Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

I love Proton and and use a lot of their services as a good privacy alternative Microsoft, Google, etc. As a lot of other Proton users, I use linux. Therefore, we need an official client to proton drive on linux.

I recently migrated to Linux for multiple reasons, and the Proton services could allow me to leave Microsoft and Google services... if I could replace Onedrive with Proton Drive.

Just adding my 2 cents. I've been a Proton customer for years. I made the move to linux about a year ago. Having a linux client for Proton Drive is very important to me.

The lack of Proton Drive client for Linux a complete shame, in particular after so many years... What is the point of Proton products if it has to run on Windows or Mac OSX???
I really do not understand how it is possible that Proton does not give the top priority to that critically missing product rather than promoting other less needed features every weeks... And frustration from its Linux users is growing...

I have been with Proton going on my 3rd year, and from day 1 I have been looking for the sync app for Linux, still nothing?? It has been long enough, please at least get us a beta. i don't care if it crashes some times or is slow, we need something!

I'm starting to feel pretty stupid having believed that a native linux client was in the offing when I signed up. Alas, I will not be renewing my Proton account if this is not sorted before my renewal date. It is unbelievable that this core issue has not been more of a priority before "vanity" products like AI and Albums.

This is blocking my switch to Linux to the point where I think I might just have to migrate to another cloud service provider.

Linux is probably the particular OS privacy-oriented users go for, although being fewer users overall than other OSs.

Being forced to use Windows because there is no Linux Client for Proton Drive is crazy.
I tried Linux Mint and Linux Zorin and they work really well and are easy to use coming from Windows.
I think a lot of people would be glad to switch to Linux if they had a Proton Drive client for this OS

Just piling on here. Linux support and I will buy more space from you. Otherwise, meh.

We are a fully linux house hold. I have to use a file mover to a windows VM in order to sync all of our data. A linux client would be a life saver here.

This is a joke to both block open source solutions to this problem and not provide native client.

Actually I pay drive for nothing because Linux isn't supported...

I'm a proton fan and pay for the visionnary plan for years. I'm using MacOS and move recently to Zorin Pro (linux) on my former work laptop. I can't believe there is no proton drive for Linux nor any other ways (rclone, webdav, api) to get this CRITICAL capability.

Just moved all my stuff to Proton, as I'm moving away from MacOS and Windows, and can't believe that there isn't a Linux app for Proton Drive sync.
How?? Surely most people who are moving to Proton, are like me and are trying to get away from major US tech providers, but Proton are insisting I at least use their OS's if I want to sync my cloud files.

Please prioritise this feature to give some appeal to proton drive.
Considering Linux is growing fast, and every single competitor offers a solution, it's hard to understand why this still doesn't work.

User below hits the nail on its head. It is unspeakable that your "privacy by default" app only works on SpywareOS.
If there is no movement in the coming 2 - 3 months I'm ending my subscription. I'm paying more then enough for years now, it's ridiculous that I cannot use all features.

Proton, this is the most voted Feedback.
We need it.It would be perfect timing with these Windows 11 shinanigans.
Please do this for your Userbase.

Please do this.
Or your Company will look like a bad joke.
Please do this

I've recently switched from using exclusively Windows to exclusively Linux. As part of that transition, I've been switching my accounts to Proton services. It came as a shock to learn that there is no Linux app for Proton Drive. Proton doesn't even provide an API for clients such as rclone to use.
Now, there IS a Proton Drive integration available through rclone, but it's unstable due to the undocumented Proton Drive API changing. Please, please, PLEASE provide a desktop app, or at the very least, a stable API.
Maybe you could get one of your devs to contribute Proton Drive support to rclone as a stopgap solution until the release of the official desktop app on Linux. Give us something, anything. Even if it's just the backend, the community handle the UX and GUI! Please, we're good for it!
Linux users don't need much. We're asking for the bare minimum.

Please disregard. I no longer need this. A Proton Drive Linux app was the only thing holding me back from going to Linux from macOS. I've waited 4 years to use my 6 TB of Proton Drive space in Linux and it's just clearly not happening. I'll scale back all of my Proton Visionary subscription to just email and calendars (2 things Apple doesn't do E2EE on) and let my subscription expire this year. Proton is clearly not listening to their user base and it's time to move on.
