   Please enable notifications on android through websocket or Sunup. Proton markets itself as a privacy consious provider. I don't think it's appropriate or acceptable to rely on Google Play Services (UnifiedPush / FCM) as the sole or mandatory method for push notifications on Android.

   By forcing users to rely on Google’s infrastructure to get timely email and calendar alerts, privacy-minded users who run de-Googled devices (like GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, or LineageOS without microG) are left with a subpar experience. They are either forced to disable push notifications entirely and rely on battery-draining polling, or compromise their threat model by connecting to Google’s servers.

   Proton’s mission is to provide an ecosystem free from tech giant surveillance. Supporting self-hosted push standards like UnifiedPush (via Gotify or Ntfy) or maintaining a direct, energy-efficient WebSocket connection directly aligns with that promise. Giving users native control over their push delivery mechanism would eliminate the dependency on Google, uphold user sovereignty, and set a standard for true privacy on Android.

   Please consider adding alternative push notification protocols to the Proton Android app ecosystem.

2. ”Send a Copy” (Alternative to Forwarding)

   Proton Mail could benefit from a "Send a Copy" feature similar to Fastmail's option. Instead of forwarding and creating a new sender, it would send a copy that preserves the original message's metadata.

   Use Cases:
   Archiving to a secondary account (e.g., separate Proton address)
   Professional delegation without losing the original sender
   Cleaner reply chains — recipients can reply directly to the original

3. Option to Add Email to Existing Contact

   I’m finally on browser exploring Contacts that’s only accessible on browser apparently (boo hiss!) Awhile back I was to be able to add or edit contacts within the iOS app. Please restore this! ^_^

   Sorry, but onto my improvement suggestion! Please give us the option to ‘add email to existing contact’! When I tap to add an email address within an email, it only gives me the options to ‘add new contact’ or ‘copy.’ This addition would save a few extra steps to add or update contact details. Pls and thnx for your consideration! ^_^

4. Integrate alias contacts with mail contacts app

   I use mail alias a lot. I have a unique address for almost all my services. I like this feature a lot, but it's annoying that every time I create a new alias, with a new contact asociate with it, I have to copy the address proton pass or simplelogin create and put it into the address box.
   I think it's a way better to INTEGRATE contacts from ALIAS into the contacts section of the mail, just to select that contact (the one attached to the alias) just as normal contact. In fact, the better way to make alias really useful it's to integrate making alias and sync alias into the contacts app in a bidirectional way: from contacts to alias AND from alias to contact

5. Sending E2EE emails to non-Proton users without the manual password/key hassle

   I’ve been a very happy user and I’m incredibly grateful for what the Proton team has built. Proton is easily the best at privacy when both sides are on the platform, but recently I’ve been sending a lot of sensitive documents—IDs, bank docs, and contracts—to government officials. It’s made me realize that while Proton is great for privacy if both sides use it, it’s still a huge headache when your recipient isn’t a Proton user or a tech freak.

   Right now, we have two options for non-Proton users, and both have major real-world friction. First, there’s PGP. Unless the recipient is very tech-savvy, that’s out of the question. You can't ask a government clerk or a busy accountant to manage keys just to read your email. Second, there’s manual password protection. This is where it gets tough; I have to find a separate way to call or text the person just to give them a password. It feels unprofessional and creates so much friction that many people just give up.

   I’d love to propose two separate features (likely for Proton Unlimited and Business) to bridge this gap:

   1. Legally-binding "Electronic Registration" (Similar to IncaMail from Swiss Post): For both private individuals and businesses, we need a way to send an email that has legal weight. This would be a "Registered" option where the recipient must electronically sign for the email to decrypt it. To make this work while staying Zero-Knowledge, users could securely upload their ID to their Proton account—stored with end-to-end encryption so even Proton can't read it.

   When a "Registered" email arrives, the recipient would "sign" it with a simple, intuitive gesture (like a "drag-to-unlock" switch). This signature, backed by their stored ID, would generate a signed receipt proving the recipient's identity and the exact time of delivery. This would be a game-changer for official correspondence, legal filings, or contracts that require proof of delivery.

   1. Automated Identity Verification (OTP or Secure Link): This feature doesn't need to be legally binding; it's purely for making everyday secure communication convenient. To stop the hassle of manual password sharing, we need an automated verification system that doesn't require the sender to manually coordinate passwords:

   Integrated Verification: When the recipient clicks to open the email, they are prompted to verify their identity through a standard flow (like a one-time code sent to their mobile or a (secondary) email already on file).

