Allow disabling Linux system keyring integration in Proton Pass Desktop
Intro
On Linux, Proton Pass Desktop should provide an option to disable integration with the system keyring / Secret Service and use an alternative application-managed encrypted local storage mechanism instead.
Problem
Current case is Proton Pass Desktop on freshly updated EndeavourOS with XFCE 4.20.
Every time Proton Pass is started, the system opens a Seahorse / GNOME Keyring dialog asking me to set a password for a new keyring.
The problem is that this does not happen only once.
Even though a keyring already exists, the same process is repeated on every Proton Pass launch, and accepting the dialog results…

Autofill intelligence and reliability
The biggest problem that keeps cropping up in user reviews is the unreliability of the autofill feature. Proton Pass often fails to recognize login fields correctly, fills in fields incorrectly, or logs out unexpectedly. Proton needs to make significant improvements in this area. Competitors such as 1Password and Dashlane have developed significantly more sophisticated systems that can easily handle complex forms, multi-step login processes, and unconventional websites. Proton Pass should use machine learning to learn from failed autofill attempts and continuously improve its recognition rate. A fallback mechanism that automatically tries alternative filling methods when problems arise, rather than simply…

Support for ARM-based Microsoft Windows / Devices
With the growing support for Windows on ARM and my use of a Snapdragon X Elite laptop, I was wondering if there are any plans to release a native ARM-compatible version of Proton Pass for Windows. I'd love to know if this is on the roadmap.

Define which vaults are accessible via the browser extension
It would be useful (as 1Password does) to be able to define which vaults are accessible in the browser extension.
For example, if I have two vaults, “Personal” and “Professional,” and I use different browsers for work and home, I want my work browser to only offer me logins from my ‘Professional’ vault and not be able to see what's in the “Personal” vault.
And vice versa at home.16 votes -
sync Generated passwords
I feel the Generated passwords (which is a very nice feature) should be synchronized across the board. Today, a password generated on the mobile app is stored there for 2 weeks, but it is not visible on the desktop app, even though the same function exists there. Synchronization of a newly generated password would be handy to, example, copy and paste into an application on the desktop or vice versa, or save it in the Proton Pass app from any device.

Add WebDAV for optional self-hosted sync
Please consider adding an option to disable Proton Cloud and sync via WebDAV instead. This would allow users to store their password data on their own servers (like Nextcloud) for complete control. It's a valuable privacy feature for those who prefer not to rely on cloud services while still enjoying multi-device access.

Mac toolbar app (drop-down)
Currently when pressing the Proton Pass icon in the Mac toolbar it gives you two options: 'Open Proton Pass' and 'Quit'. That is so useless. Launching the app via spotlight search is faster. In browsers you have a nice app that opens in a sort of fold-out/drop-down way. It quickly let's you access it without actually opening the entire app. We need this for the Mac-native app as well.

Burner Phone Number
Create burner phone numbers for websites, similar to the email aliases. With the phone numbers, they could then receive verification codes.

Add the vault export functionality to Proton Pass CLI
Having the ability to automate backups of your vault via the CLI would be great.

show changes when asking to update a login
Sometimes the "Update this login?' dialog appears when I hjaven't changed my password, or done anything else that I would think caused a change. I am given Yes/No selection and little else. In the interests of transparency, it would be helpful to know what Porton Pass thinks has changed before I make a decision to change or discard whatever it might be.

REQUIRE hardware key for login
I’d really like it easy to set it so that my account cannot be logged into, not one single proton app used AT ALL, unless I have authenticated THAT session with a hardware key. As Proton enters ecosystem mode, it becomes even more tempting as a target for hackers.

Make the AutoFill Window on IOS more Useful
Improve the autofill window on IOS with editing option for every entry
When you open the autofill window on IOS using 1Password you can from there edit any credential from the autofill window directly like email or password etc.this is critical and is the reason i haven't switched from 1Password to Proton Pass since its annoying to open the app when i just want to change the Password i generated because the website doesn't accept the length of the password in 1Password i can just open the Autofill Window regenerate a Password save it and autofill it all from there…

Retrieve SMS Codes automatically
When logging into an account that uses SMS-based 2FA, Proton Pass should automatically detect the incoming OTP and offer to autofill it with a single tap — just like it already does for TOTP codes.
This could be done using Android's SMS Retriever API, similar to what was implemented by Dahslane and other password managers.

Unlocking browser extension when unlocking the desktop app (connect Proton Pass desktop with Proton Pass in the browser)
IMO it would be great if you could connect the Proton Pass desktop app with the browser extension.
(Coming from 1Password it's a feature I'm missing. That's the name of the setting there:
"Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app: When the extension and the desktop app are connected, they lock and unlock together. Biometrics will be used if available.")181 votes -
Autofill from extension after search
I've saved more than 200 login items for single website. All are for different companies and all are legit. So when I'm using proton pass it shows me drop-down with 200 login items for that site - there's no search field.. So I would love to use keyboard shortcut to open extension and then use search field and press on wanted item to autofill. And the moment all I can do is scroll in that drop-down and look for one correct item or use search in extension and then manually copy and paste credentials, which is nonsense.

Send email login alerts
It would be good if Proton Pass could send an email alert for new login attempts to an email address the user specifies.
The current login attempt notification from Proton Mail doesn't work for a) users of custom roms due to lack of unified push and b) users of only Proton Pass.

Auto-lock options for the Authenticator
It would be great to have auto-lock options for the app:
• lock after X minutes of inactivity in the app,
• lock after X minutes of system inactivity,
• and an option to lock (or not) when the OS gets locked. This would let users control whether the app should stay unlocked after the system is unlocked, or require the password again. This adds flexibility and better security.

DropBox Passwords needs an import
DropBox is removing their otherwise simple and awesome password feature. I suspect the simplicity I love is the reason they have decided to let other solutions provide that particular feature.
On Oct 8, 2025, all passwords will be gone. As we approach, more and more people are going to look for an easy way to transfer their stuff. It would be good marketing to announce that you are here to help.
The CSV import feature failed - it wondered about field names. Looking online, I didn't find any description of what the CSV import could do or what features it…
