At least synchronization of contacts with my Mac contacts (like a bridge) would be handy. Having contacts in multiple places is not a good option, but I still need Apple's contacts for phone calls etc.

According to situation, I add new contacts ether on my android smartphone or my desktop. Now that I use Proton, I have to systematicaly add them on both. So ether a stand alone contacts (best) or a synchronisation of android contact with proton contacts.
It is so critical for me that I seriously think to move back to GMail and remain there until Proton has solved this problem (and thus waist all or part of my 24 month Proton plan) .....

Desperately need a contacts app for Proton. The current contacts methodology of a sidebar is completely impractical, especially when managing or finding a contact from a few thousand. Need to be able to sort and organize contacts with a decent interface. Just seems like a basic thing in a communications software service.

A stand-alone contacts app is essential to a privacy-based ecosystem. It's needed to interface with the phone and messaging apps that I use.

Agreed. I have no desire to post my Proton Contacts to Google just so that I can use Proton Contacts list on my Android phone. This has been in "planning" for years. It must be realised!!!

I would like to see improvements in the contact management method within Proton. Key elements are:

1. Standalone view/edit mode with access to all fields, using device full screen - especially for web (desktop) but also on mobile apps.
2. Integration with email, calendar, phone

Developers, please go through all the existing requests with the "contacts" keyword and consolidate the requirements. I have done a quick scan and the only thing "PLANNED" is sync with phone address book.

I’ve imported my CONTACTS into PROTON CONTACTS. All contacts were transferred on my Apple Macbook Air Laptop as per instructions but the addresses (street/country info) appear in an unidentified line between POSTAL CODE / CITY and REGION / COUNTRY. When I try to access my contacts thru Proton on my MOBILE DEVICES (iPad, iPhone) the addresses (street/country info) DO NOT appear. I have to select EDIT/CONTINUE ON WEB to see them in that strange location mentioned above. If I re-type the address and put the information in the proper fields it will then appear on my mobile devices. However with over 500 contacts, I do not think it is feasible to accomplish this in my lifetime... not at my age :-).
Also, the location to access CONTACTS on mobile devices - at the end of the FOLDERS and LABELS list - is quite tedious particularly if you have many LABELS and FOLDERS. It would be nice to have a dedicated app like others applications to expedite access... just saying. I read in another post that this has been 9 years waiting for change, REALLY? I was told that the modification is complicated and would take time… but 9 years?
I now use a workaround while waiting. In my Vivaldi browser I made a Speed Dial to the web version of Proton Mail. The Speed Dial can be accessed with my mobile devices. I have full access to all the info in my Contacts (right hand side) and don’t have to scroll all the way down Mail’s folder/flags column to access. The addresses are still in that same bizarre unidentified field but at least all the information is available. 9 years! Hopefully Sam Cooke song will one day ring true : “It’s been a long, a long time coming, but I know a change gon’ come, oh yes it will.”. Fingers crossed!

This feature was promised years ago and will hopefully be implemented as soon as possible. I don't want to have to maintain my contacts separately on Google and Proton.

I agree with that idea. It is also needed for MacOs and IOs. This is the only thing that ties me with google : the contact list. As I have several email accounts, some professional (non Proton) and other personal (proton) I cannot only use proton mail app and I need to share my contacts with non Proton apps.
A Proton contact app or the ability to share contacts such as it is possible with iCloud is therefore indispensable

I want to use Proton contacts as my default contacts on Android (and or iOS) just like iCloud and Google. Please please develop this.

I want to leave Google Contacts and be able to have a cloud saved contacts list that I can easily use with iPhone and Android.

it would be good to have this for IOS to replace Apple's offering. If you have a lot of labels (as I do) scrolling down to the bottom of the IOS app to get to contacts is overly time-consuming and a faff.

For me it is not critical that it is a stand alone feature, but better contact management is the main thing missing from the Proton suit. The contacts need to integrate better into the email client, be more flexible, and preferably work as a replacement of keeping contacts on my phone (synced with google, not a fan of that...).
