1. Device-bound passkeys with attestation - Please add support

   My employer is shifting to device-bound passkeys with the isBackupEligible flag set FALSE. ProtonPass does not support these Passkeys.

   I am not the biggest fan of Yubikeys (as I misplace and break them), and the only app which supports device-bound passkeys, at this time, seems to be MS Authenticator. 🤮
   Please would you add device-bound key support.

7. Pass: Folders / expandable groups for organizing credentials and card data

   Add a way to group saved entries into “folders” (expandable sections) so users can organize sensitive data more clearly.

   Example: a user stores multiple bank cards. Instead of separate flat rows, they want a parent group like “Bank of America” (collapsed by default). When expanded, it shows nested items such as:

   • Online banking login/password
   • Linked cards (each card as a sub-item)
   • Notes or additional related entries

   This would make the list easier to work and reduce clutter while keeping related credentials together.

9. Reorder Items When Creating/Editing New Login

   When creating a new item such as a login, note, etc, or editing an existing item, it would be helpful to be able to reorder the default and custom values. Right now, if I put in recovery phone and recovery email, and then later decide I want the email to be above the phone, I have to delete the phone and re-enter it in order for it to be below the email. If I had other items under the email, I would have to delete and re-enter more information. This is less than ideal. Better organization options would go a long way in helping users enter data with more ease.

    Accessibility! It's 2025, modern products should have (keyboard) accessibility. Especially for the Authenticator app, it should not be too difficult to build in that you can just go to the search box with Cmd+F / Ctrl+F, type, hit enter or Cmd+C/Ctrl+C and be done!

13. Enhanced Search with Field-Specific Queries and Filters

    As my vault currently contains nearly 1,000 items with Aliases (after moving from Bitwarden), finding specific entries quickly has become challenging. A more powerful, structured search syntax would significantly improve efficiency for all users with large vaults.

    I propose implementing advanced search capabilities that allow querying specific fields and filtering by item properties.

    • Field-Specific Search Allow users to target a search term to a specific field. The syntax could look like this:

    title:live (to find all items with "live" in the title)
    username:admin (to find all logins with "admin" as the username)
    notes:"secret question" (to find items containing this exact phrase in the secure notes)
    url:github.com (to find all items linked to that URL)

    • Property-Based Filters Allow filtering based on the state, type, or location of an item. Examples:

    has:passkey (or passkey:true / passkey:false)
    has:attachment
    is:pinned
    type:login (or type:note, type:alias)
    vault:"Work" (to filter by a specific vault's name)

    • Combining Filters Ideally, we could combine these for very precise queries using boolean operators:

    title:Microsoft AND has:passkey
    type:login AND NOT url:google.com

    • Bonus Feature: Smart Vaults / Saved Searches As an additional feature, allowing users to save a complex filter query as a "Smart Vault" or "Saved Search" would be incredibly powerful. For example, one could create a dynamic vault of all items that has:passkey or all items from a specific url:.

    Benefit:
    Implementing these features would empower users to organize and find their credentials and notes with much greater speed and precision. This would make Proton Pass an even more powerful tool for those of us managing a large number of items.

15. Separate vault profiles or identity containers with password protection in Proton Pass

    Please add support for separating login credentials into different vaults, profiles, or identity containers inside Proton Pass — similar to how "Identities" work in LastPass.

    This request is only for Proton Pass and is unrelated to "Identities" in Proton Mail or other services.

    The goal is to allow users to create separate compartments within their Proton Pass vault, such as:
    1. Personal
    2. Work

    Each "vault profile" should:
    * Be optionally protected by a second password or PIN
    * Be isolated from autofill/search in other profiles
    * Require manual switching (with authentication) to access

    Why is this important?

    1. Security through separation. It minimizes the risk of data leaks across contexts (e.g., using a work password on a personal site), especially if malware targets browser autofill.
    2. Personal/Work life separation. Many users store both personal and professional credentials in one Proton Pass account, which leads to a messy organization or accidental autofill.
    3. Match features in competing products. LastPass supports "Identities" and it was very useful. Proton Pass could adopt a vault profiles concept to meet these needs.

