Split address mode - separate emails into different inboxes
Separate email addresses are for separate things so it would be helpful to just click an email address from the menu and see only those emails sent to that specific ProtonMail address.
Multiple inboxes.
We are reviewing this idea to get closer to a clean inbox for all our users. We will let you know once we have more updates

I manage tech for a couple non-profits, have access to many email mailboxes, but only need to dive into them when stuff breaks. I would like to separate my stuff and keep separate inboxes.

Any news on this? It's almost 3 years from your "Under review" reply

Agreed, it's annoying having to use Thunderbird + Mail Bridge to get around this.
There are people who have both personal and business email addresses that want the ability to split the accounts and not accidentally email their boss from their personal account.
This post is coming up to almost 3 years Under Review and 5 years since originally posted, how is this not implemented yet??? -

Deal breaker 😢😞
I can't believe this is not yet possible. Sad, sad, sad...

Could you please provide an Update on this instead of launching the 20th app?

This is really important, and it's the main reason why I have to use other mail servers and a different email application (Thunderbird).

How is this not a thing yet? Can we get an update?

this is absolutely critical for me, and I'm somewhat concerned that the "under review" comment is from more than two years ago!!

I would love the option to separate my inboxes easily. I use one for important things I need to see right away, and another for unimportant things like promotional emails that I usually don't need to see. Being able to only get notifications for one/some especially would be great

This! I have 3 custom domains for different companies I run, plus my personal address and it would be great to be able to see them individually as a first class operation. I don't necessarily want actual separate inboxes, but under Views/Folders/Labels I would add Addresses which automatically has an entry for every 'from' address in the inbox with its own Drafts/Sent/Spam/etc

I use folders and filters for the addresses I want to keep separate and it works great. This also allows more granular control over what emails go to your main inbox vs. to a separate folder.

Maybe not separate inboxes, but a functional tagging / filtering system is critical !

Is this not where filters and labels should be used?

4 - 5 years as an idea, 2 years under review, and this is still not an option?
I am starting to regret the switch to "Unlimited"... :/ -

As long this is not possible within ProtonMail for desktop and iOS, it is for me a no go to move other e-mail accounts to Protonmail.

Agreed. I don't see much of a difference between the "all mail" and "inbox" categories in protonmail. The filter/folder/custom domains workaround or using thunderbird for this critical issue just isn't good enough, and we can't reorganize folders for easier access to the proper "inbox" either. I just recently signed up for proton unlimited and don't understand the practicality of having multiple addresses all merged into one inbox - sure I'm coming from gmail but it just makes sense to have the ability to have and switch multiple inboxes for multiple email accounts with different passwords. The subscription can be tied to a single "default" account with the extra email accounts linked (but separate) to the same subscription as the default account.

Keep in mind that this request should have well over 2,000 votes, given that around 1,000 strangely disappeared in July 2024.
Why is it constantly ignored? Perhaps because this free feature could somehow compete with the Duo or Family plans?
For me, and for many other users, it's essential for managing emails across multiple addresses. There's no point in having 15 addresses if all the emails stay mixed up! This can't be satisfactorily resolved using filters and folders.
Thank you for your attention. -

absolutely critical feature. Filters are not the same experience. Even if switching between the accounts just hides all emails to other accounts so we can focus, sort, and search with in a specific email alias that would be so helpful.
Critical feature!

If this feature does not become a reality, it will be difficult for me to stay with Proton. I am very satisfied overall. However, I am ready to drop my 30 year old hotmail account and want a proton address, but not being able to separate my personal email from work email is a no go. More electronic chaos is not an option. The longer I wait for this feature the more I start to think I had best look into a different paid email service. Thanks.
