  1. Remember or set default mailbox sort

    Every time I open Proton Mail I must select my preferred inbox/folder sort. For web, I can bookmark the query parameter, e.g. https://mail.proton.me/u/0/inbox#sort=date. Still, it's impossible to bookmark a view on Proton Desktop (Mail, Calendar), so I must select my preferred sort manually each time I open the Desktop app.

    I'd love for Mail to either remember my previously-selected sort, or to allow me to define a default sort.

  2. Schedule recurring/repeating events by the 'third Wednesday of the month' or 'last day of month'

    Sometimes I need to schedule something based on the day of the week and the number of weeks in the month. In other words, if I have something that occurs on the "third Wednesday of every month," I can't schedule it to happen monthly since the number of weeks in a month varies. There is currently no option for this, and I've had to resort to manually calendaring these events individually.

  3. warn when reply to is different than from

    I just had a fishing attempt from someone I know, and the phisher had set the reply-to address to be a different account. I initially did not notice because the To line for reply does not show the email address by default.
    It would be good if there was a warning that the reply-to is different than the From address.

  4. Allow moving UI elements, like archive and trash, to different columns in the mail view

    I would like the archive and trash icons to be movable so that I could have them between the multi-select box and the subject/message preview. This would make managing my inbox easier, since the message preview column is quite wide and the archive/delete buttons can be hard to see their relative alignment, especially on large monitors using the webapp.

  5. proton.me addresses are sometimes not recognized as a valid address

    I am not sure if there is a solution to this issue. Some retailers and businesses do not recognize proton.me as a valid email address, and I am forced to use a Gmail address.

  6. In Windows and Mac add the ability to preview the URL for embedded links

    I would like to see a new feature for Windows and Mac users that allows one to preview the URL of an embedded link behind an icon before clicking it. This is an important security feature to evaluate an email for a phishing attack; As it now stands one must right click the icon, copy the link and paste into an text editor to view it.

  7. Allow drag and drop to sort folders/labels outside of "All Settings" menu

    Every other email client I’ve used lets you rearrange folders/labels with simple drag and drop. For some reason, Proton requires you to open a separate settings menu just to change folder order, which is incredibly frustrating, especially if you reorganize often.

    What’s more confusing is that you can drag and drop default categories like “Inbox,” “Drafts,” and “Sent,” but not your own folders or labels.

  8. Hide email subject in the android app notification

    Even with Extended Notifications setting turned off and the app locked the subject of the email is still visible, which completely defeats the purpose of the the app lock. Many services include OTPs or other sensitive information in the subject line of the email which is visible in the notification.

    While this can be addressed in the system settings, this is not a solution as those can be changed without unlocking the app.

    I propose a setting next to extended notifications that will allow to have the notification show "1 new email" without any information.

  9. Open emails inline in the list instead of reloading the page

    When we use the layout 'row' for emails, clicking a message opens it on a separate page and reloads everything. It feels slower and breaks the flow. Check out how Yandex Mail does it: the email expands in place right inside the list without a full page reload. You can scroll up and down and still see the rest of the list. It's super convenient, fast, and there's no need to hit back just to return to the inbox. Plus it looks clean and modern. It would be awesome to have something similar here.

  10. Calendar reminders

    When I create a new appointment and want to set a reminder the default value is 60 minutes before, which is fine.
    Then you have the option to add another "custom" reminder which I usually use to add the alternative "1 Day before".

    But the default suggestions are:
    * at the time of the event
    * 10 minutes
    * 30 minutes
    * 1 hour
    * 1 week
    * CUSTOM

    which means that you always have to press custom and, edit the predefined value (which is 15),
    set the value to 1 instead, and then finally choose the option "Days" and…

  12. Minimal FCM notification payloads on Android

    I’d like to suggest a privacy-related feature for Proton Mail on Android regarding push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).

    While I understand FCM is required for timely notifications and message content remains end-to-end encrypted, notification payloads are still visible to Google’s infrastructure. Currently, these payloads may include metadata such as sender or subject, even when Android system settings hide notification content.

    Feature request:
    Please consider adding an app-level setting that lets users choose how much information is included in FCM notification payloads, for example:

    Full notification (current behavior)
    Minimal notification (“You have a new message,” no sender/subject/metadata)
    (Optional) Silent…

  14. Create a Not Spam option

    It would be nice if there was an option to mark an email as "not spam" after it has been filtered to the Spam folder ensuring it is directed to the Inbox for future emails.

  15. Add a 1 button apply all Filters to existing emails somewhere on the main page.

    When creating filters for the first time, you have to either go to the settings menu to create and run them or you have to click the check box of an email > click the move the folder icon > select the folder > select 'Always Move sender's emails'. To apply that filter to past messages, you still have to go into filter settings, and run that 1 filter against the entire inbox.

    If someone has a mailbox that they've never organized, this adds a lot of unnecessary back and forth between the Inbox to select an email and create…

  16. filtering to delete mail from archive that do not have a label.

    Archive can become huge. Some items are labeled, and I want to keep them forever. Other items are not labeled, and I want to occasionally purge them.

    I would like to apply a filter to see all unlabeled email in archive older that 1 year. I can then select some or all for deletion.

  17. Label confirmation

    A recent change to the interface now makes labeling emails counterintuitive. When I select a label to apply to an email, I have to press the "Move" button to apply the change - but the email doesn't move anywhere; it just gets labeled. I would like to continue to be able to apply labels to emails without moving them anywhere - I just want you to change the wording on the confirmation button back to "Apply", which is a clearer description of what is actually going to happen when I press it.

  18. Multiple addresses for groups

    The groups feature lacks support for multiple addresses. Thinking of my organziation with multiple domains, it would be great to allow for having a group multiple adresses as well.

    E.g. office@tld.com, office@tld.eu office@tld.de, ...

  20. Per-sender email zoom with saved settings

    There needs to be an option to zoom emails and remember the zoom level per service/sender. In the Windows app this could be done with Ctrl + mouse wheel (for web it should be handled differently, since that usually scales the whole page).

    Some services, like Steam or banks, send emails with huge layouts. Nothing fits on the screen and it becomes impossible to read. Being able to adjust and save zoom per sender would solve this.
