How can we improve Proton VPN?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  2. Use icon tray to display fundamentals datas about the connection

    Use icone tray to display fundamentals datas about the connection e.g:
    A motif under the connection state (red/green) circle to indicate if the KillSwith is On.
    And if i move the mouse over the icone, Proton display a pop up small window that list some pertinents parameters use by the connection (P2P, Country, Speed, Tor...) because display "ProtonVPN Tray"... I already know it!

  3. PotonVPN on ARM Wnndows ARM beta

    Windows on ARM processor is already available as a beta, so I ask you to develop an ARM64 version of your software, which simply requires a new compilation. That's why I'm asking you to make sure there are more Windows tablets to buy. I don't want you to miss the trend. That's exactly how I'm rooting for it in the Linux Debian area.

  6. Use Hardware / Security Key as 2FA

    Allow Hardware Security Keys (FIDO2 like YubiKey) as a backup 2FA for ProtonVPN (like all the other Proton Services). Currently Proton VPN only supports TOTP authenticators for 2FA which is inconvenient especially when all the other Proton services work fine with security keys.

  9. Show dock / taskbar tooltip in Ubuntu

    Not all, but lots of programs have a tooltip on mouseover on the dock / taskbar.
    For ProtonVPN I had the wish of being informed on mouseover: "Connected to AB-CD#99".
    (Similar for ProtonMail "Connected: myemailaddress@proton.me")

  13. Keyring program support on Linux

    On Linux, the dbus-system allows the use of other keyring-programs, e.g. KeePassXC.

    Proton-VPN only accepts Gnome-Keyring or KWallet.

    As Proton-Mail Bridge already works fine with KeePassXC, it should be possible for ProtonVPN to use the same tool.

    🏓For personal information security reasons, I need you to add the feature to change the Email previously registered to purchase VPN to a new Email Account, this helps users have more options to hide the Email Account name origin + With the feature of setting a password for VPN, it helps hide the name of the VPN Account being used from the prying eyes of unwanted people.

  16. Disposable browser tabs

    There is a broswer extension called SquareX, that allows us to have "Disposable" broswer tabs. This basically means that the browser tab itself runs in the cloud, which is more or less the perfect secure and private way to do anything in the Internet.
    But as a free service it has pretty big limitations, most importantly related to the quality.
    I think if Proton can offer a similar service with thier paid VPN plans, but with offering at least stable 1080p 60fps quality, that could elevate the entire service to another level compared to the competition.

  18. AI Routing & Country Group Servers based on Load, Real Time Packet Source Stream Encryption

    During computer boot up, the VPN server selected at startup, fails to respond and connect, this happens on all my family computers on our local private network. The solution is to manually select a different country or server within the VPN System. It would be nice if AI could poll the servers, and select a different server from the users group of servers for that country, if the selected server fails to connect properly using the various protocols.   19. Multi server hop

    Currently using a service called portmaster that has a very interesting feature that mimicks TOR browser server hopping. Instead of offering a basic VPN service it jumps between multiple servers. Their service is called SPN. I think that is a very great idea and maybe proton VPN could implement something similiar, maybe as an advanced setting for extra privacy.

  20. Reconnect to next best server

    Occasionally I have a slow connection to the "optimal" server or the quality of the connection changes overtime. I would love a single click button to connect to the next best server and not automatically reconnect to the one I was just connected to like it does when I manually cycle it.
