Option to disable spam filter
Spam filtering options need to include the ability to whitelist entire domains, such as @example.com. Additionally a disable spam filter option would be excellent. A work around for adding a dedicated button might be a double wildcard whitelist: *@. Thank you.

I'm getting an email from noreply@simplelogin.io stating that "An email sent to your alias xxxxxx@passmail.net from newsletter@xxxxxx.org was bounced by your mailbox xxxxxx@proton.me" .
I need these weekly email to arrive to my inbox but they don't even arrive to the SPAM folder and all they can say is "If the sender's emails are comprised of elements of spam, phishing, or otherwise malicious content, then they will not be able to go through." no matter how much I insist that it is a false positive as I do need that email and I requested it, and when I ask them to provide evidence regarding any malicious content they say they cannot really recover the email so they cannot provide any evidence but.
I'm bewildered by paying for a service to receive all my email and simply being denied that service. -

I am frankly amazed that a 'professional' grade email service imposes spam filtering on its customers ! Even the free GMAIL service lets you receive emails transparently. I like what PROTON are doing, but imposed filtering is frankly ridiculous. A big DISABLE switch is essential. I will be cancelling if this isn't implemented.
(PS: K's suggestion below from June 05, 2023 22:11 to use a sieve filter does seem to work - and is much appreciated, but it's a WORKAROUND and might stop working any time) -

I'm going to re-comment this from a few years ago. This works a treat any emails that go into your spam get marked as not spam automatically and go into your inbox.
Look at the top right of Proton Mail and you'll see Settings, click that go to settings and Filters on the left-hand side, under Custom filters click Add sieve filter, name it "spam->inbox" then copy and paste this into the box below, additionally you can turn it on and off if you want to turn it off temporarily etc..
require ["include", "environment", "variables", "relational", "comparator-i;ascii-numeric", "spamtest", "fileinto"];
if allof (environment :matches "vnd.proton.spam-threshold" "*",
spamtest :value "ge" :comparator "i;ascii-numeric" "${1}")
{
fileinto "Inbox";

I need this. My local email client has spam filtering that I want to use, and for it to work properly I need to ProtonMail to *not* filter spam. Currently this is impossible, and it detracts from the value ProtonMail gives me.

5 year old issue and that only requires a simple toggle on/off button
only adds bonuses for the user, nothing will get broken etc.

I have noticed that many emails that previously didn't go to spam, now go to spam. An example is emails from Amazon confirming an order. The usability of this is terrible and needs to be improved.
In addition, when I mark them not as spam and move to inbox (which requires the web client, I can't do this in Outlook or other clients), it seems like the spam filter does not learn from this. Future emails keep showing up in Spam.
In 2022, this needs to be improved.

On September 16, 2022 my spam count when from 4 to 8 a day to over 100 spam emails. On September 17, 2002 there have been over 100 spam emails and it is only 10:45 a.m.
What happened that all these Spam emails started? Please stop the Spam. (The spam emails are all political emails. -

How difficult can it be to do this?? You come out with a completely new version but you can't fix any of the problems like this that have been around for years! It is very typical for developers. New stuff always get all the attention and the effort, maintenance and small but vital improvements never seem to count.
Get with it and allow whitelisting (or blocking) of entire domains! -

I'd like some control over the spam detection. Spam getting crazy lately. Thinking of leaving for an email service that listens.

That's it. A 5 year old issue that still isn't fixed. I had to pice 400€ extra because I missed an invoice.
FUCK YOU protonmail.
I have cancelled my subscription and will use a different service.

I missed a e-mail money transfer for a substantial amount. This is not ok. I rarely get email in my spam folder and honestly I think the filter gets it very wrong most of the time.

I missed a bunch of check-in-before-you-get-to-the-airport emails to near-disastrous end. Please add this feature. None of the mail in my spam folder is actually spam. Its hard to relate how infuriating it is to miss the important email.
This should be super easy add, just do it. You're clearly burning up goodwill among your customers.

I just paid for protonmail before discovering the lack of ability to disable the spam filter. Luckily it's possible to use a Sieve filter to workaround this brokenness, just move everything it thinks is spam back to inbox:
require ["include", "environment", "variables", "relational", "comparator-i;ascii-numeric", "spamtest", "fileinto"];
if allof (environment :matches "vnd.proton.spam-threshold" "*",
spamtest :value "ge" :comparator "i;ascii-numeric" "${1}")
{
fileinto "Inbox";
}If this wasn't possible I'd definitely be asking for my money back and even if they won't, still would have to find a different mail provider.
Requirement 1 of any mail provider: do not fail to deliver legit mail to my inbox. Or at least if you do, then provide a way of training your shitty spam filter of what looks like spam and what does not look like spam. It should go without saying but whitelisting addresses does not prevent similar looking emails being marked as spam.

Agree with everyone before me, wanted emails often get caught up in spam and I have no way to prevent this as of now. This is low hanging fruit for improving ProtonMail!

It is paramount that no legitimate mail will ever be put in the spam filter. If not, the filter is a total failure, as it forces the user to check the spams anyway.
On top of this, any fool can use services like anonaddy to ensure their mail never reaches any spammer. Just never give your actual mail to anybody but the anti-spam service and the mail provider, and give everyone a different address. As a bonus, you will know who leaked your address if it ever happens.
A fusion between proton mail and such a service would be awesome, by the way. -

We need to disable Spam as it catches too much good email - horrible for users who travel and get lots of time-critical email (that is hidden in the spam folder).

Absolute must have feature - particularly on a paying plan. This feature is included in many free e-mail services.
Go Protonmail - you can do it! -

Please give us the ability to turn off the spam filter. Please give us the ability to disable the spam filter. This is ridiculous.

I just signed up for Pro, and see that you cannot turn off the spam filter. Seriously?????? What if I don't mind spam, what business is it of yours?
What's with the philosophy of data ownership and empowering the user? I was going to add more accounts to the service, but if I have to check the spam folder regularly, that would become unmanageable.
I'll keep the one custom domain with Protonmail because it would be a P.I.T.A. to move again, but I kinda regret it now, and certainly won't expand on it.

Choose whether or not to enable the SPAM folder. I never want incoming mail sent there. I want everything incoming to go to my INBOX.
