1. Rename the "Proton Authenticator" app to "Proton Auth" on iOS.

   Please rename the Authenticator app to just "Proton Auth". Since the name is too long it gets cut off in the homescreen, it just shows up as "ProtonAuthentic" in the weird super tight font.

2. Display only selected password

   When I open Authenticator, I can either see all password or they're all hidden.
   It would be nice to tap on one particular password to display the key. The others remain hidden.
   Because when you have a big list of passwords, it can be confusing to read the right key.

3. Authenticator: view modes

   I use Aegis as my authenticator app. I'd like to switch to Proton Authenticator, but it's missing a few features.

   One important feature would be the ability to change the view. For example, Aegis lets you switch from the normal view to a compact view. This allows you to see the first 10 entries on a single page. You can even make it smaller, so you can fit 16 entries on one page.

   This makes it possible to have the most frequently used 2FA codes readily accessible without annoying scrolling.

   I always copy the Data from Proton Pass to Excel for getting the data on paper (print) just for security if my digital data get lost or i dont get access of different reasons

5. Let Us Fix the Icons You Can't Fetch: Allow Custom Favicon Uploads

   Dear Proton Development Team,

   I need to talk about the generic favicon problem in Proton Pass. I find it an issue & very frustrating when your system can’t fetch a simple favicon, and just defaults to the same generic human silhouette for every un-fetched entry. The default icon [A light coloured, Proton purple human silhouette on a dark circular background]

   Case in point: I tried to save my n8n.io login. Multiple URLs, no favicon found. What did I get? That same human silhouette favicon....

   Not a letter, not a logo....just a silhouette. It’s the same for Similar.ai, Meta/Facebook/Ollama, Fedex & all of Proton's sub domains! Due to so many auto-fetch fails, I/we are left with zero visual distinction, between completely different services.

   This completely breaks the user experience for me & Im sure many others. To be fair I & so many others don’t identify our bank accounts 🏦, our automation tools, or our email accounts 📧 by looking at the same non distinctive silhouette. I recognize logos. The silhouette just creates so much visual noise. It makes my vault feel impersonal and hard, slow/clunky to navigate.

   Here’s what needs to happen:

   1. Fix or Replace || Auto-Fetch Params

   -Support more file types and icon locations (SVG, PNG, high-res).

   -Actually work for major platforms. If it can’t, give us a real alternative.

   1. Let Us Upload Our Own Icons || This is Essential

   -If the system fails, I should be able to upload my own icon in under 10 seconds.

   -Support .png, .jpg, .svg, .gif, etc.

   -Allow uploads from my device or via image URL.

   -Include a simple crop/resize tool in-app.

   1. If Development is Blocked || Consider an AI-Assisted Solution

   -If the frontend/backend workload is too high for manual uploads right now, consider implementing a lightweight AI fetch layer that:

   -Caches and indexes favicons from a trusted source

   -Generates fallback icons based on site branding colors and initials (better than a silhouette)

   -Runs client-side or via a privacy-respecting proxy

   --> I am passionate about fixing this problem & would welcome the chance to contribute directly to solving this issue. With development experience I would be genuinely humbled to have an opportunity to work with the Proton Dev Team, if I could help implement one of my expertly crafted autonomous ai workflows' w/ custom fit parameters!

   Honestly, this isn’t just a cosmetic nice-to-have element. This is a core usability issue. A password manager is a visual tool. When every unrecognizable login looks like the same default silhouette, the product feels incomplete.

   Please give us a way to make our vaults actually usable at a glance. Let us replace the silhouettes with real logos.

6. Autofill only for OTP

   At the moment Autofill can only be deactivated for both credentials and OTP, I would like to have the option to use Autofill only for OTP.
   I have credentials and OTP in seperate password managers and activating global autofill interferes with the dropdowns and overlays but I'd like to still use the function for OTP

9. Emergency access: message to trusted person

   Hello,
   I saw emergency access for proton accounts is now possible, which is great. It would be even better if we could add a custom message to the trusted persons, which they can see when access is granted. For example: "Dear xy, if you see this message, something bad has probably happened. You now have access to my proton account. Vault x in proton pass is particularly important. Etc"

    If someone changes a password for a login, offer a toggle to allow it being checked with the haveibeenpwned site. All data would be encrypted, or as much as possible. https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords is the site in question.

