Table of Contents :: Proton Docs
Thanks for making Proton Docs!
Will you please add a button to toggle a floating table of contents to the left side of a document that is being viewed or edited?
Ideally, the TOC would show the headers of the document that would scroll to that part of the document when clicked. This would be similar to the feature in Google Docs. Additionally, a config option for it to set how many headers deep it would show would also be helpful.
Thanks again!

Adding my voice to this. This feature would be EXTREMELY useful to have.

If this feature is added, then I can actually close my Google account. I currently have to use the Google account because the outline view makes the documents more accessible. Please prioritize this.

Major need.
Would also be super-important that the TOC is included when exporting to PDF. -

I can't believe this doesn't have more votes. Also, being able to collapse/expand headers directly in the document or even just in the side-bar outline would be extremely helpful.
Its almost impossible to navigate long documents without this feature and it's why I've struggled to switch away from Google Docs for so long! If this one thing gets implemented I would buy more storage and move everything I have to Proton right away

Similarly to the one from Microsoft Word, WPS Word and Google Docs. If this feature is implemented, I will switch from WPS Office to Proton Docs

Chiming in on this dearly awaited feature; with headlines following markdown formatting via #, this was something I had expected to be here already -
without it, handling docs is virtually impossible for me :c -

I really like how Proton Docs is like an endless scroll for my writing purposes; however, it does make it tricky to navigate if the document gets really long (which mine are...) and can be a bit a little stressful.
I was thinking it'd be cool to have an option that can be turned on/off to set these kind of "label-able bookmarks" AND headers on side like a ToC (kinda like Window's Word but better?), and be able to navigate directly to that section by clicking on it? Maybe have it off to the side? Maybe comments also be part of it? (or not, not sure how that would work, having them in such a list to the side or if it'd be helpful).
I say "AND" between bookmarks and headers because I may not want to go through the cycle of changing the font to match everything else when I just want to jump to that particular section of my writing notes. (it kinda distracts); being able to label those bookmarks separately in the ToC would be kinda neat - but maybe that's too niche an idea.
It'd also be cool for those who prefer separate pages to have an option between "endless scroll" and "pages" with breaks and such for numbering. Book mode would be cool too but not really important.
Edit: Also! I noticed in Proton Sheets, at the bottom, you can open a new sheet in the same document; I personally feel it would make Docs easier to use if this was also an option (or it would for me at least!); having a ton of open tabs in a window to navigate between documents to compare notes and such is a little annoying...
Overall still a great alternative to using Word or other email options!

This isn't that hard to implement considering it is embedded in the structure of the document... -

This is the feature I use Google Drive for. I can't switch to Proton without breaking my entire workflow.

having this feature natively would be preferred. but for anyone looking for a workaround, this add-on has helped me - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/headingsmap

Yes! This is critical to my organization's switch over from Google Docs. That and the ability to link to bookmarks or headings at different places in the document. Thank you Proton!
