How can we improve Proton Drive?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  1. Allow friends (non Proton users) to upload files to MY drive

    Someone wants to share a large file with me in a secure way, but they do not have a Proton Drive account. I want to be able to share a WRITEABLE folder with them so they can deposit files.

  2. Clear Activity Button

    It would be nice to have a clear button on the windows app Activity screen. Currently if you want the activity list cleaned you have to exit the app and restart it which takes a while to setup/sync.

  3. Implement differential Sync

    Uploading an entire file for a small change makes no sense and wastes bandwidth for no reason. Having a Differential Sync will improve the quality of Proton Drive and make it a serious competitor on the market.

    It should be possible to sort the files in a folder (sequence, how they have been added) and/or to manually arrange them.

  7. Synology NAS Cloud Sync

    I miss the capability to connect my ProtonDrive with my Synology NAS by CloudSync or Hyper Backup. This would be one of the last disadvantages compared to conventional cloud providers

  8. Proton Drive Polish language support

    Can you please add Polish language support to Proton Drive on Android and iOS ?

    That will significantly help me convince some many more especially older people to use Proton Drive.

  10. Proton Drive Android App - preview Open Document files in app or online

    The ability to preview files created with Open Document format in the Proton Drive App on Android or web based app.

    Open Document formats usually end in .odt (Documents), .ods (Spreadsheets), .odp (Presentations). These documents can be created by LibreOffice, Microsoft Office, and other open source Office alternatives.

    Part of the target market for Proton products includes people who actively avoid products like Microsoft Office or Google Docs (which produces Microsoft office formats) in favor of Open Source alternatives like LibreOffice which produce an open source standard format.

  12. chance and/or move existing sync folder on local PC

    Change and/or move path of an existing Proton Sync Folder on a local PC, for example C:\User to D:\, due to shortage of disk space

  13. Up- and Downloading Files - Functionalities: Resume Up-/Download, Integration of checksum

    I have already noticed several times that the upload and download was not complete or was cancelled in between. The user is not always sufficiently informed about this situation. The upload and download must therefore be carried out several times and the user is still unsure whether the data is complete.

    The upload and download process should be expanded with a function,
    - that detects cancelled uploads and downloads and resumes them continuously as soon as it is possible again. Currently, the upload or download has to be restarted. The use of Proton Drive is not convenient, especially for Internet…

  14. force synchronization

    Just like how you made it for Proton Pass. It would be really helpful if Proton Drive (Windows & Mobile) had the "Force Synchronization" option. Sometimes I am waiting for a bit longer than desired for files to synch between mobile and my computer.

    It would be smart to have a search or filter feature. This way we could filter in by the year.

    Google drivers features need to be implemented into Proton.

  16. Set space release automatically after up loading a file

    It would be interesting to set space release automatically after up loading a file.
    Currently, you have to right-click with the mouse and then click on "free space".
    It would be interesting to be able to set an automatic space release.

  17. Choose how many files I want to up-load or download

    I'd like to choose how many files I want to up-load or download.

    For example, if I have 10 files to upload or download, I'd like to up-load one at a time.
    For example, when uploading or downloading videos to or from the cloud.
    I can imagine a queuing system.

  18. IPv6 Adoption

    Allow access to Proton services, e.g. https://drive.proton.me from IPv6-only hosts. Currently, the access is not possible from my IPv6-only client (IPv4 address required).

  19. Connect to third-party clouds to encrypt it end-to-end

    It's a crazy idea but could it work?
    Basically my idea is this: Add in Proton Drive the ability to connect/link your app to other clouds such as Google Drive or OneDrive. (Why?) To view your files from the comfort of the app. AND! Upload files from proton drive to those clouds, and not only that, that Proton Drive encrypts them, so that when you see the data you uploaded from the third party cloud, it's just encrypted gibberish, that way those corporations couldn't scan your data!     I'm using proton family subscription and self hosted next cloud instance.
