It has been many years of waiting. But as soon as possible.
If it is not done promptly, I will have to cancel part of my services with Proton, because the cost is high without having the same features as other users at the same cost.

It’s been so long that we’ve been waiting for this, and yet despite 3 years and 3600 votes, it still hasn’t happened. Sometimes, or rather, all the time, I feel like companies don’t want Linux. By the way, did you know that Voicemod has been doing the same to us for a while now...?

I recently became a paying Proton customer mainly for privacy reasons - I've just migrated from Gmail & OneDrive. Next on my privacy list is moving fully to Linux, because privacy just isn't possible on Windows any more.
My 2x PC's are already runnning Fedora & Mint. That just leaves my laptop which will be done soon. The web products are OK, but it would be far better to have a native client.

ATM I need to use Rclone to sync my protondrive but this is really temporary as I don't want to sync my files in CLI everytime.

Just makes the life of the user that supports privacy easier ! We share the same philosophy as Proton.

Absolutely needed. I am switching to Proton, ditching Microsoft and Google completely, I need a way to easily backup Linux and to automatically backup using TrueNAS cloud backups.

How is it possible for a company whose business model is based on privacy and data security to make such a stupid show of contempt for the community that cares most about privacy? It is a real shot in the foot for the future of this company. Linux users are undoubtedly the most concerned about privacy and the most enthusiastic defenders of the goodness of those principles. What makes a company that wants to be truly competitive disregard such an important resource? I don't understand it.

I can only second what everyone here says. If there were a Linux client for Proton Drive, I would completely switch to the Proton ecosystem. I can't grasp why a privacy and open-source-minded company doesn't support Linux for all their products.

Hi there :) I really very much need a Linux client. Your ecosystem is excellent, but Linux support is an absolute must, and I really don't want to be paying extra money to a third party simply to get my files syncing on Linux. This is somewhat ridiculous. It is ceretainly worth considering that Linux users, as users of F/OSS, are often some of the most vocal proponents of privacy-supporting software and companies. So despite the apparently-small userbase, you are missing out on an important and noisy market sector! Additionally, if you don't provide Linux support in your sync client, then your users will be forced to not use Linux in their daily lives, and therefore your stats will rarely show you that they would be, in fact, Linux users, if they had the opportunity. A very literal selection bias!

In this current global political and big-tech-behemoth climate, there are millions of regular folk stepping onto the path to de-Google and de-corporate themselves. People are moving away from google-etc, and looking for privacy-centric solutions, open source solutions, decentralised, etc etc. You know this already. Well a lot of people are checking out Linux these days, and also a lot of die-hard gamers are transitioning to SteamOS, and some of these people will be Proton users too (haha actually SteamOS uses the other Proton for gaming compatility 😂). And, imagine if you could support the ChromeBook users who are branching out and de-Googling themselves! Wouldn't that be something.

To stage a real coup, it is VITAL that you support Linux. And we NEED this coup to dethrone the giant behemoth technocratic corporations who are currently basically controlling the world. This is no hyperbole.

Hello. I have a paid account with Proton since a few days and am intending to move away from Dropbox. My primary computer is running Linux. I used Dropbox to back up files but also to share folders with family and friends. I cannot understand why Proton is not offering a true bi-directional sync solution for Linux. Proton says that it is committed to freedom , opensource and security. These values are also one the main reasons why people use Linux so it seems to me self-evident that Proton should support the Linux community.

I use Linux on my laptop and server. A client, CLI or GUI, would be of great benefit so I can properly utilize the cloud storage that comes with my plan.
