They mentioned to develop this for Proton Drive 1 year ago and still is not even there. So, I don't see this feature to be made in the close future for Proton Mail.

This will be developed for Drive according to Roadmap for next Winter/Spring, I hope that the implementation can be made also in Mail
https://proton.me/blog/proton-drive-product-roadmap> Better organize files and folders
> As Proton Drive becomes more full featured, complexity is also increasing. Today, you might have to manage files across My Files, Computers, and Shared with me sections. We will be rolling out new copy and move options which will work seamless across all 3 spaces.
> We’re also adding a splash of color to Proton Drive. With the ability to change the color of your folders, you’ll be able to color-code folders to organize work projects or personal files – simplifying the process of finding what you need when you need it.

The promise is broken, no colored folders are available yet in Proton Drive, and they mentioned 1 year ago (November 25, 2024): https://proton.me/blog/proton-drive-product-roadmap

> To support much-requested features like tasks, search capabilities, and offline access, we’ve started work on our next generation of Proton Calendar apps for iOS and Android, which we aim to release toward the end of 2025. In order to avoid duplicating effort, we have been building new features directly into the new app so we can bring you the new app faster
> Building on this new platform will enable us to deliver these and other highly requested features more quickly and with improved performance.

As mentioned in the previous update on this feature, it is now being edited to be a request for slides.
Please feel free to undo your vote if this is not something you want included in Proton Drive.
