Login: Option to choose username or email in login fill selection dialog
There is a problem right here in uservoice, the firefox Pass extension detects the field as a username, but the website requires an email address.
Maybe I'm missing something but the only way to get around this is the manual approach of going inside the PASS extension or webapp, navigating to the specific Login entry, copying the appropriate field value there, and manually pasting it into the website's textbox.
It may be an extension bug, a misdetection or rather a misconfiguration of the website, in that case it may be nothing else Proton could do other than to appeal to…

disable autofill per vault
Disable autofill per vault
This would allow to store customers/friends/etc. credentials without having Proton to list them in autofill.

Secrets Management
Similar to Bitwarden Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault, etc. this would be a great feature for businesses.
There should at least be an event log, an improved permission system, a CLI & SDKs.

Password folders
Set up the ability to separate a vault into folders.
Would also be great if folders could be imported from different password managers.21 votes -

Support HOTP counter-based 2FA codes
So this is a little niche, but my organization uses Duo Mobile for 2FA. I figured out how to strip the token out from the QR code, so I can use it elsewhere... but it's not a time-based token, it's counter-based. I was able to use it with my YubiKey so I now have a backup to the Duo app, but apparently I can't use it with Proton.

Implement native Wayland support for the Linux client
Current client runs through XWayland meaning you build it as an X11-based application.
While X11 has served Linux well for decades, it has limitations in terms of performance, security, and modern use cases.
Wayland is being adopted as the default display server in many major Linux distributions and desktop environments (e.g., GNOME, KDE Plasma). For example, distributions like Fedora and Ubuntu are pushing Wayland as the default, and more compositors (like Sway, Weston, and Mutter) are becoming Wayland-only.
Wayland is designed with better security in mind. X11 has a history of serious security flaws, including arbitrary access to windows and…

Tags for Categorizing Passwords in Proton Pass
Currently, Proton Pass offers a secure way to store and manage their passwords. However, as the number of saved passwords grows, it becomes increasingly challenging for users to organize and retrieve specific entries efficiently. To address this, we propose introducing a "Tags" feature that allows users to categorize and filter passwords seamlessly, similar to the tagging functionality in 1Password.
Objective
Enhance the organizational capabilities of Proton Pass by implementing a Tags system, enabling users to categorize, filter, and manage their saved passwords more effectively. The Tags feature will allow users to:
Add Tags: Assign one or more tags to any…

Make credit cards easier to access in the app
Currently, credit cards are simply another record within your hundreds/thousands of passwords, and to access them, you need to apply a filter.
I have come from Keeper, where payment details have a distinct section and are easily reached from desktop, Chrome, or Android apps.
Proton pass forcing you to filter for credit cards is poor UX design.

Emails viewable in Proton Pass account
some sites send a code to your email to access the account.
Then you have to open your email to retrieve the code.
Would it be possible to have an email field in each account in PP, which would display emails from that account.
Say you're logging into Netflix, you have Proton Pass opened, copying your PW to login. Netflix says a code was emailed.
In proton pass, of your Netflix login info, that email would popup.
Basically any email you received from account x Would also be viewable in PP in account x
Would anyone find this beneficial?

Importing of more data-types from 1Password
You need to support more types of data-import from 1Password, such as software licenses, etc.
I would love to switch to Proton Pass and forget about 1Password (I have used the latter since the day it was released) but this restriction noted above is a deal killer.19 votes -
Needs more nesting to categorize more efficiently
Needs more nesting to categorize more efficiently. I'm using Datavault and the top level is Category with Type under the and then the Items.
So, under Financial I have Banks, Brokerage, Credit Cards, Retirement, etc... Then under Banks are all my bank accounts with account number, login information, PIN, etc...
I suppose I could use titles like Financial/Banks and on, but that's an awkward work-around. Having top level categories just makes it easier to find things and have like items clustered together in a logical way.5 votes -
Option to stop asking to save password
On mobile it asks if I want to save a password to Proton Pass, which is great.
However, it does this every time I use Microsoft Authenticator 2FA, where you have to put in the number shown on screen. It would be nice to have an option to "stop asking for this app".

Being able to add files along with passwords, as other managers like KeePassXC do
There are other application managers like KeePassXC that allow storing a file along with passwords, whether it's an important PDF, a photo, or any file in general.
This is very useful because if I need to store a PDF that is important and private, I can keep it together with the username and password for a specific website.

Auto save a generated password
Many times I generate a password, Proton does not pop up the 'save this password' window after the browser navigation. This means the password that was just generated is lost and I do not know the password for something I just signed up to. It would be really useful if you could click Proton at that point, and it could suggest 'Do you want to save the password you just generated'?
I hit this when signing up to Amplitude just now, but it's about 50/50 whether Proton correctly shows the pop up.

Show entropy and how many years to hack the password in the password generator and in the saved logins.
It would be awesome to see the entropy of a password created in the password generator. Along with seeing how many characters the password is and how many years it would take to hack. Lastly this feature should extend to created logins and also when a hidden field is created the user can enable the hidden field to act like a password. Which would then show the entropy and how strong the hidden field is.
