Creating events with notifications is tedious
Some points of friction scheduling events:
Adding an event on month view selects by default "All day". I don't think that using month-view justifies defaulting to "all day" events. I like using calendar view just to have an oversight of the month. I never need "all day" events, so this checkbox always has to be de-selected.
To add a notification, it's also needed to click first on "more options", and this also opens a new popup, which is kind of disruptive. Inline experience like e.g. Apple Calendar is much smoother.
Default notification options: "notification 15 minutes before" and "email 15 minutes before", is a bit weird default, and to customize it's needed to change both every single time, as well as enter manually the minutes/hours and time unit. I, for example, usually add x hours before and x days befors, and it's a lot of inputs and clicks. Here again Apple Calendar seems worth giving a look, where it's possible to select options quickly. A middle ground could be to be able to save default times.

Move to option improvements
The folders can be filtered in the desktop application, but not in the iPad or iPhone application. Please offer the filter there as well.
In addition, it would be desirable if the path were visible when filtering the folders. This would allow you to distinguish between two folders with the same name but different parent folders. Outlook does a very good job here.2 votes -
Preserve Reverse Alias When Forwarding Your Own Sent Messages
When an email is sent via a reverse alias, forwarding that same message (e.g., to add a missed recipient) reveals the sender’s real Proton Mail address instead of the alias. Users must manually edit the forwarded message to hide their real address, which is easy to forget and defeats the privacy purpose of reverse aliases.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a reverse alias (e.g., alias@protonmail.com).
- Compose and send an email to Recipient A using that alias.
- Realize you omitted Recipient B and click Forward on the sent message.
- In the compose window, add Recipient B and send.
- The forwarded email’s From/Reply‑To header now shows your primary Proton Mail address, not the alias.
Expected Behavior:
When forwarding a message that you originally sent using a reverse alias, the forwarded email should automatically retain the alias in the From/Reply‑To fields, keeping your real address hidden without any extra effort.
Suggested Solution:- Automatic Alias Retention for Forwarded Sent Mail
- Detect that the message being forwarded originated from a reverse alias.
When the user forwards that message, pre‑populate the From and Reply‑To fields with the original alias.
Show a non‑intrusive indicator (e.g., “Forwarding using reverse alias”) so the user knows the alias is being used.
Optional User Preference (under Settings → Aliases → Forwarding)
“Preserve reverse alias when forwarding my own sent messages” (ON by default).Allow advanced users to disable the behavior if they intentionally want the real address shown.
Thank you in advance

iOS API integration
It would be very helpful if Proton Calendar supported easy event imports from other apps on iOS. Since I travel frequently by train, it would be great to automatically add trips to my calendar using the iOS share sheet in train planning apps like ÖBB Scotty.

Exclude Archive toggle in Search
User Story
Contextualised User Story: As a user who has made extensive use of folders and labels via filters, I generally use "All mail" for search, however this pulls even archived mail. If I've relegated mail to archive I'd like to be able to easily exclude these from an All mail search, unless I'm specifically wanting to search archive.
Simple Form: As a user I would like the option to simply exclude archive in an "All mail" or other search. With configuration preference to have this checked on or off by default and toggleable in the search interface.
Proton Product Roadmap Benefits
This would provide mail serivce performance benefits as users archives grow, improving search performance and load.
This would also benefit business and enterprise customers who may have higher demand legal archiving requirements and provide a basis for warm storage options.

Preserve the entire message body; ability to view text/plain or text/html by default
Currently Proton Mail strips the text/plain content from the body of a mixed content email (e.g. email with both text/plain and text/html). Proton Mail should preserve the entire message body intact. Besides the uneasy feeling I get knowing that email messages are parsed and stripped of content, stripping the

In any case, email message content should not be parsed/stripped (inspected?) and users should be able to configure any email client to view email messages with either text/plain or text/html by default.Currently Proton Mail strips the text/plain content from the body of a mixed content email (e.g. email with both text/plain and text/html). [ProtonMail] Suggest Linked attachments instead of attachment direclty in the mail
Hello
I saw an article from bluemind blog which talks about linked attachments (https://blog.bluemind.net/en/feature-focus-linked-attachments/)
Would it be possible to implement this feature on Proton mail. If the file is not originally stored on drive space it would be stored automatically on a dedicated drive folder .
Link and file retention tuneable (for companies) would be a nice to have.
I think that kind of feature would help reducing global carbon footprint of mails due to attachments.

A feature that shows the number of emails in each specific folder
Could you add a feature that shows the number of emails in each specific folder?
At the moment, only the page navigation and the total storage size of my account are visible.4 votes -
"Mark as read" button closer to shorthand content
I typically only read the sender & subject line before marking an email as read, because the content of most emails is typically not important to me. This proportion of "typically" is upwards of 80%.
It is annoying to typically mark most of my inbox as read, when the "Mark as read" button is so far (in physical screen distance) from the subject lines which I am scanning.
One solution, which may not be the best, is to have a non-default setting to move the "Mark as read" button adjacent to the "Star conversation" button3 votes -
(Add option to) Display all attachments in thread and forwards without having to click on "Show"
It is unclear in the current design that attachments are attached, which increases chances of forwarding unintentionally. This is because you have to do an additional click on a text and there are no colored icons indicating attachments.
Please make it clearer an email contains attachments by showing them directly, for example with colored icons. (Ideally on top of the email/thread instead of below).4 votes -

Choose any day of the week to start your week on
I would like the ability to choose any of the 7 days of the week as the first day of the week, not just Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I think this would benefit people with flexible working patterns/commitments.

Currently I have proton business but is set to max 20 emails, you should add a tab like you have for domains so people can buy extra emails

Hard wrap lines at custom widths
When writing plain text email, I typically want (or sometimes need) to enforce a maximum line length/column width in my email to ensure it is easily readable. Most commonly this is 72-80 columns, but can occasionally vary to 100-120 columns. To my knowledge, Proton Mail doesn't provide a way to hard wrap lines in this manner. So I currently have to write these emails in a separate text editor which does hard wrap lines before copy-pasting it into Proton Mail.
This is obviously quite tedious, and it would be a lot easier if Proton Mail included this feature. Perhaps there could be a setting which sets the default column width at which lines would hard wrap. And options to adjust or enable/disable it when writing a particular plain text email.

postpone Emails in Sent Folder
It would be great if I could postpone Emails which are in my Sent items box, like we actually are able to do with the Inbox.
Alternatively, you may allow the transfer of a Sent Email to the Inbox and then we would be able to Postpone it.2 votes -

Feature to log-out after a period of time
I'm using Proton Mail in conjunction with Proton Pass. Proton Pass is a vault and forgetting the password to it can be DISASTER.
I guess Proton should add the feature "logout after a period of time" to all apps to RETYPE password for safety coz when it's logged in always and without reentering password, a user like me may accidentally forget the password after some months or so.
There's a current option called 'keep signed in', a checkbox during logging in, but users those use the Hibernate feature of Windows won't have this checkbox being useful coz there's no tab close, no browser close.
