Proton Photos
basically Google photos, but better because it's encrypted.
As in, a mobile app for backing up and organizing phone photos.
Maybe we could pay a monthly fee for access to Photos, Drive, and VPN service. I'd much rather support an independent company than Google
Hi everyone,
The Proton Drive photo backup for Android and iOS is already out.
Please see the announcements for:
iOS: https://proton.me/blog/proton-drive-photo-backup-ios
Android: https://proton.me/blog/proton-drive-photo-backup-android
We'll continue working on developing more functionalities to help you protect your most precious memories. Thanks for your continuous support!

When is this coming to iOS?? I cannot stress enough how important it is for me (and I’m sure a lot of people) to get rid of Google Photos, or Google anything for that matter, once and for all. I’m tired of feeling like they have access to my whole life through my photos but currently this is the only way I can share anything with family overseas. Once this feature rolls out I’m bringing all my family over to Proton. Get on it, guys!!

I need family shared folders for this to work. The current “sharing” implementation is useless for families. I need actual shared folders to backup photos to.

Guys do you realize in your wishful thinking that we will never get proton apps like photos, contacts, calendar integrated within our mobiles like Google or Microsoft simply because they have exclusivity in Android API integration like Samsung with Microsoft. And that's because till now there is no other third-party company ever did this photos synchronization app with functionalities like OneDrive on Samsung phones and unfortunately probably the same will be with contacts.

I would like to be able to automatically share my photos with family, like I do on Google Photos.
I also need the ability to do some basic editing like I can with Google Photos.

Can we get the same feature but for any folder we decide to sync?

It would be great to have the same edit features for the pictures as Google Photos (crop, ajust luminosity, contrast, etc)

A client similar to Google Photo but made by Proton

Now that photo sync is implemented, it would be great to be able to choose which albums from my gallery I want to sync.

The most important features for me are face recognition, a nice handling of geolocation (presenting it on a map) and a migration tool from Google Photos. ente.io makes a great impression how and that all these great features can be done securely. I will wait a couple of months if Proton manages to bring up an alternative solution. I would be glad not to migrate twice.

I'm so glad this has been made available as I'm switching to Proton from Google and this will help the transition. Two requests: Can there be an option to also backup RAW images? It looks like it just syncs the jpgs currently. Also, would there be way to link to a google account and import all the photos already uploaded and stored there to help with the transition?

I care alot about privacy, but my wife loves google photos. Convincing her to use proton for everything would need this feature.

I requested this 2 years ago. Good to see it is finally planned. However, like almost all other comments, we need an ETA and an idea of features to expect. Your main competitor, Skiff, are already blasting through the feature request list and a Skiff Photos app is on the agenda. I'm committed to Proton for now but also using Skiff to see how they compare. Excited to see your take on Photos support.

This is basically the only remaining reason I personally continue to use a different cloud storage provider :)

Please provide an ETA. Proton Drive really misses an auto upload feature to backup camera pictures from mobile phone. It is a game changer for me to switch to Proton.
