Flatpak would be ideal, but I will take the deb. Would be nice to have a repo so I could auto-update the deb package.

I just uninstalled the Windows app because it felt just like an "exe wrapper" of the page, and the page on the browser works faster.
So the "app for desktop" unless it actually integrates with the OS (win/mac/linux)... I feel it's useless.

Flatpak version for mail and all other proton services is important

As said before, only distributing apps as .deb or .rpm locks out a significant group of linux users and greatly decreases the value of your services for me. I have been using the web versions of mail and manually entering VPN info for years and seeing dedicated apps released for linux but only in formats that don't work on any of my machines is painful.
Please create flatpak versions or .tar releases with an install script for distribution independent use.

I am running the deb version in Ubuntu 24.04, and experiencing an issue where links always open in Chrome, rather than the default browser (Firefox). Is anyone else seeing this, and is there a fix planned?

Even thou I don't use Linux whatsoever other than my server, I still think this is a really important feature to have. A whole section of users are being ignored.

+1 for an arch package, Appimage would be great too since it would be compatible with most systems.
Please no electron garbage, I have enough dependency problems! -

This is nice but why only rich men are able to use it on desktop? I mean, I've been using the "WebApps" utility from LMDE 6 and it's basically the same except the menu. Just a WebView and the usual web interface.
Why people need to pay for basically using Protonmail Web App inside a WebView container?
Sorry if I don't get it but I'm not asking for more countries with the VPN plan, and you gave us poor people more countries... This seems awkward. Maybe it's just me.
I guess I'd keep using WebApps from Linux Mint.
But it would be fantastic if the release candidate/first official release of the app were free for everyone. -

I use Manjaro (ARCH) KDE as my work daily driver and use a custom ProtonMail domain + VPN. Thank you!

It's my understanding is that the proton mail app is an Electron wrapper around the website. If this is the case, you can install Proton Mail as a web-app in most Chromium-based browsers.

You could also add support for a ProtonVPN for different inits (dinit, runit, OpenRC).
