Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

I really want a Linux client for Proton Drive! This is what i currently want the most from the Proton suite. And please prioritize making a client that works for not just Debian/Ubuntu based distros but also Arch and Fedora/RHEL distros. It would cover many Linux users.
Written on EndeavourOS which is Arch based :)

This should also be made available for Fedora/RHEL based distros as well as Arch based distros as those would cover a lot of people. Currently using an Arch based distro called EndeavourOS :)

This is the main thing keeping me from switching over. I'm really surprised they don't have a Linux client since there is a huge overlap between Linux users and people who care about privacy and are willing to pay for a secure option. Please add this!

Very close to switching from Google suite to Proton - I heavily use mail, drive, calendar across Android, Linux, Mac and iOS. So far so good with the Proton free plan, but the lack of a Linux client for Proton Drive is a big impediment for me. I think I'll wait until there is a Linux client before I sign up for a paid subscription and make the switch.

The vast majority of Liux users are extremely sensitive to digital security. Many of us can't fully use the Proton suite (which we pay more, by choice), because there is no synchronization yet. A Proton Drive Linux client should be your top priority !

Every time I think of fully committing and switching to Proton Drive, I remember there's no Linux client. I'd subscribe and try - but you don't have a Linux client, so you've lost a customer until you do.

I've been a Visionary member since 2019 and have nearly completed moving everything to Proton. Google Apps (Mail/Calendar/contacts), Dropbox, 1password etc.
Proton provides replacements for all these.
We use Mac and Linux (Ubuntu) on our laptops and desktops and have Apple and Android mobiles.
The only real missing piece in this puzzle is a Linux client for Drive!
Please make this a priority for the Drive Team!
I'm also a Standard Notes user and while the shared Doc editing in Drive is a great addition, it's not as important as the Linux client in my opinion.
Many thanks and keep up the good work!

We're unable to de-google without a working drive. The web-app is not convenient. With a proper sync, we can also use the drive to store bare git repos

There is a drive for Windows and Mac because they have a large user base. I think if you make a drive client for linux the linux user base will grow fast. Because Linux users are mostly already extremely privacy minded. I have nothing in the Big Tech cloud and now do a lot of self-hosting to keep it that way. Would love to drop some of that work load if only someone would support linux. So Proton, here is your big chance. I understand the CEO of proton believes the linux user base is to small. Then maybe he should consider why it is small. You lack support for one of the most privacy minded OS in the world. You do not support it, you do not get those users. Only Proton can break this circle by creating a Linux client for Proton Drive.
I would like to end with a question. There is already a client app for Mac. I believe Mac OS runs on a Linux kernel. Is it that hard to adapt that client to run on Linux? Not a programmer myself so I was wondering about that. -

This really should be a priority. Please provide a solution for Linux. I know a great many people desire to switch from Microsoft and/or Google and are just waiting for solutions to issues like Proton Drive.

It is an absolute necessity the web-app is really slow and inconvenient. Please fix that or allow 3rd-party-devs to create an app for you.
Thanks in advance -

I am dropping a lot of third-party tools because Proton offers me almost everything I need in one place. I regularly work on macOS, Windows and Linux, with Linux being my main platform and the lack of client for Proton Drive is currently a major issue for me. Thanks for considering adding support for Linux asap!

I'm ditching as many Microsoft and Google products as possible, and switching to Linux. Please make this happen!

I have recently switched over completely to Ubuntu. It is very disappointing that there is no Proton Drive client for Linux. I may have to reconsider my Visionary subscription.
