Enhance Composing functions
There should be a few more composing features such as 1) more robust font selection; 2) indent feature; 3) spell check feature. These are things that are available in any basic email program. Also, the ability to color/highlight text, embed images, and emoticons would be desirable as well.

I am a Gmail user who bought Proton Drive but am not sure about Proton Mail as it lacks many features and I don't feel Proton Mail is fully developed.
1) I would like to see an option to disable "swipe" or have "none" as an option, instead of having "Mark as read", "Star/unstar"; "Trash"; "Move to Archive" and "Move to Spam".
2) Please build a Smart compose (show predictive writing suggestions) and smart reply (Show suggested replies when available)
Thanks

In addition to font selection, color selection would be excellent.

I approve this request because I too find Proton Mail's options for composing very lacking. 😟
1) I agree the choice of fonts in Proton Mail is tight, I think Proton should include at least the most known fonts from each of the Vox-ATypI classification's 11 fonts families in order to satisfy every user's needs and moods such as:
- Centaur
- Garamond
- Times New Roman
- Georgia
- Bodoni
- Didot
- Clarendon
- Rockwell
- Gill Sans
- Futura
- Helvetica
- Arial
- Verdana
- Optima
- Albertus
- Kuenstler Script
- Bickham
- Mistral
- Plumero
- Bello
- Omnia
- Banco
- Choc
- Strangelove
- Old English
- Anglican Text
- American Text
- Manuskript Gotisch
- Comic Sans
- TrebuchetAs for 3) wouldn't a spell check feature be redundant since basically all devices already include their own spell check feature? 🤔
As for coloring/highlighting texts, inserting pictures and emoticons, I think they already have been implemented by now. 😉
But I would have something else to add to your request to enhance composing functions which is more options for texts' colors along with more options for fonts. 😉

I can't believe it's 2024 and **indenting** is still not possible. I compose in MS Word or Google Docs and paste into ProtonMail, which works but is a pain.
(Glad the emoji & color/highlight abilities have been added.)

Proton Mail causes embarrassment. Spell check is readily available all over the Internet, except here on Proton Mail. This is essential for professional use. The small clue Proton Mail offers, underlining misspellings, doesn’t even exist in the subject line. I’ve been embarrassed by my typos far too many times.
Also, it’s difficult (and impossible, at times) to prepare professional e-mail messages without the ability to indent, tab, and create lists that users can format (such as adding a blank line between entries).
ADDING TO WHAT I WOTE ABOVE: Please get rid of the default and not-changeable indentation and numbering! Different professions require different formats.

I'm about to leave proton mail because I can't indent. Its pretty necessary in some cases and I'm really surprised that its not possible...

The ability to choose fonts of an odd numbered size would be beneficial. Outlook uses Calibri 11pt and it would be good to select this due to the popularity of Outlook.

Text formatting isn't all too good:
More often than not I start typing in one size and then end up in another font/size alltogether when deleting, copying/pasting, editing text. -

Make it so you can indent content.
The composer is so rudimentary which is frustrating as i paid for ProtonMail thinking I would have a secure, useful and professional looking email service. It has been disappointing especially for a paid service.
Its a struggle to create professional looking message it the composer.

Hello Proton-Team
As a paying customer, I would really appreciate having similar functions in text formatting as no-cost e-mail providers.
I'm not used to send E-Mails in font size 14.
I have to change font size in every e-mail.
There is no option for tab.
There is no way to make a list with an additional line, because there is no tab.
line distance is too bigI would wish for more options. This is too basic.
Protonmail should have more to offer.I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,

If one sends email using HTML format, then sure, these are definitely necessary. However, they're pointless if one's mail is encrypted with PGP, because what one gets on receiving such a mail is the HTML source (which is not as easy to parse as plain-text or markdown, even for a Web developer).
If you're not using ProtonMail with PGP, why bother?
Personally, I'd like to have the option to choose to send and receive *all* my mail as plain text (with HTML format mails converted to Multimarkdown or Markdown Extra on arrival). I can't find that feature in the settings and suspect it has been removed.

To add to this list, I would like the ability to increase quote level multiple times. The new Beta ProtonMail only has the ability to add or remove the single quote level.
And can we have more text colors (or maybe a hex entry) and the ability to select an in-between font size?

Hi. I am fairly new to ProtonMail but have stumped up for a Plus subscription. I like what I see. As a previous long-time user of Gmail I am used now to certain features as givens. Gmail's formatting options are very good. In particular I would request three for ProtonMail:
1) ability to set a default font for composition
2) ability to set line spacing
3) ability to indent textMany thanks!

More robust font selections should be considered as this is something every basic e-mail program has. Spell check feature is a necessity as well.

I have just migrated to Proton VPN and Proton Mail from Outlook and Gmail. So far I am very happy with my decision. The only feature I am not satisfied with is the very basic formatting/editing capabilities of Proton Mail compared with competitions. It appears to me that Proton Mail receives a lot of “technical” updates, which I do not dislike, but I would like to see more “useability” updates i.e full rich test editing and formatting. I think that this would attract more “normal” users who are more interested in excellent GUI interface and useability features rather then merely technical features.

I moved to Protonmail from Outlook and I like it very much except for the very basic formatting of new messages. It is just little more that text message formatting.
A lot of effort seems to be applied to more technical improvements (not knocking them back) but I think that proper formatting, at least at the level of competitions, would make Protonmail more attractive to more people.

Color fonts, font styles, font sizes, etc.. WOULD BE GREAT! Love the new color folders, thank you.
