  2. Support FIDO Alliance Passkey Import/Export Standard (iOS/macOS 26+)

Proton Pass is currently one of the only major password managers that does not support Apple's FIDO Alliance-based passkey import/export standard introduced in iOS/macOS 26.
Bitwarden, 1Password, and Dashlane all support it. This means users cannot export their passkeys from those apps into Proton Pass on iOS or macOS. It's a hard blocker for anyone trying to migrate to Proton Pass.
    What needs to happen:
Apple published two APIs for this specifically for third-party credential managers:

ASCredentialExportManager — to export passkeys from Proton Pass
ASCredentialProviderViewController — to import passkeys from other managers

Both need to be implemented. The underlying format…

  3. Proton Pass browser extension keyboard shortcuts

The browser extension of Proton Pass currently only allows to auto-fill passwords with the iframe popup that appears over the login input fields. While this works fine, this popup is distracting and time-consuming to manually click it with the mouse.
Thus, I suggest to add keyboard shortcuts that can be customized in the browser settings. For me personally, autofill of the last used login-credentials for the current page would be the most important feature to get a shortcut, but password/alias generation or manual lock etc would also be nice to have as shortcuts, too.

  4. Allow Reordering Fields Within an Item

Add the ability to reorder built-in and custom fields within an item's details. For example, a custom hidden field named "Encryption Password" currently appears after the Website and Notes fields, but it should be possible to move it directly below the main Password field for easier access and better organization.

  5. Keyboard shortcuts

Authy's desktop app is (was) handy in that I could switch to the app and start typing, without using the mouse, to pull up the account for which I need(ed) a TOTP code. With Proton Pass, I have to click in the search bar before typing to search. It would be appreciated and convenient if there were a keyboard shortcut to jump to the search bar in the Proton Pass desktop app.

Additionally, it would be beneficial if there were keyboard shortcuts to jump to different fields of the desktop app and to copy or edit them, without having to…

  6. Password Autofill for Mac

Impossible to use on Mac, due to the inability of ProtonPass to autofill entries. I would like to change from RoboForm (that works flawlessly), because ProtonPass has other features that RoboForm doesn't. Not having autofill for Mac is CRITICAL for me to begin using ProtonPass.

  7. Fully Customizable Proton Pass Entries

Proton Pass stores more than logins — Notes, Credit Cards, Identities, Custom Items, and more. But no matter the item type, every entry comes pre-loaded with default fields you can't remove and an order you can't change.

The ask, across ALL item types:

    1. Removable defaults — any built-in field can be deleted (or auto-hides when left blank). If an Identity item doesn't need a middle name, or a Custom Item doesn't need a Note, it shouldn't sit there empty forever.
    2. Drag-to-reorder — arrange every field, default and custom alike, in whatever order fits the item.

    The current "workaround" for reordering…

  8. Native Mac OS app for Proton Pass

As far as I can tell, on Mac OS, Proton Pass relies solely on browser extensions, which becomes cumbersome when using multiple browser profiles. A dedicated Mac OS menu bar app would provide a more seamless and convenient access method. With a menu bar app, I could:

    • Access my passwords across all browser profiles without reinstalling extensions
    • Quickly retrieve credentials without switching browser contexts
    • Enjoy a consistent password management experience similar to 1Password's menu bar implementation

This would significantly improve the user experience by offering a universal, always-accessible password management solution.

  9. Feature Request: Alternative Autofill Methods (Keyboard Shortcuts, Context Menu, etc.)

    Hi Proton Pass Team,

I am a Proton Pass user and I really appreciate the privacy-focused features you provide. However, I am writing to strongly request the implementation of alternative autofill methods for the browser extension.

Currently, if the inline menu fails to appear or is blocked on certain websites, the only fallback option is to open the extension, manually copy the username/password, and paste them into the fields. Clicking on a login item inside the extension popup does not force an autofill either. This manual process is quite frustrating and disrupts the workflow.

