I'd say very important. I'm not a gamer but real-time syncing when the files are constantly being modified by an app is causing the Proton Drive background process to crash. This is a recent problem in my experience (current version 1.12.5 on Windows 11)
What I would really like would be a command line feature e.g.
ProtonDrive.exe -startsync
ProtonDrive.exe -stopsync
That would enable syncing to be started and stopped as part of a batch, or using the Windows Task Scheduler or equivalent on other systems.
