Linux Client
Proton Drive really needs the ability to sync desktop files automatically. This post focuses on a Linux client for Proton Drive.

It's insane to think that the universe will cool down and reset before we have a working Proton Drive client for Linux, Filen, Kofr and Peergos have one. I picked Proton for the features but I start to regret it.
Also @Stéphane L, they hired someone. I think priority is just to please Windows/Mobile/WebUI users first. Linux is a fringe of their userbase but for most it would mean a change.

SDK / Linux client & rclone support should be a number one priority.
I don't understand why Proton team is unable to provide that after all these years. We need something similar to Pcloud /Infomaniak Kdrive AppImage.
Proton team hire someone to get it done ASAP! I will not renew if you don't get it done. -

I would like to upgrade from M365 to protondrive. Working with Windows, MacOS and linux, the lack of an app for linux is a major blocker. I hope it will happen soon; proton is a very nice alternative to US clouds...

This is a major blocker for me. I have very limited storage in my laptop. So, I use Proton drive quite extensively. Without a proper client for Linux, I can't migrate away from Windows to Linux.
I thought of building the client myself but the SDK is not yet ready for third-party production use. If anyone is looking for the official SDK, checkout https://github.com/ProtonDriveApps/sdk
I need this ASAP. As paid customers, we deserve to be heard.

Lmao, I cant believe this isnt implemented yet. This is a joke!
At this point you'd almost have to assume Proton is being paid by competitors to deliberately not create a Linux client -

I've been with proton since the launch of proton mail years ago and have hung in despite the VERY VERY slow linux support. Luckily things like email don't really require a client and the VPN has slowly gotten decent Linux support feature-wise. When proton drive was first released I was very excited about it until I realized how useless it was without a proper linux client for my use case. I'm glad to see we may finally be getting a linux client and a decent API so the community can support it through software like rclone which personally a working API so RClone can support it properly is really what I'm wanting for my use case so I hope the API gets published before time is wasted on making a full blown client that mimics the windows client.

Proton should be given an high priority to the Linux Proton Drive Application development. It will provide to Proton adding value compared to its competitors and provider greater security to its users.

Disappointing. I was hoping to migrate my family to proton, but failed at the last hurdle - checking that I can backup to my linux machine. rclone can't access files in a shared dir if they're created by a different account, and there's no native client

Adding my voice to this. Might not renew my subscription if Proton won't prioritize drive for Linux. Might have to learn to self host. Hope that I won't have to do that. Love most of what this company is doing, and it aligns with my values, but this can be the tipping point for leaving proton.

Totally agree. Essential for me to move fully to Proton. I was really surprised that there was no Drive App for Linux - we need this. How can you sponsor The Linux Experiment and not have the complete set of apps on the platform ??

Go ask Pcloud how they did it. They have a linux client AND a cli. They managed, why can't you? Works withouth a hitch with rclone as well. Very nice. And data stored in Europe.

A proper Linux client is definitely needed. I went back to OneDrive, since there is an actual usable Linux tool for that.

I use Proton to avoid that me data is stored in USA. But until we have Proton Drive for Linux I can‘t backup my data in a Safe way!

Please add support for linux! Come on, we're trying to move away from Windows how are you not supporting Linux natively already?

I am struggling to use Proton on Linux due to missing support for Drive, the second-most essential app to me after mail.
Proton and Linux align perfectly in terms of privacy, how this has still not been released after years of waiting is baffling.