Competitors like Bitwarden and 1Password already…

  10. Proper macOS autofill support

I'm a longtime 1Password user who just migrated to Proton Pass and am already starting to rethink my decision.

I noticed that the Proton Pass Mac app doesn't actually support autofill and passkeys like 1Password does. You guys figured this out on iOS, please fix this on macOS (see screenshots below).

    iOS: https://cln.sh/rJN07QG1

    macOS: https://cln.sh/LVhbv8vX

Additionally, the lack of support for passkeys, oauth, file and image attachment support is pretty disappointing.

Please fix this so I don't need to migrate back to 1Password 🙏

  12. Add spell-checking settings: disable spell checker and select languages

    Description

Please add spell-checking settings to Proton Pass, especially to the desktop application.

Currently, Proton Pass performs spell checking automatically, but there does not appear to be any user-accessible setting to control it. On Linux, this can result in valid words being underlined in red when Proton Pass uses a different language from the language being typed.

For example, using Proton Pass Desktop on EndeavourOS (Arch Linux) and regularly work in both Estonian and English. English text is currently shown with red spell-check underlines, and I cannot find any way in Proton Pass to either select the correct language or…

  13. Advanced security monitoring

The existing dark web monitoring feature is good, but Proton Pass could offer much more in this area. A real-time dashboard that not only reports data leaks but also provides specific recommendations for action and even suggests automatic password changes for affected accounts would be ideal. Integration with Proton Sentinel could detect suspicious login attempts and proactively warn the user before an attack is successful. A feature that automatically evaluates the security of websites you log into and warns you about unsecure connections or suspicious certificates would also greatly increase security.

  15. Improve Password Sharing

I wanted to share some feedback regarding the “Proton Pass User” feature.

Currently, when sharing a password with another user, it appears that the recipient also needs to be on a paid plan. I believe it would make more sense if only the owner — the person sharing the password — was required to have a paid subscription, while the receiver could remain on a free plan.

In many real-world situations, users need to share passwords with family members, clients, or team members who may not want or need to purchase a paid plan themselves. Requiring every recipient to upgrade…

  16. Automatic passkey upgrade

Apple's password application in IOS 18 has the ability to automatically update your password with a passkey for websites that support it.

For those that are unaware of this feature, see: https://9to5mac.com/2024/07/22/this-feature-in-ios-18s-passwords-app-could-one-day-make-the-app-obsolete/

Please consider adding a feature like this to Proton Pass.

  17. Proton Pass on Mac needs a check for updates feature

Proton Pass on Mac doesn't have a feature to check for updates, nor does it update itself when a new version is available. The only way I know there's an update is to use a third-party app that shows an update is available for Proton Pass. I talked to Proton Pass support, and they stated, 'Please note that, unfortunately, there is no check for the update button. You will have to download the latest version from the download page.' A password manager has significant security implications; if an update is available, the user shouldn't have to guess to find it.

  18. Force passkey interception

Now, if proton pass is lock, proton extension will not catch the passkey request.
I see someone ask for no interception at all
I think the default behavior is important (catch if proton is unlocked, else let OS manage)
But add a 3rd option to always catch passkey and prompt to unlock the extension

  19. FIDO2 Certification

There's a growing number of websites that only allow FIDO2 compliant passkey providers. Would be nice, if Proton would adapt this licence or at least give the user a choice when creating passkeys between it's passkey system and FIDO2 compliant one.

  20. Automatic Synchronization Between Proton Authenticator and Proton Pass

Please consider adding automatic synchronization between Proton Authenticator and Proton Pass. Currently, the sync feature within Proton Authenticator works well across devices, but there’s an issue: when I create a new login or account in Proton Pass and add the 2FA code directly there, I sometimes forget to also add it manually to Proton Authenticator.

It would be ideal if both services were seamlessly integrated, so any authentication codes added in Proton Pass would automatically sync with Proton Authenticator. This would save time, reduce manual work, and help prevent losing access to accounts due to missing codes.
