If this is implemented, please also consider the resize possibility to change the size via drag and drop of the sidemenu. When the folder names are really long and nested it should be possible like in other desktop apps to drag the size which is then saved the next time you open the app.

Also in the Android and iOS version in the horziontal view, it should be possible to select the column view. like menue on the left, then messages and preview on the right like with the apple mail app for example. Is quite anoying if you need to check a lot of mails in different folders to always klick the cheesburger nav in the left top, then select a folder, and then select the message

No news? Especially that the web has it, but the desktop version doesn’t :-/

And on iOS allow to collapse the folders and labels separately which can be very numerous...

Looks like this was first brought up in 2020 and "planned" since July 2024. Are you guys going to ever actually do this? I'd really love to finally fully ditch gmail and pay the higher tier for Proton.

I'd like a setting for
a) All folders are collapsed* by default and
b) A button to "Collapse* all folders".
* By "collapse," I mean vertically, like any folders that have subfolders are collapsed to hide those subfolders.

This is driving me crazy.

Outlook has this feature. It's very useful when dividing screen space while multitasking between windows.

The left-hand menu sidebar occupies excessive space. Could we implement a new layout feature allowing users to collapse it? This feature would function similarly to Gmail's sidebar: when the mouse hovers over the area, it expands, and when the mouse moves away, it collapses. This would improve usability and maximize screen real estate.

Vote for this! It is one of the reasons why I continue using gmail. Gmail is still the gold standard for me.

I normally split my screen on two section, on the right for notes and on the left for the browser (where Proton Mail lives). When I switch to Proton Mail it's impossible to read email because it's just not responsive.

The left side bar and email list should collapse while reading a single email and there should be buttons for next unread email or similar.

I believe this is very important for usability reasons.

I read my emails on the vertical monitor, this feature is essential and the lack of it is really annoying.

Indeed, the left side folders are only needed when I need to switch folder. But most of the time when we are browsing the email list and reading the mails, the menu is just a clunky waste of space.

Would be nice to collapse the left-hand menu on the web app when the browser size is not too big. This is useful when pinning a window or having limited width space available.
