Scalable folder/label browser
I can't believe not anyone has mentioned this, so I might miss some special button in the UI. If not, please Proton people, make the folder/slash/label browser scalable. I can hardly decipher longer names of the labels and folders as is. Nothing fancy, but that would be an imense quality of life upgrade to me!
Thanks :)

minimize
option to minimize left sidebar; it's awful that ~15% of screen real estate is claimed by folder names, when icons would suffice

Seperate notification for mail versus calendar
The current behaviour is all email and calendar events cause a notification, or none of them do.
Desired separation between a calendar event notification and email arrival notification.
Particular case example: I do not want to be notified of the arrival of every email. I do want to be alerted about calendar events. At present, I must be notified of all emails or I will not be reminded about calendar events.
This problem would be solved with

Preview Excel files in Proton Mail Desktop
Excel attachments must be downloaded to be viewed in Proton Mail Desktop. It appears as though Word attachments can be previewed, so it would be very useful to have this functionality also.

Font & Font size consistency across platforms
When Arial 14 font text is pasted into an email message which already has Arial 14 font (system default) the pasted text is clearly different and usually larger, like they were different fonts entirely.
To rectify this one has to change the paragraph to an entirely different font such as Helvetica and change the font size, and then change it back to Arial 14 again.
Why does what should be the same font look different? Can this be resolved?

Require entering the password for hardware security key for Proton Mail or Authenticator
When login using hardware key, Proton Mail only asks for it to be inserted and then touch the key. Yahoo mail requires the password for the key to be entered before touching the key. That way, if someone gets the hardware key, they can't use it to login to your account without knowing the key password

Allow configuring an optional "activity" time window for Proton Calendar
It would be interesting to have a configuration option which statically excludes a given single (night)time window (or alternatively provide it the other way around as an activity time window) from being displayed in the calendar UI.
Most people don't have e.g. any appointments between 11 pm and 6 am, yet it is taking up valuable screen estate.
Uncluttering the UI by just showing the relevant part of the day and save people from scrolling over always empty rows in the calendar would be a very useful feature.

Allow text formatting in emails on the phone app
There are no options for formatting text in emails I'm writing in the phone app version of Proton Mail. This is crazy. How is this not a thing? My top asks are: bold, italic, underline, different font colors and highlights, bullets and numbering.

I use a widget and I have an exception set for battery optimization, but it takes longer than 2-3 seconds to display the calendar.

Increase filter / rule limit to 200
Change filter / rule limit from 100 to 200. Will help organize inboxes, apply labels, move messages to folders, etc. Using rules for multiple scenarios eventually becomes impractical to manage.

Feature request – Font size in calendar widget
Hello,
I would like to suggest a small but very useful feature: the option to increase the font size in the Proton Calendar widget (iOS version). Currently, the text is quite small, which can be difficult to read for users with weaker eyesight or on smaller screens. If possible, adding a font size setting directly in the widget would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I was very happy to see that the app now supports the Slovak language. Thank you for including smaller languages – it really means a lot.
Thanks again for your great work and this excellent app.

Layout option: Email contents below Inbox list
I'm migrating from gmail where I use "Settings -> Reading pane -> Below inbox". I depend on this for my workflow/layout (portrait aspect-ratio email window).

automatically sending email by Imap to protonmail from other internet/email providers than gmail
I'd like to have the possibility to have automatically send the email to Protonmail which is now handled through my internet/emailprovider which is not Gmail. I got a lot of mail and I donot want to import this mail manually on a single occasion as Proton offers by Easy-Switch. Besides that I stopped using Gmail as being a part of a Big Tech firm like Google.

number of calendars in plans
Hi, I've subscribed to Unlimited Plan but intend to downgrade to Plus.
I'm querying the number of calendars...the default is "My calendar" and I've created 2 others to a total of 3 calendars. However, under Settings>Other Calendars there's also an 'inbult' calendar "Holidays in Australia". Does this count towards the overall limit allowed by each plan especially Mail Plus?
TIA

Enhance Thread Navigation with Chevron and Navigation Arrows
In Proton Mail, when a long email thread accumulates, each reply-all can include all prior messages, requiring extensive scrolling. To simplify this, it would be incredibly helpful to introduce chevron-style indicators to collapse or expand email threads. Additionally, having up and down arrows to move between emails would mean we don’t have to scroll like crazy when someone replies-all. These additions would make handling large conversations far more efficient and user-friendly, similar to the Apple Mail app.

Attached Photo's - files size shrinking option before sending
With my old Blackberry email client on android- which I still use - I can upload photo's and then it will give to option to shrink the file size to medium or small in order to prevent large photos to be send. This prevents going over the 25Mb file limit per e-mail and also doesn't make your storage capacity fill up unnecessarily quick.
I really miss this in many e-mail clients. Would save so much work

Ability to Easily Copy or Export Entire Conversation Threads
Hello Proton Team and community,
I’d like to request an improved way to copy or export the full conversation history of an email thread.
Current Issue
Even though Proton Mail displays all related emails in a single conversation column, it’s currently not possible to copy the entire conversation at once. Each message has to be opened and copied manually, or users have to inspect and extract the content through HTML/JS workarounds, which is far from ideal.
Why This Is Problematic
This limitation becomes a real obstacle in several situations, for example:
When trying to provide the full context of an email exchange to a Large Language Model (LLM) for summarization or analysis
When archiving a conversation outside Proton Mail
When sharing a full thread with another person who wasn't originally included
Additional Confusion With Replies
Another related issue:
In the message view, replied emails sometimes include multiple layers of older messages directly in the body, while the conversation view also shows these messages separately.
This can make the thread hard to read or understand, especially in long chains where messages appear duplicated or nested.
Suggested Improvements
A simple “Copy entire conversation” button
Or an “Export conversation” option (TXT, PDF, or EML bundle)
More consistent handling of quoted messages vs. conversation view
This quality-of-life feature would save users a lot of time and reduce confusion when working with long chains of replies.

schedule an automatic response to our incoming emails when we are away (very useful for a professional email address))
I use one of my Proton addresses as my work email. I had this feature on my old address when I went on vacation. This helps remind my clients and suppliers that I can't respond within the usual timeframe.

Highlight last read email in folder view
Some other email clients (e.g. outlook) highlight the last read email in the email folder (inbox, etc.) by changing slightly the background shade or colour to make it stand out.
This is extremely useful when working through emails, clearing out etc. When you enter an email then leave again it shows you where you were in the list. In the case where you view an email and delete it from within the email and so return to the list the focus should go to the next (oldest) email.
This is also useful in search where you are looking for specific contents of an email from a list of matches for the search term - if you go into one email and it's not what you were looking for then it's hard to remember where you had got to in the list unless the last read email is highlighted.
I'm sure this would be very simple to implement.
