1. Overcome web site blocking via Google ReCaptcha to identify and block Proton VPN

   Most sites are now embedding the Google ReCaptcha technology that identifies and blocks silently all Proton VPN servers! This forces the VPN user to add subscription to residential servers (over Proton VPN) to overcome the ReCaptcha blocking. Or to drop completely the vpn!

2. VPN to home network

   Currently I use Wiregauard to setup an VPN to my private network so I can access local devices when I'm on the road, all the internet traffic is also going through the VPN and outside through my router.

   I prefer having:
   1. VPN to my loval network only for my local network
   2. all the internet traffice difrectly to Proton VPN

   Can the Peroton VPN app support option 1 + 2

5. Configure quick connect Proton VPN in Samsung routines

   I'd like to turn on the VPN automatically when I'm outside my home wifi and turn it off when I'm home again, this should work via routines but it only lets me add a VPN if it's configured in settings and not through an app. Is there an option to get Proton VPN configured natively in the VPN settings?

6. Peer-to-Peer Mesh Networking with NAT Traversal

   Enables direct peer-to-peer VPN networking, like Tailscale or ZeroTier. This would allow devices on my Proton VPN account to see and connect to each other using private IPs, as if on the same LAN.

   This kind of functionality would be very helpful for cloud gaming, remote development, and device syncing, without needing a third-party solution.

   Specifically, I’m asking for:

   Private IPs for each device on the VPN

   Peer-to-peer connectivity with NAT traversal

   Optional routing via Proton servers when needed

   Thank you for all your amazing work — this feature would make Proton VPN even more powerful.

8. Improved feature list for Apple TV

   Apple TV works OK but is bare on features compared to the Android TV app. Would like to see a more complete feature list for the Apple TV, such as split tunnelling, choosing with server within a country, which Protocol etc.

9. Add DoH and DNS-over-QUIC Support for Custom DNS on iOS

   I'm excited to see that ProtonVPN iOS now supports custom DNS functionality.
   However, I noticed that it currently only supports plaintext UDP DNS queries.
   As a privacy-conscious user who chose Proton specifically for its commitment to privacy, I would like to request support for encrypted DNS protocols, specifically DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) and DNS-over-QUIC.

   Privacy Concerns with Plaintext UDP DNS:
   Even when using a VPN, plaintext UDP DNS poses several privacy risks:
   1. DNS Query Visibility: While the VPN encrypts the connection between my device and the VPN server, DNS queries from the VPN server to the DNS resolver remain unencrypted and can be monitored by the VPN server's ISP, network intermediaries between the VPN server and DNS resolver, and the DNS resolver itself if not trustworthy.

   
   2. DNS Hijacking and Manipulation: Plaintext DNS is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks where malicious actors can intercept and modify DNS responses, potentially redirecting users to malicious websites.

   3. Metadata Leakage: Even with VPN protection, plaintext DNS queries reveal browsing patterns and website visits to anyone monitoring the DNS traffic, undermining the privacy protection that VPN users expect.

   
   4. ISP DNS Cache Poisoning: Unencrypted DNS queries are susceptible to cache poisoning attacks, where false DNS records can be injected into DNS caches.

   Why This Matters for Proton:

   As a company that positions itself as "Privacy by Default," supporting only plaintext DNS seems inconsistent with Proton's core values.
   Your users choose ProtonVPN specifically because they trust you to provide the highest level of privacy protection.
   Encrypted DNS protocols like DoH and DNS-over-QUIC would ensure end-to-end encryption of DNS queries, prevent DNS-based tracking and profiling, protect against DNS manipulation and censorship, and align with Proton's mission of making privacy accessible to everyone.

   Feature Request:
   Please consider adding support for DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) - RFC 8484 and DNS-over-QUIC (DoQ) - RFC 9250.

   This would allow users to configure custom encrypted DNS resolvers, ensuring that their DNS queries remain private even beyond the VPN tunnel.

12. Import/Export configuration

    As time goes by and new profiles, split tunnelings... are being added, if I have to change my mobile/desktop/laptop or I buy a new device, I will have to check everything in order to replicate the configuration in the device, and apply the configuration manually. Or even worse: if one of the devices dies, I will lose the configuration.
    Hence, it would be good to have the option to export & import configuration files.

13. Manual Wireguard Peer Configuration

    At the moment, have to use a provided secret key for Wireguard. This poses a security issue if you are wanting to use Proton VPN with an existing Wireguard interface.

    I have some self-hosted apps running on a VPN protected by Wireguard. If I want to be able to connect to ProtonVPN and my self-hosted apps using the same Wireguard interface, I'd need to use a private key generated by Proton to access both on the same interface. This is both a hassle as I'd have to update all my configs for this key, and also a security risk as that key could be used to pose as one of my devices to connect to my self-hosted services.

    If we could instead provide our own public key when configuring our devices, rather than using the provided private key, that would avoid the security issue.

    If we could also customize the peer IP address (though I understand that may be less feasible) that would avoid the issue of having to change all of my configurations.

14. Add the ability to set and use shortcuts for the Proton VPN browser extension

    Browser extensions support (at least on Firefox) to set custom keyboard shortcuts for certain actions.

    It would be great if Proton VPN browser extension had shortcuts for actions such as adding the current website to the split tunneling list.

15. Linux app for arm64 GUI and CLI

    Hello, like many users, I use a low-power ARM64 machine for P2P downloads via Torrent. The problem is that there isn't a Linux ARM64 application yet, which prevents me from setting up the Port Forwarding as explained in the guides, since I have to use it through WireGuard instead of the official app.Is this release planned?     I’d like to propose adding native support for the Invisible Internet Project (I2P) to enhance Proton VPN’s offerings.

    I2P is a decentralized, anonymizing network that enables secure, private communication, complementing Proton’s existing Tor support. Integrating I2P could:

    Appeal to privacy-focused users who use I2P for secure browsing, messaging, or file sharing.
    Position Proton VPN as a leader in supporting multiple anonymity networks.
    Simplify setup for users, as manual I2P configuration with VPNs can be complex.

17. Browser extensions remember recent servers / cities

    It would be nice if the browser extensions remembered a few of your most recently used servers / cities and made those available as buttons that are shown when you click to open the extension. For example, Nord VPN's app has this feature directly below the blue "quick connect" button.

18. iOS Dynamic Island VPN Indicator

    On the iPhone Dynamic Island at the top of the screen, it would be useful for proton vpn to utilize this space that Apple allows devs to use for indicators such as showing that the vpn status if connected or not.

    Currently you have to swipe down to see if the vpn is active or if you go into the app to check.

    Other apps including other vpns use this Dynamic Island as an indicator for a quick glance/stuatus.

20. Kill Switch option in Profiles

    Hi ProtonVPN team,

    I’d love to see an option added to the profile creation process that lets users set up Kill Switch preferences right from the start. Specifically, it would be great to choose whether the Kill Switch is enabled or disabled for that profile, and also select between the standard and advanced modes.

    This would give users more control over how each profile behaves based on their needs. For example, someone might want a profile with the advanced Kill Switch enabled for maximum protection, and another with it off for more flexibility.
