the user name box on the web site)
    I used bitwarden before Proton Pass, and this is the only feature I miss.

    Allowing the Add-On to be available as a sidebar seems fairly trivial: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/user_interface/Sidebars

16. Proton Pass View Item History naming

    proton pass premium users can see the previously modified history of passwords but I want that I can change name of specific previous version history to a specific name so that I can understand in that time my password was this , sometimes we need to know the previous Password but as of lof modifications of passwords finding a partical previous version is very very hard so please add this feature to rename previous modified history of passwords

17. Import Notes from other Password Managers

    Other password managers outside of Proton Pass have secure note keeping features which are separate from password data types (not the note field in the login/password data type). However I don't see clear instructions on how to import the note data types into proton pass.

    Please provide a means to format the CSV to import template for secure notes import.

    Importing passwords from iCloud Passwords results in multiple entires in Proton Pass when there are multiple websites / URL's assigned to the same username & password entry

    For example: When you have the the following 3 URLs configured in a single Apple Passwords entry (example.org, www.example.org and portal.example.org) you end up now with 3 seperate entires in Proton Pass

    Pass Monitor also starts complaining about duplicate passwords because there are 3 entires created with the same username & password combination.

    The import process from Apple Password should be improved so only one entry is created with all 3 URLs.

    P.S. I don't know if this is also happening while importing from other password managers.

    Please add a secure stdin or template input mode to pass-cli item update.

    In Proton Pass CLI 2.2.3, updating an item requires values to be passed through
    arguments such as:

    pass-cli item update \
    --vault-name Production \
    --item-id ITEM_ID \
    --field "note=<sensitive value>"

    This places the sensitive value in the process argument list. Depending on the
    operating system and local tooling, it may be visible through process
    inspection, diagnostics, audit collection, or crash reports. Avoiding shell
    history does not eliminate this exposure.

    Item creation already supports secure template input through
    --from-template -. Please provide equivalent functionality for updates, for
    example:

    generate-update-template |
    pass-cli item update \
    --vault-name Production \
    --item-id ITEM_ID \
    --from-template -

    An alternative interface such as the following would also solve the problem:

    generate-secret |
    pass-cli item update \
    --vault-name Production \
    --item-id ITEM_ID \
    --field-from-stdin note

    Why replacing the item is not equivalent

    Automation can safely create a replacement item through stdin, but replacing an
    existing item:

    loses the stable item identity;
    breaks Proton Pass revision history for that item;
    requires external references to be updated transactionally;
    can leave duplicate or orphaned items after an interrupted operation.

    Secure in-place updates are especially useful for password and API-token
    rotation, infrastructure automation, and headless workflows.

    Suggested acceptance criteria

    Update one or more fields without placing their values in argv.
    Accept input from stdin, with a file option if appropriate.
    Preserve the existing item ID and Proton Pass revision history.
    Support the existing --vault-name, --share-id, --item-id, and
    --item-title selectors.
    Do not echo secret input in normal output or errors.
    Return a nonzero exit code without partially updating the item when input is
    invalid.
    Document the secure automation pattern alongside item create
--from-template -.

    This would make the CLI's update workflow consistent with its existing secure
    creation workflow and allow automated secret rotation without accepting process
    argument exposure.
