2. Calendar as a default state for desktop app?

   Hi! Is there an option to launch the desktop app with the calendar as the default state? It's annoying to constantly switch the app when I just want to take a look at my daily schedule... Or maybe two shortcuts for launching the app in two different states are the solution!

3. Import contacts direct to group

   When importing new contacts to Proton, it would be very helpful to be able to import them direct into a contact group in Proton.
   Alternatively, release a separate Contacts module where contacts can be flexibly sorted and managed so, for example, a most recent import list can be identified by import date and assigned to a group.

4. Export email in folders and subfolders to file like .pst

   It would be very useful to be able to export folders and subfolders containing e-mail to a .pst like file.
   Just like the import/export function in Outlook.

   Preferably the function should be built in to the Proton mailclient.

6. Autofill / autocomplete event details

   Other calendar apps I’ve used will recognise if I start typing the name of a previous event and autofill the names, location, time and other details. In addition to being able to copy and paste irregularly repeating events, I would like this feature so I don’t have to go looking for a previous instance of an event in order to copy it.

7. allow setting default notification for folders

   When creating new folders, one option is where you want notifications for the folder. It defaults to showing notifications, but I don't want any of my folders to do that, so there should be an option where I can change that to default to NO. So I don't have to remember to set this EVERY time I create a new folder.

9. Bug: Cannot remove labels across multiple pages of results

   When selecting multiple pages of results, I cannot remove a label from all of them.

   I have three labels, A and B, C.

   I have 2000 emails, some tagged 'A', some 'B', some 'C', some a mix of all three.

   I want to make sure that any labels tagged as 'A' are not also tagged 'C'.

   I go to the page for 'A' and click 'Select all', the first 50 emails are selected.

   I click the labels button.

   A, B, and C are all marked as - in the tri-state checkbox.

   I click 'C' twice to unselect the checkbox and apply - 50 emails are now still marked as A, maybe still marked as B, and NOT marked as C

   This works as expected. If however after clicking 'Select all' I then click the button to select ALL matching emails labelled A, not just the first 50, the tri-state checkbox will not let me deselect - I click once to tick, then when I click again it goes back to -.

   This means that if I want to remove a label from multiple pages, I have to do it page by page.

   It would be good if the tri-state selector worked the same way across multiple pages as it does for single pages.

10. Search text shifts when clicking into the search field, causing incorrect caret placement

    After performing a search in Proton Mail, the search field displays a magnifying-glass icon before the search query.

    If I then want to slightly modify the query — for example, change one character in robert — I click at a specific position inside the text to place the caret there or start selecting a character with the mouse.

    However, as soon as the search field receives focus, the magnifying-glass icon disappears and the entire query shifts to the left.

    As a result, the text moves underneath the mouse pointer during the click, so the caret is placed in a different position than the one I clicked.

    For example:
    1. Search for robert and press Enter.
    2. The results appear and the search field shows a magnifying-glass icon before robert.
    3. Click just before the letter o, intending to place the caret there or select that character.
    4. The icon disappears and robert shifts to the left.
    5. The caret ends up somewhere else in the word instead of at the clicked position.

    This makes even very small edits to an existing search query unnecessarily frustrating, especially when trying to select a single character by clicking and dragging.

    Expected behavior:
    Focusing the search field should not change the horizontal position of the existing query. Clicking at a specific character position should always place the caret exactly where the user clicked.

    Possible solutions would be to keep the magnifying-glass icon visible while editing, reserve the same amount of space for it after focus, or otherwise prevent the text from shifting when the field changes state. Alternatively, if the icon is intended to indicate that the field represents an active search whose results are displayed below, it could be shown on the right side of the search field instead, so that its appearance or disappearance does not affect the position of the query text.

    This violates the basic expectation that text should remain stationary while the user is positioning the caret with the mouse.

11. Make whole day bookings available on the booking pages not only hours

    I'm writing to report a significant usability issue in the Mac Proton Mail desktop app (version 1.13.3) where the Contacts side panel is effectively invisible to most users.
    The Problem
    In the desktop app, there is no visible icon or button to access contacts. Apparently the only way to reveal the side panel is via a small, arrow at the bottom-right corner of the interface—essentially hidden in plain sight.
    Compare this to the web version (mail.proton.me), which displays a prominent right-side toolbar with clearly labeled icons for Contacts, Calendar, etc.—immediately discoverable.
    Why This Matters
    Usability Principle
    Violation
    Visibility
    Core functionality (contacts) should be immediately visible
    Affordance
    No visual cue indicates what the tiny arrow does

    What I Had To Do
    I spent considerable time searching for contacts functionality:
    • Checked View menu - at a minimum there should be an entry for “Contacts” in this menu.
    • Scanned all corners/interfaces
    • Tested keyboard shortcuts (Cmd-Shift-C didn’t work)
    • Compared behavior across platform versions
    Only then did I locate the hidden toggle—a frustrating experience for anything that should be routine.
    Suggested Improvements
    Priority Level: High (Core Feature Discovery)

    ✓ Add visible Contacts icon to right-hand toolbar (match web app layout)
    ✓ Label the sidebar toggle clearly if kept minimal
    ✓ Provide tooltip/hint on first launch explaining how to show panels
    ✓ Ensure feature parity between web and desktop app interfaces
    ADD Contacts entry to “View” menu.

    Impact Statement
    This affects daily workflow:
    • Composing emails → Cannot quickly select recipients
    • Managing events → Cannot reference contacts while scheduling
    • General productivity → Creates unnecessary friction vs. competitors
    For a product marketed as privacy-focused AND productivity-enhancing, hiding fundamental navigation controls undermines both value propositions.

15. AppImage packages for immutable Linux distributions + Flathub

    Hello!
    With immutable Linux distributions gaining popularity, perhaps there's a chance you could build an AppImage versions of your applications. That way you could provide support for all distributions alike.

    There are also community-made wrappers for your applications on FlatHub. I believe these are not supported by you, I would appreciate you taking a stance on them. They look legitimate, as signed by "Proton AG", but could in theory compromise security of users.

20. Settings panel auto-close on reload

    This is not really specific to Mail or Calendar, it happens on all Web apps. When I open the settings panel on the right, and then reload the page (Ctrl+R), the settings panel remains open at the right.

    I open the settings panel to access the settings page ("All settings" button), and when I'm done, I click the "Back to Inbox" button. THE PANEL IS STILL THERE.
