I am trying to switch over to Proton Mail as my primary email service, but I'm so disappointed that I can't enable GMail shortcuts in Proton Mail... either on the web interface or the beta Mac app. This will prevent me from switching over completely.

Keyboard shortcuts in ProtonMail has been /very/ unreliable, it would lose focus and I keep having to use mouse clicks to get keyboard shortcuts to work again... It would be nice if there was an effort to make the keyboard shortcuts more reliable

I also am used to different shortcuts, and I would love to be able to customize which key does what on my shortcuts.

Gmail has a feature that lets you set your own keyboard shortcuts for actions like archive and star. I use this to bind the `a`, `s`, and `d` keys to archive, star, and delete, which lets me quickly go through everything in my inbox. It would be nice to be able to customize keyboard shortcuts in proton mail as well.

I would love to be able to use Ctrl-Shift-7 to create a numbered list and Ctrl-Shift-8 to create a bullet list as I can (and do very often!) in Gmail. Thank you.

100% that should come as standard no matte the operating system or browser. We can do encryption but not keyboard shortcuts? Doesn't add up.

being able to press enter or command+enter to complete an action would be great. At the moment the keyboard actions work partially (on MAC)

Keyboard shortcuts are critical for people who have difficulty using the mouse due to disability issues, such as tendonitis or blindness. Not having a comprehensive set of shortcuts is a key reason to use alternatives.

Here's another important shortcut need: Adding the ability to go from a message BACK to the enclosing folder/label list. Various email clients do this; for example, in Gmail the keyboard shortcut is U.

Easily being able to quickly navigate the entire user interface, such as to different folders, is absolutely a necessity.

Using 's' for spam is serious issue for me. I have 15 years of muscle memory that 's' is for Star. I continually hit 's' for important messages only to have to dig them out of spam. My real worry is that I don't always notice my mistake and my most important emails are being junked.

Agree. User interface standard, once established, is not a place to show creativity and uniqueness. Gmail is the de facto standard now, please follow it.

Would be great to get more keyboard short cuts, eg select all, remove all and than confirmation via enter. at the moment its only partially possible and would be great to be able to operate via the keyboard alone.

It would be nice if the keyboard shortcut to reply (R) and others were enabled for any email in the list of emails in a folder (not just in the open email). This suggestion also applies to access to the Reply and Forward buttons.

Now you just need to finish keyboard access to labels. I can select the message (though that seems a little glitchy) and I can invoke the label menu … but I can't apply the labels.

You're almost there. Labels and moving are HUGE for me, and I suspect many others feel the same.

This is my biggest frustration with the web app.

@Joel, the current shortcuts do include navigating messages with j/k. However, one must first click a message.

I am pretty desperate for these too. The Gmail shortcuts are intuitive to a vim user, and have way more convenient hand placement. Having the Gmail shortcuts as an option in settings would be really helpful.

I'm really sad that the shortcuts seem to have changed with the web update.