   Secure-Key Link: Alternatively, Proton could generate a unique, secure-key link displayed in the email inbox when opening the email. The recipient is led to an encrypted browser environment that verifies they are the intended recipient through a pre-constructed flow, then decrypts the message right there.

   This removes the human element of having to coordinate a second communication channel myself. Even the most tech-illiterate and lazy people can handle an SMS code, email verification, or simply clicking a link and following a clear verification flow

   By implementing these, Proton would make it so much easier for Proton and non-Proton users to communicate privately. It makes privacy and legal security very convenient, regardless of what provider the other person uses.

6. LibreJS compliance

   It would be great if Proton Mail was usable without JavaScript or using JavaScript that is compliant with LibreJS. It's not currently recommended by the FSF because of this. https://www.fsf.org/resources/webmail-systems

   • linking between sent messages and replies

   • timeline view of a case or incident
   • stable Bridge integration for external workflow tools

   These are not requests for CRM functionality.

   There are 112 page of ideas, but how old are they?
   
   When does Proton review them and add their comments? 95% are just left lying there with only the number of votes. It is not very conducive to leaving more comments.
   Many suggestions are not clear/ too abbreviated - shouldn't someone at Proton go back to the person posting and ask them to edit their post to make it clearer?

    Please add a simple toggle or an optional second time-zone bar to the calendar view.

    Often scheduling events with people in other time zones requires annoying mental math or switching tabs to check conversions and can be easy to make mistakes or get frustrated when the clocks change.

    A second time zone on the left of the main calendar can help. Other apps do this with a "sticky" secondary timezone label at the top of the sidebar. For example, you could permanently see both your local time (GMT+1) and your colleague's time (GMT+7) side-by-side.

    The instant, at-a-glance clarity removes friction, prevents errors, and makes the calendar easier for global, remote teams and international contacts.

11. Mail inbox could use space more effective

    The current mail UI is using a lot of space, but not very efficient. As a lot of my mail contacts don’t use avatars, switching this feature off should also disable avatars with a character and a color.
    Using a label uses 1 line, instead of adding it to the “from” line. Attachments also use one line. A mail with a sender, subject, (first line of mail), label and attachments takes 4 (or 5) lines!!
    A compact view would be great

12. Add built in S/MIME email signing

    It would be nice if mails could be, by default, signed with an S/MIME.
    Proton mail already supports signing mails with G/MIME, but G/MIME doesnt add the little green checkmark on gmail (it just makes my message get an attachement with the key, and get sent to spam).

13. Option to disable links on inbound emails

    It would be awesome to have a switch that disables clickable links on inbound emails. It would require the user to highlight / right click and copy.

    To me this is the most effective form of phishing prevention, just disabling links entirely. Another option would be to open the link confirmation dialog like it currently does, but make the user copy it manually.

    It would be nice for business/family accounts to also set the policy at the org level.

    In both mobile and on web, I would like to control what folders are on the left, especially at the top. Outlook allows one to add folders as favorites and the favorites (if you have any) are at the top of the left side panel.

    The descrepancy in functionality berween PM instances has become problematic for anyone who rotates through thwm daily due to workflow. As a side note, being able to access my paid account on the windows app but not my free account is ridiculous.

17. Drag Labels to Messages

    I’d love to see a more fluid drag-and-drop workflow for labels in Proton Mail.

    In list view, drag a label from the left sidebar onto a message to apply that label. If multiple messages are selected, dropping the label onto one of the selected messages would apply it to all selected messages. When viewing an individual email, dragging a label onto the open message would apply it there as well.

    This would make organizing mail much faster and more intuitive, especially for users who manage workflows heavily with labels. It also feels like a very natural desktop-style interaction that many users already expect.

    When Proton Mail for Android uses the dark theme with dark styling enabled for email content, emails from Google Play remain displayed with a light background. Google Play is a popular service, and these emails appear simple enough to convert to a dark style, as common dark-mode scripts and browser extensions can already handle them correctly.

    Steps to reproduce

    1. Enable the dark theme in Proton Mail for Android.
    2. Enable dark styling for email content.
    3. Open an email from Google Play.

    Expected behavior
    Google Play emails should also be converted to a dark style when dark styling for email content is enabled. This seems like a relatively small compatibility fix and would avoid having to switch email content back to the light theme because of this specific case.

    Actual behavior
    Google Play emails are broken while dark styling for email content is enabled.

20. Time zone switch should include switching it for events

    When I change the time zone it shouldn't change my event times based on how many hours just changed on my phone, if I have an event at 2pm, it's still going to be at 2pm but once I switch time zones I have to manually switch each event to that time zone and time as well or it's the wrong time. There should be a choice to make all events change time zones when the calendar does so events stay at the correct times
