  2. Disable or delay tooltips

The current Tooltip feature should have an option to either completely disable it, or to set a delay before the tooltip pops up.

Currently, when I select emails to delete and then move my cursor up towards the Delete button, this tooltip pops up INSTANTLY when my mouse touches the box to select all, blocking access to the Delete button.

So I regularly have to move past the tooltip and wait for it to go away before I can click delete. This introduces "lag" in the action of selecting and deleting emails, something done on a frequent basis.

  3. Better screenreader support

I am blind and use a screen reader. There is many buttons in the mail web app and IOS app that have no labels. This is simple carelessness. Proton says it wants to make security available for everyone, so why not make accessible design part of your development process so people using assistive technology can use it too.

  4. Separate Options to Enable Auto-Delete for Trash & Spam

My usecase here is I only want mail deleted that I have intentionally marked for deletion. Since spam can sometimes be valid emails that were mistakenly marked as spam, I don't want those to be automatically deleted. Contrasting that, I want mail that I put in the trash to be deleted after 30 days.

Having separate toggles for these would allow for automatic deletion of trash, but not for spam.

  5. When applying a new labels, sort by most recent

When viewing an email and then clicking the "Label as" button: Please sort the labels by usage: most used at the top!

    Example of the current situation:
The first label I ever created is at the top, but that doesn't mean that I need it all the time. It was for a vacation years ago, so it would make sense to have that far at the bottom. I would prefer having the labels that I used most recently at the top, because maybe I want to label a bunch of mails with the same label.

  6. Select timezone when scheduling emails

Currently there is the functionality to schedule the sending of emails.
It would be very useful if the world time zone function was added.
    For example:
Martin is in Miami and decides to send an email to Julia who is in Brazil.
However, there is a difference in time zones from one place to another.
If Martin wants his email to be delivered on the exact day and time he wants, he will need to make some type of external calculation and then schedule the delivery of the email.
If Protonmail already makes this option available, it will save time…

  7. Enable keyboard shortcuts messages list (Proton Mail app for Mac)

Currently when users click a message in the messages list of the Proton Mail app for Mac, then press a keyboard button, the keyboard press applies to the message in the preview pane, rather than the messages list pane. Key examples:
    * Selecting a message in the messages list and pressing down arrow begins to scroll that message's preview in the preview pane, rather than jumping to the next message in the message list
    * Pressing Delete while a message is selected does not move the message to trash, it attempts to trigger a 'delete' action in the preview pane…

  8. Add more dates to a contact

I would like to expand the "Birthday" date field to be a general "Important Dates" category to which you can add an arbitrary number of dates and names for those dates. You could have "Birthday" and/or "Wedding Anniversary" or whatever other dates people wanted to use.

  10. Don't show number of Snoozed emails

Displaying a count on the Snooze folder is contradictory to the purpose of a Snooze folder.

    1) The purpose of snoozing an email is so that it clears (currently) unnecessary clutter from the interface and from the mind. The count however is constantly reminding use of stuff we want to (temporarily) forget.

    2) The purpose of a count is to make sure we don't overlook a mail. This is achieved with a snoozed email by it reappearing in the inbox - there's no need for a second mechanism.

Fwiw, personally I think most folders should have counts (e.g., spam and…

  11. Preview filter results

I have several sieve filters, and it can be difficult to figure out what's working or not other than to see if the desired result occurred. This processing can be slow, and it can be difficult to distinguish between something not working and something not having happened yet.

I would like the ability to show test what a sieve filter would match.

Gmail's filters are able to easily do this because its search and filter languages are the same. Protonmail's is not. Perhaps they should be unified so we could test filter conditionals based on the sieve query language?

  12. Use @passmail.com domain

Another similar request was made here:
    https://protonmail.uservoice.com/forums/284483-proton-mail/suggestions/47150074-allow-use-of-passmail-net-domain-for-default-emai

But I would like to use the @passmail.com domain when making a new address on my account. That domain is far more reasonable to say over the phone instead of protonmail.com or pm.me. :)

  13. Do NOT display attachments from other emails in a thread in the main mail list

Do NOT display attachments from other emails in a thread in the main mail list.
I just paid a wrong, old, bill because the PDF bill attachment from a month-old email was displayed below the current email about a new, this month's bill.
There is no reason to display attachments for old emails under new emails. Please remove this to only display the attachment in the current email.
This is for the web version of Protonmail.

  14. Sending an email from a specific alias could be memorised on each device or based on context

If you have different aliases, the composer always defaults to your account email.
A fantastic feature would be to memorise the alias you use.
    1. per device
    2. depending on the context
Example: if you have a professional device and a personal device, the app on each device could memorise the "send from" address instead of defaulting to the account email. The "send from" could also simply default to "last used" on a specific device.
Example2: if the context is inside a folder for a specific alias, the app could be smart enough to detect that "new message" action does…

  15. Auto-Delete Spam & Trash for free

We already have the ability to automatically delete the Spam and Trash folders. But Free accounts don't have that.

It would be a very nice convenience feature, and I don't think it really costs that much money to do that.

Other private email providers already have this feature, so Proton is standing out by not having it for free.

  16. Update window for desktop app should identify itself

A standalone notification window just appeared out of nowhere in the middle of my screen - without saying what is sending it.

Since such behavior is super suspicious and could be coming from any malicious software, for precaution I had to use System Informer to check where is this window coming from.

Not sure if this is an update 'feature' of electronjs, however, it has to be fixed. I have huge stack of apps running on my system. It's nice to understand who is whistling at the time. Could be bad ETs. :)

    Don't scare your customers. :)

  17. time zone

Display the time zone in the email display for calendar invitations and events. When someone sends an .ics calendar invitation, I have no way of knowing what time zone the event is in, rendering the invitation almost entirely useless.

  19. Make unsubscribe work with SimpleLogin

The current implementation of the "unsubscribe from mailing list" does not cooperate with emails forwarded from SimpleLogin. It currently sends a request to unsubscribe to "unsubscribe@simplelogin.co" <image>. I think it would be nice if it instead made a reverse alias and actually sent the unsubscribe message to the email address that SL forwarded it from.

  20. Unlimited custom domain forwarding addresses

TLDR: ProtonMail offers you to pay them to provide THEIR E-MAIL SERVICE on YOUR OWNED DOMAIN and then acts like they own your domain and limit the amount of addresses you can use on your property. Custom addresses need to be unlimited.

ProtonMail is an E-MAIL SERVICE PROVIDER.
As a base service, they let you taste test how it feels to choose them as your trusted E-Mail service provider. They will provide you an E-Mail from one of THEIR domains, where they provide the E-Mail service for themselves. As they do this for free, they will limit you to…
