I completely agree with this. The current Photos experience in Drive feels very limited, especially when it comes to managing and correcting metadata. Many of us have old or restored photos where Windows updates the “Date Modified” to today, even though the actual photo was taken decades ago. When these are uploaded, Drive Photos prioritizes the modified date instead of the original date taken, which breaks the timeline completely.

There should be an easy way to edit basic metadata directly in Drive Photos—such as Date Taken, description, and ordering—without needing external tools. While photo editing software can fix metadata locally and works well for batch editing, it shouldn’t be mandatory just to correct simple mistakes after upload. Not everyone wants to re-export thousands of photos just to fix dates.

At the very least, Drive Photos should respect the original EXIF “Date Taken” field or allow users to manually override it. This would make organizing large photo libraries much more practical and prevent decades-old photos from appearing as if they were taken today.
