Low Profile VPN Servers/IPs
Almost all Proton IPs are polluted with bad reputation due to various malicious acts made through its VPN. This is really really annoying for good users.
I think a large percentage of malicious acts made on Proton VPN servers are done via new accounts that are pretty quickly banned by Proton and by victims- but it still leaves a bad trace on the history of that ip.
I propose a solution that could at least reduce ip pollution for quite a few users- what if we had few servers (or ips) that you only get access to after a year…

PC Performance
I would appreciate if the Windows VPN Client could get a "minimalist" or "performance" mode with reduced footprint on system resources. Even on a modern high end PC and especially when using other Proton apps at the same time, multitasking and working, it adds up.
Maybe we could get a setting for a minimal UI without all the fancy elements and animations? Even closed to the sys tray and being in the background, the VPN uses over 400MB RAM + dedicated GPU VRAM while constantly drawing GPU utilization causing unnecessary interrupts. It's undesireable when using the VPN while doing other…4 votes -

[TV App] - Kill Switch
Can we please have a kill switch added to the TV applications, this is asked for over and over I understand it may not be the most pressing item to add but it really is needed, many of the other apps I've tried do have this implemented and one of the points of using a VPN is to mask over our real IP, sadly I've had the TV app disconnect numourus times leading to my real IP being exposed, this happened just yesterday twice and I couldn't understand or find out the issue so a kill switch would ultimately solve…

Perpetual NetShield Statistics
I think being able to see the total amount of ads blocked and data saved perpetually would be pretty cool. I'm especially referring to the android VPN app as the statistics reset every time the VPN is turned off or changed.

Align Proton VPN versions on Google Play and F-Droid
Currently, Google Play offers the user version 5.11.94.0 (2025-06-06) for installation. At the same time, F-Droid offers version 5.11.39.1 (2025-06-11). I propose to align the versions available in these app stores.

Launch Linux GUI app on boot
I saw a completed post asking the Linux app on boot, but I guess it is not the GUI version, or perhaps not the one for Fedora.
For me on Fedora with the GUI version I have to manually launch Proton VPN every time.
By manually launching Proton VPN:
1 - The system remains unprotected for a certain time;
2 - Creates a needless ritual for every session;
3 - Nullifies the purpose of the kill switch.~/.config/autostart/ , Startup applications or GNOME extensions does not work because the GUI fails to connect during login. Only the kill switch starts…

Add a feature to the Android version of Proton VPN that allows you to choose which apps can access the internet.
Add a feature to the Android version of Proton VPN that allows you to choose which apps can access the internet. This is different from split tunneling; it would give you the ability to block full internet access for apps that don't need it.
There are already apps that do this, but they use a VPN themselves and therefore cannot be used with Proton VPN.11 votes -
Create a Qt-based Linux app, or make the GNOME app look better on KDE
The GNOME-based app doesn't look very good on KDE Plasma. Given how popular Plasma is, it's fair to expect some integration.

I2P
I’d like to propose adding native support for the Invisible Internet Project (I2P) to enhance Proton VPN’s offerings.
I2P is a decentralized, anonymizing network that enables secure, private communication, complementing Proton’s existing Tor support. Integrating I2P could:
Appeal to privacy-focused users who use I2P for secure browsing, messaging, or file sharing.
Position Proton VPN as a leader in supporting multiple anonymity networks.
Simplify setup for users, as manual I2P configuration with VPNs can be complex.
Suggested features could include dedicated I2P servers, one-click connectivity (similar to your Tor integration), or optimized settings for I2P traffic (e.g., port forwarding or split…20 votes -
Add Wireguard PSKs
It'd be nice upon config generator if a PSK was generated for stronger cryptography when using Wireguard.

Auto shutdown when phone put in airplane mode
I would love for the VPN to automatically stop trying to connect when I place my phone in airplane mode and also have it auto connect when I take my phone out of airplane mode.
While in airplane mode (with no WiFi services, such as on a flight) the application keeps attempting to connect to a server. This significantly drains my battery, unless I remember to manually disconnect it after toggling airplane mode on.

Automatic MTU negotation
For protonvpn with wireguard, I need to manually adjust the MTU down due to using a 5g hotspot wifi solution. It would be really nice if the app could automatically negotiate the optimal MTU when setting up, I imagine by just pinging the VPN bastion server with different packet sizes (once authenticated) and adjusting from there.
Otherwise it would be nice if the app would at least allow you to override the MTU for different underlying networks.

Add profiles to Android TV
Adding the Profiles option to Android TV would make it easier to access apps that don't work with all servers by adding those that work individually.

Split tunneling with hostnames
In the current tech landscape, the same website can be served through thousands of distinct IPs, changing over time depending on specific criteria or even between deployments. It is humanly exhausting, and frankly unfeasible, to require that we have knowledge of IPs or IP ranges to exclude a specific site from VPN usage.
I firmly believe that it is possible to implement the ability to provide access through hostnames (to enable any level of subdomain as well) without the need for a Herculean effort, even if it is necessary to require the user to use a specific DNS service.

VPN exclusion/exlude template for the surveillance/14 eyes/5 eyes countries
On Android, I can exclude selected countries to be used in a Quick connect mode (fastest server). I always wanted to exclude surveillance countries listed at https://protonvpn.com/blog/5-eyes-global-surveillance#14-eyes (more than 22 countries).
Why not to simplify the task of adding 22+ countries by creating a template "Surveillance countries" which user can tap and confirm the list of countries to be excluded (not connected to)?
