Support .ods files in Proton Sheets
Please support reading sheets from the open document format .ods and exporting sheets to .ods
This is implemented!

I had to disable and then re-enable beta support for the "Open on Proton Sheets (Beta)" option to appear. After attempting to open my .ods file, it simply resulted in a blank worksheet, with no messages indicating what went wrong.

Edit: It is implemented! I have contacted support, it is in beta. You could access it by enabling Beta access on the web, opening the ods, and clicking on open in proton sheets (beta) at top.
Double clicking on the thing shows no preview. And I cannot open ods from Proton Sheets itself.
Maybe your little program *could* deal with ods, but it is not functional.
"This is implemented!" is not an answer, can we get how to use this implementation? @Proton

Edit: it is indeed implemented when you enable Beta access, however:
1) it seems to only work for new .ods uploads, not for existing .ods files;
2) after opening in Proton Sheets, it creates a copy of the file in Proton's own spreadsheet format, and any changes made are only saved in that new copy, not in the original .ods file. Additionally, it creates a new copy each time the .ods file is opened.Very much in Beta still, but on the right track!
Furthermore, I do hope that Proton is also working on the support for other ODF formats (like .odt and .odp).

This is indeed not implemented at all... -

It looks like you have added support for .xlsx, not .ods. Please remove the COMPLETED mark from this issue. this is not completed. you have done an adjacent thing, did not complete the original ask of the community.

Am I the only one not seeing it ? How much is it "implemented" ? In which way can we use this support ?

Very, very important for a open source project.

This is a critical function for me. I really need to be able to edit ods files as they are, without the need to turn them into proton proprietary format first.

This is crucial. And should be implemented asap. Also we need password option - to add another layer of protection - e.g. I use password to sheets in case I open wrong file when presenting the screen - so I would like to open odt file in proton (in browser) and be required to type password - not for proton accept but per file password.

Please do this ASAP for the Linux/Open Source community.
The Open Source Formats should be the standard for non-Microsoft platforms like Docs and Sheets not the proprietary Microsoft stuff that gets wonky when opened in other programs -

This should be a no brainer : .xlsx is a closed format, owned by a (not very recommendable if you ask me) big tech , whereas .ods is open standard.
Being able to choose between the 2 is fine, but if only one has to live it should be the latter. -

Exporting and importing in open formats is an absolute must! Microsoft excel... come on!

- Loading an ods file (libreoffice) is not possible.
- Loading an xlsx file (excel) is possible, but the formulas are not overtaken, only the numbers (results).
- Doing a copy/paste from an ods/xlsx file returns errors where formulas where introduced (#Name!]...
... and it doesn't overtake the formatting (bold, underline, etc.).>> It's better to start from scratch when it goes about formulas/formatting.

Besides .xlsx, many of us who use Linux and free/open-source software like LibreOffice Calc sometimes use .odt instead. It would be wonderful to have a direct export/download to .odt within Proton Sheets

Sheets is useless, if I can't even edit the existing .ods spreadsheets in proton sheets.
This seems like a massive oversight. I want to upload my documents in proton drive, and edit them on the web if needed. -

came to comment this. I do not understand why is proton following big tech steps like a toddler.. STOP IT. do ods as default, be bold.

I want to support this idea. I'm currently trying to quit totally from MS office stuff and I've started to edit all my documents in .ods fortmat using LibreOffice. The first thing I've checked on the new Proton Sheets was the possibility to import/export in .ods format! Please add this feature for all the opens source and open formats entusiast that do not want to continue to use MS Office closed formats.
Thanks to the team for all the work.
