How can we improve Proton Drive?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Website backup functionality

    Website backup possibility.
    I work as a Wordpress developer and would love to see Proton Drive as a backup possibility for my customers. Most of the major Backup Plug-ins like Duplicator Pro or Updraft Plus have direct connection to Google Drive, and Dropbox. It would be great to have Proton Drive as an option. Im sure this would bring more paying customers to your great services.

  2. Add ability to Copy, Paste, Better Sorts, Like, Rotate, etc

    We need some basic features like CUT/COPY/PASTE. Would like to be able to sort using other metadata besides the upload/modified date - for photos, creation date is essential for sorting. What about tagging/liking/favoriting/♥️ photos? Not having the ability to scroll through photos and easily view the detailed metadata will be a dealbreaker at some point. Basic photo editing tools like at least ‘rotate’ would be great. It really needs some of these simple features to make it usable.

  3. Sync iPad OS file changes

    Presently the Windows client of Proton Drive allows launch, change and save of files. That function is not active in the OS for the ipad, where any changes made to a file are not saved to the drive file. This means I can make, save and leave a file thinking its updated and when I return to it, the changes are missing.

  4. Reaction tracker button

    Dear Proton Development Team,

    I'd like to suggest a valuable addition to enhance user engagement: the introduction of a "Reaction Tracker" button for folders. Here's a brief overview of how this feature could function:

    1. Users can activate the Reaction Tracker for a specific folder within the Proton app.
    2. When a recipient opens a shared video link from that folder, their face camera will automatically initiate recording.
    3. The recorded reaction videos would be neatly stored in a designated folder titled "Recorded Reactions" for easy access.

  6. A configurable setting for the number of threads you upload with - enabling speedy upload of many small files.

    In the desktop client during initial configuration I would like to be able to increase the number of upload threads to on-boarding significantly quicker.

    For instance, if I have a code repository uploading to Proton Drive and the repository is composed of a node modules directory or a python modules directory there might be tens of thousands of files, and each one of them may be less than a kilobyte.

    In this case the time taken to initiate the connection, write the data, and report it as finished takes up almost all of the overall time.

  7. To Sync Proton Drive in Linux (Debian, Ubuntu)

    Is it possible (or will it be possible) to mount Proton Drive as a remote drive on Linux (for example using sshfs)?

  9. Sort files based on metadata in the file (ID3 tag, Exif, etc)

    it would be nice to be able add columns to the list view that index data from within the file.

    For photos/images, EXIF fields like date/time taken, location, camera make/model etc.
    For music, standard id3 tags.

  10. Scanning documents

    If saving a physical document into Proton Drive, it needs to be scanned first. It would be great to get it into be a pdf-file directly from Proton Drive. Not using a third party app. Take a look at Tresorit to see how they solved it.

    Hello ,
    Would it be possible to use my Proton Drive to download my .torrent files in order to download The associated file in there , not in my PC ?

    I would like to use proton drive on my Android TV. I am transferring a movie from my PC or Android phone to Proton Drive and I would like to use Proton Drive on my Android TV to receive the movie. THANKS

  15. Improve visibility of shared folders

  16. Add(/download) whole Folder

    waiting for automatic synchronizations, it would be useful to be able to upload an entire folder, without having to select the files one by one.

  18. Ability to duplicate a file within Proton Drive

    There is no way currently to duplicate a file or folder in Proton Drive. If a user wants to have the same file in multiple folders, or create a duplicate folder with slight modifications to contents, everythign must be done offline and re-uploaded to Proton Drive (ex. re-upload the file to every folder you wish to place it in, vs. making duplicates within Proton Drive and moving them to the other folders)

  20. Scheduled data sharing and/or drafts of data sharing

    I would like to have the ability to schedule data sharing, with the option to postpone or delete scheduled sends. It would be great also to be able to create drafts of data sharing by selecting recipients and data, and then easily send everything with just 2/3 taps from app, as long as the data is still stored in my cloud. It would be super if in addition to other users of the service, it were possible to indicate email addresses of users who do not have the service, then sending them an email.
    To avoid abuse and/or excessive loads…