    Bonus features (optional):
    * Assign a vault profile when creating/editing a login or note.
    * Use different default profiles per browser or per domain.

    Prevent autofill/search across profiles without password unlock.

16. Let Us Fix the Icons You Can't Fetch: Allow Custom Favicon Uploads

    Dear Proton Development Team,

    I need to talk about the generic favicon problem in Proton Pass. I find it an issue & very frustrating when your system can’t fetch a simple favicon, and just defaults to the same generic human silhouette for every un-fetched entry. The default icon [A light coloured, Proton purple human silhouette on a dark circular background]

    Case in point: I tried to save my n8n.io login. Multiple URLs, no favicon found. What did I get? That same human silhouette favicon....

    Not a letter, not a logo....just a silhouette. It’s the same for Similar.ai, Meta/Facebook/Ollama, Fedex & all of Proton's sub domains! Due to so many auto-fetch fails, I/we are left with zero visual distinction, between completely different services.

    This completely breaks the user experience for me & Im sure many others. To be fair I & so many others don’t identify our bank accounts 🏦, our automation tools, or our email accounts 📧 by looking at the same non distinctive silhouette. I recognize logos. The silhouette just creates so much visual noise. It makes my vault feel impersonal and hard, slow/clunky to navigate.

    Here’s what needs to happen:

    1. Fix or Replace || Auto-Fetch Params

    -Support more file types and icon locations (SVG, PNG, high-res).

    -Actually work for major platforms. If it can’t, give us a real alternative.

    1. Let Us Upload Our Own Icons || This is Essential

    -If the system fails, I should be able to upload my own icon in under 10 seconds.

    -Support .png, .jpg, .svg, .gif, etc.

    -Allow uploads from my device or via image URL.

    -Include a simple crop/resize tool in-app.

    1. If Development is Blocked || Consider an AI-Assisted Solution

    -If the frontend/backend workload is too high for manual uploads right now, consider implementing a lightweight AI fetch layer that:

    -Caches and indexes favicons from a trusted source

    -Generates fallback icons based on site branding colors and initials (better than a silhouette)

    -Runs client-side or via a privacy-respecting proxy

    --> I am passionate about fixing this problem & would welcome the chance to contribute directly to solving this issue. With development experience I would be genuinely humbled to have an opportunity to work with the Proton Dev Team, if I could help implement one of my expertly crafted autonomous ai workflows' w/ custom fit parameters!

    Honestly, this isn’t just a cosmetic nice-to-have element. This is a core usability issue. A password manager is a visual tool. When every unrecognizable login looks like the same default silhouette, the product feels incomplete.

    Please give us a way to make our vaults actually usable at a glance. Let us replace the silhouettes with real logos.

18. Proactive security suggestions

    Instead of just warning users when passwords are weak, Proton Pass should take proactive action. A feature that automatically generates strong passwords for all accounts and suggests a step-by-step migration plan to the user—such as “This week: Update your 5 most important social media accounts”—would systematically improve security. Gamification elements such as a security score or achievements for good practices could provide additional motivation without being intrusive.

    I have two related requests:

    1.: Add a QR‑code field for loyalty cards. This would let users access their loyalty cards directly from Proton Pass, so they wouldn’t have to carry the physical cards all the time.

    2.: Enable opening attachments directly in the app without downloading them. For security reasons it would be ideal to view an image or PDF right inside the app, avoiding the need to store the file on the device—where it’s easy to forget to delete it later. This feature would also solve the first request.

    Anhänge direkt in der App öffnen können, ohne sie herunterladen zu müssen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen wäre es ideal, ein Bild oder eine PDF sofort innerhalb der App anzusehen, anstatt die Datei auf dem Gerät zu speichern – wo man leicht vergisst, sie später zu löschen.
