Proton Docs / collaboration suite
(folders and docs similar to GoogleDocs)
Proton mail needs some collaborative word processor and spreadsheet in a drive where people can securely work on it but only the person who owns the files can keep them and no one can download them or copy them.
Proton now has Docs:
https://proton.me/drive/docs
And Sheets:
https://proton.me/drive/sheets

I need a file that I can share with coworkers and they need to be able to access and modify the files in this folder from their own proton account. The current link system is a hassle. A link should only be shared once so the file can be mapped on their proton drive account and be shown as a shared folder. Permissions for the people I share the file with would be great too, like see only, see and modify etc..

I'm another Skiff user sadly looking around for something to replace Skiff Pages.

Skiff just sold their business and will be shutting down their pages service. Proton really should add a function for long form notes and writing. I am seriously going to miss Skiff's encrypted pages. I think it would be a bog hit for Proton and contribute to people not needing to even have both a Google account (for Docs) and and Proton account (for everything else)

To disconnect from Google completely, a competent privacy oriented office suite is required. Don't rebuild the wheel, partner with Onlyoffice please. PLEASE.

I want to completely get off Google. However, the document system that they have withing their Google Drive is amazing! If you can make something like that, I'd pay for it!

Proton Documents: for documents, spreadsheets, and slide presentations. Create something like Google has where people can collaborate online. Perhaps use LibreOffice as a base, or team up with them?

This is pretty much the only reason I can't get rid of Dropbox. If I could share files/folders with others in my organization at least so that the files/folders appear in their Proton Drive, I could ditch Dropbox.

Proton's website FAQ say :
Does Proton Drive include document editing (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)?
Proton Drive is currently in beta. Document editing is on our road map for future development. If you'd like to receive notifications about future product releases, contact our sales team.

Same as others.
There is a need to have an editor embedded i the web client.
Even if it doesn't have collaboration at first.
Only office or Colabora integration would be great.

The main reason why I am not using Proton Drive much is that I can't edit documents and spreadsheets like with Google Drive. I would be very happy to switch from Google Drive to Proton Drive once an alternative for Google Docs and Google Sheets is provided by Proton.

A real competitor to Google Docs and MS Office would be nice.
A simple notes solution is not sustainable. There are hundreds of applications that are infinitely better than a simple notepad. Proton should try collaborative (and personal) documents along the lines of what is possible with the aforementioned competitors.

We have Microsoft office that contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a few other applications. Why not have a more privacy focussed version from Proton. I know libre office exists, I do respect and admire its services but it doesn't feel like a professional product which proton could offer. Especially, with Microsoft adding in AI which is potentially learning from our data it seems fitting at this time.

Make Skiff Pages replacement where I can create documents and collaborate real-time with colleagues or family members.
Would also love this for spreadsheets.
That would be a real Google Docs and Sheets replacement.

You might be able to use some existing browser-based office suite like OnlyOffice or Collabora Office.

One of the difficulties in converting from Google/Microsoft to Proton is the lack of an integrated suite of document, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Proton Press (Word/Docs equivalent), Proton Present (Powerpoint/Slides), and Proton Hyper (Excel/Sheets) would be very useful. I am a software engineer and would love to help.

I agree that this would be great, BUT Proton Docs (IMHO) would be a new product and I worry that Proton have already spread their resources very thin with the existing products. Calendar and Drive are still missing core features and (at least on iOS) updates are coming too slowly from my perspective as a long time paying customer.
Personally I do not think that Proton should introduce any additional products until the existing suite has been polished further. I have not been able to move from Tresorit to Drive yet and after migrating my calendars to Proton, I'm quite close to migrating them away again due to missing basic features.
So Proton Docs - yes, would be great, but more investment and focus needed on existing products first.

While I understand why Drive doesn't support live edit options due to security. Having an online excel that you can either edit via Drive or a standalone app would be extremely beneficial. Even if it's limited to personal use or allowing only other invited proton users.

If your friend also has proton drive and he wants to share a huge amount of data, would be easier to make share a copy on your existing proton drive

From 2016 to 2024. Crickets from Proton. I have been making to move from the G silo but not having even a simple document service after 8 years of people begging is pretty poor coming up on just shy of 18000 votes.
