2. Enable all predefined field types in "other" > "start from scratch"-entries

   The "Other" > "Start from scratch" entry type is super useful, but it could be a lot more user friendly if more or preferebly all predefined field types and the respective functionality that comes with them were availabe.

   At the moment, only Text, TOTP, Hidden and Date are selectable.

   Being able to select the field Password, with the randomizer option as when creating a Login entry, would be a great improvement.

   A use case is my non-proton email adresses; I like to have them all gathered in a pinned item called "Emails". I have created one "start from scratch"-entry where I have added one section per email adress, where each section contains the fields Adress ("text" field type), Password ("hidden" field type) and 2FA ("TOTP" field type).

   The problem here is having to put the passwords in as "hidden" text fields, as they lack the functionality to randomize a password. So whenever I want to randomize a new password I have to do it some other way, for example by creating a new "login" entry and utilizing the Password field type there to create the new password, then copy and paste it into my "start from scratch" entry.

   This whole process is cumbersome and seems unnecessary, given that the Password field type is readily available in other entry types.

   The "Other" > "Start from scratch" entry type is super useful, but it could be a lot more user friendly if more or preferebly all predefined field types and the respective functionality that comes with them were availabe.

3. More options for "Auto-lock after" and allow "Auto-lock after LAST USED"

   1) More timing options:
   Today the "Auto-lock after" has just a few options, I'd like to see a couple more other than
   - 1min
   - 2min
   - 5min
   - 10min
   - 1hr

   Maybe add a couple more and allow a bigger upper limit:

   • 30 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes. I've seen some pass managers to allow up to 4 hours.

   Or, just set an bigger upper limit and let the user give their own number between 1min and X hours (new upper limit)

4. Add ability to hide "add extension" bar at the top of the screen

   Currently, when using Proton Pass on web without the extension installed, a small banner will persist across the top of the screen prompting the user to install the web extension. It would be a nice feature to be able to remove this banner via a small 'X' in the corner.

   Hi there, I'm no professional UI designer, nevertheless here are my suggestions to rethink the future design of Proton Pass.

   My opinion is that redesigning should take care of the main purpose of the application and the future usage trends .

   🌏 Context
   Today, Proton Pass is only seen as a password manager with identity add-on. There is a huge movement to change the IT environment to evolve to a much more privacy respecting paradigm.
   Blockchain is the founding brick of this movement and it is about to be rebuilt with privacy by design in mind (ZKP, FHE).

   💡 Idea
   Considering multiple experiences I already made in this area, the critical element missing is an efficient and user friendly identity manager . This should not only cover websites and aliases, but also wallet addresses which also represent an identity in Web3/crypto.

   🔜 It's not about just group data within a password container and moving fields around anymore. In my opinion it's about restructuring the data around specific identities you use to order a pizza, connect to a gaming site and also connect to a crypto dApp to perform transactions. The central element should be the identity .

   ✅ Reflection points
   I don't have a clear view of how it could look like at the moment, however I already know that:

   • it must have a much more accessible design than Proton Pass has currently with identities and aliases which are two distinct entries thus giving a cluttered display
   • crypto wallets must be a part of the identity management (they're already replacing e-mail addresses in Web3 >> DMail for instance)
   • as I am writing these lines, I realize that the boundary between an identity manager and a crypto wallet gets thinner and thinner...

6. Vault-Based Contextual Filtering

   When I select a specific vault (e.g., "Work") from the main extension navigation, it might be more intuitive and user-friendly if both the autofill dropdown and the list of items within the extension only displayed the credentials stored in that particular vault. Credentials from other vaults (such as personal, freelance projects, etc.) could remain hidden unless I intentionally switch to another vault or choose the "All Vaults" option.

   This would also help in situations like screen sharing during a meeting, where it's better not to show personal or unrelated accounts. It would be a simple but effective way to improve privacy in professional settings.

   This approach would essentially allow users to define a "context" for their browsing session, ensuring that only the most relevant information is surfaced. This seems very much in line with the core purpose of having separate vaults.

   When sharing a password in Proton Pass with another Proton Pass user, the secure link sharing feature is available only for paid users. It would be helpful if paid users could share individual passwords with free users, instead of having to share the entire vault.

8. Enable vault-wide monitoring exclusion

   Currently, "Exclude from monitoring" only applies to each individual item. However, doing this for each account is onerous. Please enable right clicking into an existing vault and allow users to "Exclude all items from monitoring" on a per-vault basis to simplify the process.

10. Allow syncing catch-all aliases to a separate vault

    Currently, we can automatically sync all SimpleLogin aliases into 1 single vault. This is great but can be improved for users who use the catch-all feature. Because certain domains receive a lot of spam if catch-all is enabled, it would be fantastic to have catch-all aliases that have been created automatically to sync to another vault of our choosing; this would help us quickly determine which catch-all domains to disable or delete and manage aliases more efficiently.

11. Improved GrapheneOS Vanadium Support

    Autofill on GrapheneOS Vanadium browser is not great. I frequently have to flip back and forth between Proton Pass & Vanadium browser to copy and paste my username / password to login. It would be lovely if someone on the dev team gave GrapheneOS & Vanadium a spin as their primary device and worked to improve consistency in autofill / quick login.

    I know the population of users on GrapheneOS is small compared to Safari & Chrome, but GrapheneOS & Proton have similar missions around security and privacy and the user experience story could use some love.

    GrapheneOS is "The private and secure mobile operating system with Android app compatibility. Developed as a non-profit open source project." Vanadium is "a hardened variant of the Chromium browser and WebView specifically built for GrapheneOS."

    I think that my installation of Proton Pass, which includes the Windows desktop app, the brower extension, the phone app, and the web app, used to offer to autofill website logins more often than it currently is doing so, As such, I would like more information on what affects autofill and how to configure things which make autofill offer suggestions for ID and password for website logins. I realize that websites may be developed such that they prevent autofill from offering suggested login information, but how that happens would be good information to know also. 19. Pepper you passwords

    Proton should better support the use case of salting/peppering passwords. This means manually typing a short suffix at the end of important passwords, such that the suffix is NOT stored in the passwords manager. That way, if the master password is compromised the attacker will not have access to those passwords. The same suffix is used for all important passwords making it easy to remember. Here's a description of this practice:

    This can be done with Proton, but unfortunately it recognizes the password was manually changed and constantly offers pop-up suggestions to store the new password. You can change the browser extension settings to stop the pop-ups for a domain, but this prevents storing a new password periodically. Actually there are separate settings for pop-up suggestions and storing new passwords, but frustratingly these are linked. So when you turn off the pop-ups it prevents the storage options from being selected. Seems like this could be easily fixed by keeping these two settings independent.
