    Proton's formatting limits for e-mail are awful. We cannot control indents, spaces between lines, numbered lists, bulleted lists, and more. The result is unprofessional and, I agree, embarrassing. Worst of all is the inexplicable LACK OF SPELL CHECK (intentionally shouting). Despite hundreds of user posts requesting spell check and complaining about its absence, Proton has not provided this feature. Recently, primarily due to the lack of spell check, I signed up for a different e-mail provider and started the frustrating process of updating all my subscriptions and other accounts. It took me literally years to get everything switched over to Proton and I'm not happy I have to go through this again.

    Proton Mail causes embarrassment. Spell check is readily available all over the Internet, except here on Proton Mail. This is essential for professional use. The small clue Proton Mail offers, underlining misspellings, doesn’t even exist in the subject line. I’ve been embarrassed by my typos far too many times.

    Also, it’s difficult (and impossible, at times) to prepare professional e-mail messages without the ability to indent, tab, and create lists that users can format (such as adding a blank line between entries).

    ADDING TO WHAT I WROTE ABOVE: Please get rid of the default and not-changeable indentation and numbering! Different professions require different formats.

    ADDING SOMETHING A SECOND TIME: Turns out the red unerlining for spelling is from Grammarly, not Proton.

    I so strongly regret switching to Proton Mail. And now, I give up.

    Like most others:
    –a primary reason I switched was the separate e-mail addresses;
    –I thought those different e-mail addresses would automatically have separate Inboxes;
    –Filters do not work;
    –Requests for this feature are all over this forum without any response, much less change in features, other than this response that is years old.

    It’s been four years almost to the day since Proton’s zen desk told me separation was under consideration.

    This ridiculous situation, the lack of spell check, and the quite limited formatting have made Proton Mail more trouble than it’s worth. Last week, I purchased a new e-mail system and will now start the multi-year process of moving to it.

    I’m eager for this feature! I thought this was how Proton worked and it’s one of the reasons I bought an upgraded plan. After fully switching over, I found out I was wrong. I tried to manage it by using filters to sort e-mail into folders, one per address, but never could get it to work on my iPhone, iPad, or MacBook Air.

    Unfortunately, there is no Mac version of TinySpell. I looked, and looked again.

    Don’t kid yourself. Nobody is neutral. Every person, every company is a political actor. Saying nothing indicates the status quo is acceptable. Stating disagreement indicates a preference for something different. “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is that good men do nothing” (incorrectly attributed to Edmund Burke). And I endorse Proton’s transparency. I left Facebook due to its hidden agenda and support of inhumane causes, and I’m leaving Twitter for the same reasons … same as hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of others. I don’t want to support and strengthen a platform of any kind that lends support to forces that oppress and cause suffering.
