Proton Photos
basically Google photos, but better because it's encrypted.
As in, a mobile app for backing up and organizing phone photos.
Maybe we could pay a monthly fee for access to Photos, Drive, and VPN service. I'd much rather support an independent company than Google

We already pay for Protonmail, Proton drive etc and Proton photos should be free for paid users so why pay extra for photos?

One big usability issue is that you currently can not scroll through your photos in the IOS app

Hopefully a dedicated photos app as others mentioned! A Backup function like OneDrive is not needed.

Please keep in mind the use case of seamlessly sharing photos between family members as something to deliver from day one!!!

Hopefully ‘Planned’ becomes ‘In Progress’ a lot quicker than the usual Proton velocity. A Photos product is critical to all of us who value our privacy

Hopefully they add a new app and don't make the proton drive app more crowded

Nice one! Looking forward to this!
Would be a game chnager I think for many people to switch over to drive, photos safe, private and convenient storage is a great incentive.

YESSS great news. I suggest a team up with photoprism. A open source project that could link to a proton drive folder maybe and use it as a photos app…

Manually syncing my photos to my drive is a PITA.

This is necessary. It's hard to justify the 200% additional cost over Google one for only 50% more storage, but a photos app is essential for the transition.