11. Export Custom‑Domain Alias List as a Locked .txt File with Automatic Self‑Destruct after Import

    Description / Context
    Background – When users create custom domain aliases in Proton Pass, they often need to export the list of generated passwords/aliases to another password‑manager or service. Currently there is no built‑in way to bulk‑download these credentials in a portable format that also respects security best practices.

    Proposed feature – Add an “Export as locked .txt” option to the alias‑management screen. The exported file would:

    Contain the alias names and their associated passwords (or a user‑chosen subset).
    Be encrypted/locked with a passphrase supplied by the user at export time, so the file cannot be opened without that passphrase.
    Include a small “self‑destruct” flag: after the user confirms a successful import into the target provider (e.g., via a one‑click “Import completed” button), Proton Pass automatically deletes the local copy of the .txt file and clears any temporary buffers, ensuring the plaintext data does not linger on the device.
    Why it matters –

    Security – Users can move large batches of credentials without exposing them in plain text on disk. The lock‑and‑destroy workflow aligns with Proton’s zero‑access encryption philosophy.
    Convenience – Bulk export/import is a common workflow for teams migrating between password managers or onboarding new devices. Providing a secure, automated path reduces manual copy‑paste errors and saves time.
    Compliance – Some organizations require that credential exports be encrypted and that temporary files be removed after use. This feature would help Proton Pass meet those policy requirements out‑of‑the‑box.
    Expected user flow
    Select aliases (or choose “All”) in the Proton Pass UI.
    Click “Export as locked .txt”.
    Prompt appears:
    Enter a passphrase for the file (optionally confirm).
    Choose whether the file should be stored locally or sent directly to a cloud storage location.
    Proton Pass creates an AES‑256‑encrypted .txt file containing the selected alias‑password pairs.
    User imports the file into the target password manager/provider.
    After the user clicks “Import completed” (or after a configurable timeout), Proton Pass securely wipes the .txt file from the device and clears any cached copies.
    Technical considerations (optional)
    Encryption – Use the same client‑side encryption library that protects the vault (AES‑256‑GCM).

    The secure link sharing feature in Proton Pass is great, but having more control over how long a link stays active would make it even better. Right now, the available options are fixed - 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, etc. In many cases, 1 hour is too short, while 24 hours is too long.
    Allowing users to set a custom expiration time - for example, 2, 3, or 4 hours - would make the feature much more flexible and practical for real-world use. A simple option to choose the number of hours (or even minutes) could be a big improvement.

15. Please add a feature to allow vaults to be stored locally on a device (phone, computer, usb drive) not just on your servers

    I do understand that your vaults are stored somewhere on your servers. This does have some advantages.
    To my mind it has one big disadvantage. You have and control my most critical information, that is passwords/private keys to my finances, interactions with the state etc. not just my Netflix login. Yes, I understand the vault is securely encrypted as well as you can make it.

    I would like to retain possession of my own vault. I can keep it on a removable physical device (like a Ubikey) so that I can plug it in for only as long as I need to access a password and then remove it. Nothing as secure as an air gap to the internet.

17. Preserve creation date and modification history when importing passwords

    Many password managers, e.g. 1Password, support exporting creation date and modification history along with the login information. Proton Pass ignores those fields when importing the database. Can't switch over until this is implemented.

19. Faster alias contacts w search and multiple select

    1. I have one particular alias that has over 150 contacts and I need a faster way to find the contact I’m looking for to originate a new email with a reverse-alias. Search would be preferred.

    2. I also need a way to quickly select several contacts at a time to start a new email thread instead of copy/paste multiple times.

20. Passkey on Safari Extension for MacOS

    It was great that Proton did create an extension for Safari to use on MacOS. The downside is it does not support passkeys. As more people use passkeys and more businesses requiring passkeys it is currently a no go to use proton pass on Safari.
