I understand that aliases are part of the account upsell advantages. I also understand that Proton Mail addresses have security and encryption options not included with Simple Login aliases. However, I think better Simple Login integration for reverse aliases as well as the ability to create addresses in Proton Mail from Simple Login domains should be a feature that could be added while retaining the current account upsell paths.

Today you can make new addresses in Proton Mail, but they're not setup automatically in SimpleLogin as Mailboxes.

Then even once you add them as Mailboxes in SimpleLogin, they're not available in Proton Pass when creating a new alias in Proton Pass.

These should all be hooked together automatically so I can pick my target address from Proton Mail when I'm creating a new alias in Proton Pass.

Agree the integration could be much better and easier to use, but it is technically possible two ways:

Replying to a message sent to the alias will send to the reverse alias so it will send it from the alias even though it doesn't 'look' like it.

Go to simple login and get/create the reverse alias for the address you're sending to.

I completely support this. But I believe this attacks Proton Mail selling point for Proton Unlimited. When you add that feature, having multiple actual emails is basically useless. In fact they are adding so many features that it's becoming difficult to sell higher cost packages. I pay just because, but I could do with a free or basic account to be fair.

I agree the aliasing functionality could be much better - especially as it is no longer new. Several providers offer similar features - Fastmail comes closest to what I'd love to see in Proton. Technically, with reverse aliases this is done, but in a rather disconnected/dysfunctional way. It needs to be done in the inbox, not an entirely separate service.

It would be nice if simplelogin was integrated into protonmail directly (which protonPass seems like how they are planning to do so).

I think (repeat think!) this kind of exists - as long as the simple login address has received an email.

When I have just replied to an email sent to one of my simple login addresses/aliases, it said it was about to be sent from my primary proton address, which I was hesitant to do but sent it anyway (it was a company I trusted).

I have just received a reply from the company and the email receipts appear to have maintained the simple login email address.

Admittedly this isn’t the ability to send a brand new email from simple login alias but it seems (unless I’m missing something in the interaction I just had!) that simple login aliases do get maintained once a company has sent an email to the hidden address.

Please correct me if I’m wrong or missed a point there though!

I will not use an email service that does not allow me to use aliases.
FastMail lets me use an alias.

I have an @Linux.com alias that I paid the Linux Foundation for. I shouldn't have to own the entire Linux.com domain for ProtonMail to let me send emails with the alias I bought.

With Simplelogin we can send emails from aliases. But It is so tired to open Simplelogin and create aliases and copy reverse aliases every time I send the mail. So just integrate Simplelogin aliases to Protonmail directly and make options to send via Simplelogin aliases directly in email sending page.

+ The options have to contain either sending from an existing ailases or create a new aliases.

This is the exact reason I signed up for ProtonMail, however, am using ProtonPass. Very disappointed! I left a service that allowed 25 alias that I could send email from for a downgrade of 15.

This should be the core selling point of Proton Pass + Proton Mail combo. I'm suprised we cannot use this at all...

I hate that I have to choose between using `+alias`s (that I can actually reply with, but leak my email to anyone paying attention) and simplelogin aliases (that do a better job of hiding my email, but I can't reply with, so end up leaking my email if I need to every reply anyway).

If my aliases from Proton Pass were just options to use when sending email, that would be an amazing choice. (Maybe show them in "Identity and Addresses", with the other ones?)

Am using the SL extension in Brave so when replying to an SL aliased email from proton web it does indeed auto populate the "TO/Recipient" field with the SL reverse-alias address.

Exactly, why give unlimited aliases through Proton Pass if it’s not easy to send an email from that alias from proton mail? For instance, I might have subscribed to a clothing store with an alias, and later decide to email them from given alias. It should be easier.

Point 1 now seems to have been implemented somewhere between SimpleLogin and Proton Mail (I see in the headers that "From:" matches "X-Simplelogin-Original-From" containing the actual email address as sender, while "X-Pm-Original-From" has the reverse-alias) - thank you!

Point 2 next would be great - while responding to emails sent to an alias is simple enough, it's still a bit clunky to send a new email from an alias (need to look up the reverse-alias, and use the right mailbox to send from). Being able to select the alias as an email address under "From" when composing a message, then use the actual email addresses rather than having to look up reverse-aliases, would make using an alias as easy as a "real" email address/mailbox, and be a great selling point for Proton Mail / SimpleLogin as a package.
