Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

Years are passing. And the idea of a Linux client for Drive isn't at least tagged. Not even "studying". It looks like it's a lost cause.
3K votes and 2 years and a half later : Pass, Docs, and Wallet are born. Dark Web Monitoring has come. Simple Login and Standard Notes have been acquired, Mail and Pass have even got their own Linux clients. And Drive's one hasn't gained any interest from devs. I read some months ago they did not have Linux devs enough, but they could at least tell us this wish is fair and Will maybe Come in a while...but no. Not a single word.
No. I think it's a lost cause.

Please make this the next priority; I appreciate the efforts you have made so far to make Proton a privacy and security focused email, calendaring, and cloud storage service, but integrating Proton Drive with the Linux desktop would finally allow me to fully ditch Google, MS, and Dropbox. People are indeed willing to pay for privacy and security.

Having a Linux should be a must. You support mail, pass, and vpn, Drive should be the next one with Linux support.

I'm leaving behind closed OS like Windows and MacOS. Linux is my working system and syncing files is a must for any cloud drive.

I would love to have a linux client or working integration with rsync at the minimum. Would make my life a lot easier.

Not support for Linux? I have been migrating to proton, but this is making me unable to proceed with migration, and thus not upgrade to a paid plan. Just sayin..Otherwise Very happy with protons other clients for linux.

If you could get this set up with rsync that would be amazing. I could code the rest in bash myself but it would be nice to have a .deb installation file

It's really needed. Please think of the Linux community.

I really want a Linux client for Proton Drive! This is what i currently want the most from the Proton suite. And please prioritize making a client that works for not just Debian/Ubuntu based distros but also Arch and Fedora/RHEL distros. It would cover many Linux users.
Written on EndeavourOS which is Arch based :)

This should also be made available for Fedora/RHEL based distros as well as Arch based distros as those would cover a lot of people. Currently using an Arch based distro called EndeavourOS :)

This is the main thing keeping me from switching over. I'm really surprised they don't have a Linux client since there is a huge overlap between Linux users and people who care about privacy and are willing to pay for a secure option. Please add this!

Very close to switching from Google suite to Proton - I heavily use mail, drive, calendar across Android, Linux, Mac and iOS. So far so good with the Proton free plan, but the lack of a Linux client for Proton Drive is a big impediment for me. I think I'll wait until there is a Linux client before I sign up for a paid subscription and make the switch.

The vast majority of Liux users are extremely sensitive to digital security. Many of us can't fully use the Proton suite (which we pay more, by choice), because there is no synchronization yet. A Proton Drive Linux client should be your top priority !

Every time I think of fully committing and switching to Proton Drive, I remember there's no Linux client. I'd subscribe and try - but you don't have a Linux client, so you've lost a customer until you do.

I've been a Visionary member since 2019 and have nearly completed moving everything to Proton. Google Apps (Mail/Calendar/contacts), Dropbox, 1password etc.
Proton provides replacements for all these.
We use Mac and Linux (Ubuntu) on our laptops and desktops and have Apple and Android mobiles.
The only real missing piece in this puzzle is a Linux client for Drive!
Please make this a priority for the Drive Team!
I'm also a Standard Notes user and while the shared Doc editing in Drive is a great addition, it's not as important as the Linux client in my opinion.
Many thanks and keep up the good work!
