Support BitcoinCash
I currently use Mullvad, a VPN that accepts three cryptocurrencies; Bitcoin, Monero, and BitcoinCash.
My proposal suggests adding XMR and BCH to both Proton Wallet and the accepted payment methods for Protonmail.
Both of these currencies are extremely reliable, basically free to use, and easily made private with one being opt-in. BTC doesn't have any of these qualities in any shape or form without losing custody or experiencing extreme friction.
Be more like Mullvad, or simply be smart. What use is a wallet if you can't transact?

I just got my renewal email today and still Proton is wasting time with their BTC-only wallet. Unfortunately, I'm out.

It is very surprising that, in 2025, Proton still doesn't support at least XMR !
Proton says everywhere that they are fighting for privacy but still not allow people to pay with real "privacy-focused" Cryptocurrency... -

Integrate Bitcoin Cash as payment option
Protonmail has Bitcoin Core (BTC) as the only crypto payment option and it does not serve as a means of payment, since BTC transactions have expensive fees and often exceed the cost of the service offered by Protonmail, for example today the transaction was about $16 the fee and what I had to pay for the service of Proton was $23.83 dollars. Therefore I suggest that you add as an option to be able to pay in Bitcoin Cash (BCH) which is the Bitcoin that keeps the original properties of the Bitcoin that Satoshi created for payments and the transaction costs less than 1 cent of a dollar. If we compare: less than 1 cent of dollar using BCH vs 16 dollars fee using BTC and both have the same properties, I think it is urgent to add BCH as a means of payment. Thank you and many of us are waiting for this!

I didn't see this suggestion and duplicated it the other day with my own BCH suggestion:
https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/960668-proton-wallet/suggestions/48918788-support-bitcoin-cashCopy-pasta of my suggestion text:
Support Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Please add support for Bitcoin Cash in your wallet.
- It has enough compatibility with BTC, that implementing support wouldn't be massive (relatively speaking).
- It also has some standardized privacy-improving features that BTC does not have (fitting for Proton).
- It also has intentionally cheaper transaction fees (due to the community spirit of Bitcoin Cash of continuing the original Bitcoin goal of being a "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System")
- Finally, it has relatively wide support as a Crypto Currency payment method. -

I'll second this. I'm a long-time Proton user and have given them a pass for not supporting BCH as a method of subscription payment, but now that they have decided to create an actual cryptocurrency wallet, it's time to support BCH. If Proton fails to do this by the time my subscription is up for renewal in approximately one year, I will cancel my subscription. I was on the fence about migrating from my password manager and email service provider to Proton along with my family, but this announcement has actually pushed me away due to the BTC Maxi-ness of it.
