I believe the current policy of outright deletion of chats after 7 days in the free version runs counter to the user's expectations, and is therefore rather user-hostile.
If it'd make sense technically, imho the alternative more in line with users' expectations would be for chats beyond 7 days to remain stored *only client side*, and with that distinction being marked clearly. So Lumo+ would be something akin to a subscription service for sync / backup of those chats.
In any case, easy full-text export, per chat or in bulk, would distinguish Proton from the competition.
Not providing this feature is disrespectful to the user - the low standards set by the competition are no excuse for Proton to act the same way.
